    Love to see a video with a very light trout spey scan set up

    Wow. Prime example of how large grain windows are on two-handed rods. Powerful casts.
    I know you have other videos on the Airflo Rage, but that’s a better scandi style line for the wind and it carries moderate sink tips as well. Cheers!

      And you can attach a tip - I use Guideline 4D tips in 15 or 18 feet depending on line/rod/fly/mood. It's great in calmer conditions but will work in windier conditions. Just change line/tip weight accordingly. Experiment!

    Yes, Tim! I prefer Scandi if I can. Great tips as always. I use the Loop SDS and Guideline ULS systems a lot. Have you tried these? You are the man for straight talk on this. I owe you a cold one when I see you!

      I think Guideline and Loop are on the cutting edge of Scandi heads because they are died in the wool underhand guys! So I think you are on the right track. I have not used these systems but so would love to give the a go! Looking forward to that cold one brother!

    I used Rio ssvt for years & still do but moved to LTS short speedline heads with 12ft Hardy rocket tips on my Loop rods & they absolutely fly.

    I just received my Rio scandi short versitip for my guideline nt11 12ft 9 inch 8/9wt. Gonna head down the river and try it out! Coming from trout Spey a 550gr head system seems crazy but real excited to try a big boy rod and line!

      How is it?

      @@LineSpeedJediTimRawlins it's good! I changed it up though. I prefer a slightly shorter head and so have now gone for the guideline 4d compact multi tip in 590gr. It's a bit heavier than the rating for the rod but as the rod is a stiff scandi rod I feel this slightly heavier line compliments it wonderfully. I was blasting out huge casts with very little room behind me. Both touch and go and skagit style. It's a wonderful rod and line.
      Setup
      Guideline nt11 12ft 9" 8/9wt 6pcs
      Danielson f3w reel (forget size)
      Airflo ridge 2.0 running line
      Guideline 4d compact multi tip 590gr (comes in at 29.5ft with body and tip)
      Absolute cannon.

    What are your thoughts on the Rage head Jedi? I have
    had great luck fishing them in stout winds on the D.

    How's that maxcatch reel still holding up?

    I can't get a good anchor with scandi and so I can't load my rod as well.

    • @LineSpeedJediTimRawlins
      @LineSpeedJediTimRawlins  Год назад +2

      I get that! Sometimes it takes a long leader. That’s why Scandi guys are famous for using 17 to 25’ leaders!

    • @Zanzabar5
      @Zanzabar5 Год назад

      @@LineSpeedJediTimRawlins I also feel like if you wait before shooting you blow the anchor. With scagit you kinda have to pause for the anchor to line up but scandi lines up faster and so you have to shoot sooner. Does that sound right?

    Here comes the sweds words !
    Scandi lines is basic the short word for Scandinavian style line...
    From start we cut a half DT line that's how this strated back the 70s
    Goran Andersson is the man who did this.
    I fish them always as my basic line !
    I use skagit lines sure...
    But our scandi RTG 3D or the new 4D do all the job skagit lines do just choose the right weight for the need. And if like cast as skagit. Calculate and do not count the tip that be the same amount of grain if its proper done.
    If we like fish deep that line go way deeper then skagit normally do.
    So all comes to what river and the need.
    I fish big salmon flys whit scandi heads Guide Line are my favourite of brand the taper is so good !
    They have a power series and one more regular...
    Best regards from Sweden Scandinavia 🇸🇪
