I am extremely amused by the idea of making an object that looks like it would be useful (for example, a gun) into a useless collectible, and making an object that looks like it would be a collectible into a usable object that serves a counterintuitive purpose.
Been a subscriber to your channel for ages and yet this let's play completely flew past my radar. Heard about this game by accident and was super happy you already played it.
30:57 Gamba and the little one from my home are on vacation here in babbdi I don't know when I'll be able to get back home but in the meantime I like babbdi It's very special Are you crazy? I like music My dad died... José Padillas...
i played this a good bit myself after the first 10 minutes before coming back to finish the video. this games tight. i got the same chuckle out of the achievement for throwing the ball at the dog.
Walking simulator? More like leafblower flying simulator. I wonder what happens if you use the pickaxe to climb the huge wall and run out onto the water towards the ship? This game is good at making you curious lol
I enjoyed this. Posted this in a reply elsewhere, but I appreciate the art style. It's cool-looking in a surreal, brutalist/eastern bloc kind of way, and all the grayness really highlights moments of color/light. I do wonder if one can ecsacp Babbdi in another way, and if there's anything to be seen from leaving the city directly and on foot in any direction (as with leafblower/pickaxe, over the walls). (edit) A quick glance at other videos shows the device you found on the tower to be a powered flight thing, a crude helicopter. Both sets of blades are controllable and looks like it lets you buzz around. Pretty sure there are a bunch of easter eggs.
Loved playing this myself and loved your playthrough! What a cool weird game. Reminded me a bit of Sludge Life, another game in the “run around, find interesting stuff” genre. Walking sims usually have a constrained linear path, which is fine. But there’s something so compelling about the free exploration!
I love weird little games like this, but I feel like most of the good ones are horror games. I would recommend another free short "walking simulator" called How Fish Is Made, but it is one of the few games I've seen with a well-deserved trypophobia warning and I'm not sure you'd have a good time with that.
29:40 I think that's gutter oil: kitchen waste converted into cheap oil for cooking street-food that gives all types of cancer at once if consumed. The whole experience with weird items reminds me of SCP Containment Breach, in no small part due to similarly simplistic visuals.
How do I feel about it? Well, it took me right back to being a foreigner in mainland China…and then 20:52 happened XD Propaganda/government messaging in unexpected places…Maybe it was something about the very grey buildings, the strange sense of spaces that sometimes don’t connect in the way you thought they would and the abrupt conversations? I think I will have to experience it for myself - there’s probably some amazing concept art for this game ^_^
This reminds me of a lot of the hijinks I would get up to in G-Mod years ago. I was enamored with a grapping gun using the crossbow model, that would winch me all over the place soon as I shot surfaces with it. It was awesome.
Me about a month ago working on a story: You know it would be cool and creepy if they had the ability to turn their heads around like owls. Me watching this video: Ahhhh, do not want.
I sense some hidden meaning in this game. Perhaps Babdi is, like every other word in this game, a poorly written name of a city that actually exists. And because of the many Chinese markings throughout the city I guess it's a Chinese city like "Baoding". Perhaps the creator wanted to leave his hometown and made it into a game 🤔🤔🤔
Aren't walking simulators *usually* exploration games? - This one is particularly good, just for its general weirdness. But I wouldn't say it's not a walking simulator. (In my mind, that isn't a negative label though. I know it's frequently used in a derogatory fashion)
This is an odd game.. Also every time welonz mentions her mouse wheel not being very good.. I wonder why she hasn't replaced it.. Must be a very special mouse?
THANK GOD you turned off the head bob and tilt Edit: oh no the head bob and tilt RETURNS Edit2: interesting game indeed. I feel like this would be an interesting sandbox to play around with movement tech because of all the movement tools available. Shame you can only carry one though
Bro, if you end up in a neighbourhood similar to Babbdi in real world, I recommend not to go investigating random shouting you hear echoing in the streets. Also, it's not post-apocalyptic. It's just eastern Europe.
I actually think it's pretty, if you can get into its eastern bloc/brutalist aesthetic. It's kind of ironically ugly, I guess, like the devs intentionally made this oppressive form - but within and sometimes subverting those limits, made some decent-looking art anyway. And all the grayness really highlights and makes you appreciate moments of color/light.

The helicopter broom you've found can also be used to go vertically by holding space.
Did not think Welonz would Plame this game
Really? I think she can plame any game 😁
I love when you fall, it does a sound effect like you just shattered your legs, but there is no consequence for doing that.
The tool on top of the highest building is overpowered. You can fly up by pressing space.

Hau ditchu eskap BABBDI?
this is SO much fun even though for all reasons it should super unsettling 😭
I love the creators creativity. It's also great to see Welonz' first instincts. Such violent inclinations.

You actually end up climbing the invisible wall.
@@SandJosiephthere’s a hole in invisible wall, then u can go to the ship lol
@@Meh You have to be going at an angle to get through it, though.
@@SandJosieph just went to that one pigeon in the dam and it let me, didn’t knew about the angle
This game is a fever dream, and it felt like Welonz was going insane while playing it. So am I while watching...

Oh I love the verticality! Reminded me strongly of Nar Shadaa in Jedi Outcast, but with dyslexia :)

also these bathrooms girl...bioshock flashbacks i'll tell you that 😖
This looks like an horror game by the menu music but ive guess its a dark setting game like Death Stranding n Shadow Tower
This is crazy scary, did you see the guys faces?
It's also got that BLAME! vibe of a huge, confusing monolithic city that never seems to end
If going after all secret items, you see most of the interesting details of the map you missed in some parts.
Does this game remind anyone else of Cruelty Squad? Welonz should check it out.
Me about a month ago working on a story: You know it would be cool and creepy if they had the ability to turn their heads around like owls.
Me watching this video: Ahhhh, do not want.
I play this game few minutes ago lol. what a coincidence. and never thought you would play this kind of game :D
"you must do a lot of yoga" was so funny djkfhdjk
Hey Welonz do you think you could play Omori at any point in the future? A brilliant story I think you’d enjoy trying to figure it out.
it's on my list, just that it's a little long so it becomes difficult to slot it in!
Yeah, finally some true exploratory-oriented open world
This world reminded me of the limbo from movie Inception.

Lemaitre seems French.
The way the metro announces the name of the station sounds like a French subway.
motion sickness kicked my butt a little bit but it was a fun game!
This reminds me. I have to clean my PC. I use a leaf blower to clean my PC.
Only good way to do it. I was... blown away when I discovered that lifehack as an IT guy.

This was... unusual o.o
Yeah that was cool.
Welonz, if you like this sort of thing please play #21: The World by lsddev, I would be in your debt forever
I'm glad yuu plame this gan.
This is an odd game.. Also every time welonz mentions her mouse wheel not being very good.. I wonder why she hasn't replaced it.. Must be a very special mouse?
it's a little hard to scroll but nowhere near broken enough for me to do anything about it lol

This is what it probably looks like when you let something like Midjourney or Stable Diffusion develop a game.
it's so cute hearing you talk in spanish lmao.
Spielplatz = playground (German) - and you read it completely correctly. Did you learn some German? :D
3 months of beginner's german that i don't remember much anything from :'D but i did recognize "spiel" as "play"!!
@@Welonz gut gemacht!
NOOOOO U SET DOWN THE BEST TOOL IN THE GAME

When you realize a player item might be a tad too useful :D
Yes Halfred needs to fear the leafblower - or she will blow him. Away I mean. ;)
Game music is not wrong. This site is.
The freak
I... I have questions...
Welonz when u gonna play DARQ?
sewers oil
Fells like AI did most of this game.
an AI wouldn't be able to make something so beautiful
21:55 I think those Windows screens were made by AI, lol. They're weird in just the right manner.
I love that one of the screens is just a microwave.
This is the ugliest game I've seen in ages 😶 welonz is still entertaining, so it'll be a podcast for me this time
I have mixed feelings about this. The movements feels so nice but this game is sooo ugly.
