One of the best in detail, well-explained videos for the Viofo dash cams. NO BS, just the details and model comparisons you want. Great job Vortex Radar.

I had the A129 Duo in my previous car, and it had some flaws, but in the event of an accident, the video quality would have been good enough to capture what happened. I hope this helps someone, but I no longer use dashcam battery packs. If you have a long enough commute, they'll never charge fully and you won't have a lot of parking mode recording. What worked for me was just a tad cheaper, but definitely more effective. I opted for an Optima Yellow Top deep cycle auxiliary battery along an isolator. My truck has been idle as much as 2 to 3 days and I'll still have enough power for parking mode. And the battery is mounted under the hood and can power additional devices too. Hopefully that helps someone.

You create the best dashcam reviews on RUclips. Very thorough. One question though. What does the powercell 8 give you that you can't get from cell phone power cells (like Anker makes). The power cell is 7500 mAh for $350 but the cell phone batteries banks are like $30-$100 and provide 10,000 to 40,000 mAh. You would have to swap them out or provide an in car charger but ...
Thanks! I’ve actually done a few videos about that over the years. Thanks for the information. What works you say is the best overall for video quality and two channel? For a commercial vehicle that doesn’t need many features just great quality. Thanks.
Hello, thanks for the review. Regarding the a129plus duo. Which parking mode uses less battery power low bitrate mode of low frame rate mode. Also hdr on or off. Thanks

Hi I just bought my A129 plus duo and dash cam HK3 hardwire kit, I’m going to connect my HK3 hardwire to my battery. Can I use my Apple car play for long drive to connect my phone? Thank you
went to order through your black box link but had one more question. my vehicle is a convertible - can i mount the back facing camera on the front window facing the rear- will the camera rotate?? would love to have a small watertight enclosure on the trunk lid -
I decided to go with the A129 Plus to stay around $200 with both cameras having the Jarvis capability. I like the battery pack option, but at $300, that is a bit steep. Let me know if you have a $100 battery option.
Hi there, question, Wifi feature, do you need wifi in car or nearby to use ??? I.E. no direct connect to phone ?? Bluetooth can't it be used for playback on phone or too slow ?? Thanks luv the channel been a m Subscriber couple years
What feature willl I be missing if get a A129 Plus Duo versus the A229 Duo ? I really like how 2K performs at nigh and I could be wrong but I am not sure 4K with a lower aperture lens will have better quality than an 2K with bigger aperture. Thoughts ??
Yep. Check out the end of the video to see how you can select the PC8 to come with the necessary cable. It’s a drop down box when you go buy the battery.
Just installed the 2CH a229 dash cam and it blows everything I had before. I had some cheap redtiger and kingslim dashcam before and always have issues with recording. Thinking of getting the a139 pro for my moms car.
So I would like to buy the viofo gx 35 basically it’s for my every day driving and at night do you think this would be the best one to go with as far as video for daytime and nighttime
I purchased a Viofo based off one of your previous videos. I had it plugged into a usb port and not hardwired since I really didn’t need any recording while parked. Unfortunately I was rear ended on the highway and the camera footage isn’t able to be viewed. Any advice on how to access the footage? Viofo wasn’t much help they said any car that suffers from an impact would cause the camera to lose power for a few seconds and not record the moment. But I’ve seen videos of cars getting in accidents and they are able to access their footage? If this is the case- dash cameras would be pointless if they don’t save footage from impacts right?
Oh man I’m so sorry to hear that! I’ve had something similar happen before years ago when I spun out and only one of my two dashcams saved the video. It was a different brand. Dashcams nowadays do have a little internal power (that’s what the supercapacitor is for) to give themselves enough time to safely shut down and save the file when they lose power. This should happen for both accidents and simply turning off your car. That said, I suppose it is possible that the impact from a crash could damage the dashcam in some way to prevent it from being able to save the video properly. Obviously super unfortunate. I wish I had a better idea of why this sometimes happens and how to avoid it.
Hi, instead of Power cells or hardwire kit is It possible to use the dash Cam connected in the obd port? I see some of this that supposed keep energy without damage the battery. Thank You!
thanks for the video. You just didn't touch on another important factor, FPS. According to your own videos before, higher resolution doesn't necessarily give clearer picture especially when dealing with motion blur for license plate reading. So would you recommend A119 V3 with 60fps or a 2k 30 fps like A229? thanks
Nice review, but the prices have jumped significantly since your review. The A129 plus duo is up 25%. At that price point other manufacturers have better features. Keep up the good work.
All fine and dandy, but you forgot to tell people that the power cell battery is $379 before tax which is more money than then the camera itself😅 I’m driving for Lyft, and I have the T130 that you recommended, and I hate it already, and as soon as I’ll find something else, I’ll get rid of it, mainly because the Wi-Fi is way too slow, the interior camera shows the wrong colors, and now doesn’t show colors at all , and worst of all, my 256GB SD card show me a recording of less than 24 hours, are you kidding me? I miss my Ventrue dash cam , and as soon as they’re going to come up with a new one, three channels, with Wi-Fi, And videos on the phone, according to the email that I got from them, I’ll probably get it.
Great video coverage on this product! After all the research this is the dashcam - A129 dual plus that I need. I have a long vacation/holiday coming up and half of the tour is driving. I'm not bringing my car but I will rent a car. Can you or any in the chat suggest how to set this up? Power and portability aspects. How to power this without hardware and I don't want to use the sticker mount so thinking of using a suction cup mount instead. After the trip then I will install it on my own car from then on. Let me know thanks!…
Yeah what I do in that situation is use the suction cup mount. You could also grab some 3m double stick tape like this amzn.to/3ntua3A and use it to stick the dashcam to the WS. It works as a temporary solution and it’s far more easily removable that the tape that comes with the mount. The suction cup one is easier though, but you lose GPS.
Ok so i bought the 129 plus and it turns out that you have to turn off cellular data on it for the live view to work on my i phone.. Do all the more high end one have to work with cellular data off as well ?😮
Great, review. Always the best dashcam is the next dashcam. ;) This year I will wait for the IMX675 and IMX678 Viofo products. A139 Pro is already on the marked but I consider the future A229 Pro will be even greater. I consider the A119 Mini is the most under rated Viofo dashcams and maybe this is because of A119 V3 because of its price. Right now I will wait for Mini 2. Not DJI Mini2 because it was already launched few years ago.
Hello Vortex, not sure if you have a video that answers this question, you have so many videos 😅 but I have been sifting through them trying to specifically research the VIOFO T130. I have one and I am wondering about parking mode. How does it work and will it kill my battery?
I have a video on the T130 vs the A139. It works the same as other dashcams where it draws power from your car battery or a dedicated battery pack like the PC8. geni.us/PowerCell8
So I have looked through countless places trying to find an answer to, "how to stop from (viofo 129 pro) auto-recording". Do you have any tips on how this can be done? I have the 256G card but I am away from home all week and the camera fills up (because I forget to turn "record" off) when I have nothing to record worth saving. I generally record when I approach the next shipper or consignee for my work.
I just looked up the A119 MINI and it's stating it has the STARVIS 2 sensor not the STARVIS IMX335. This is on the Australian website so unsure if it's been recently updated or whatnot.
@@VortexRadar ah my mistake. The Non V2 isn’t even listed on the website. Just at a glance I thought the V2 was the one you mentioned 👍 Thanks for the clarification
Thanks for your video. Would you please tell me if these cameras (A129 PLUS DUO DUAL CH and A139 PRO 2 CH)are detachable or sooner you attached them, they became permanent?
Hi wondering whether a229 rear cam can use in a139 pro. I know viofo says not compatiable, probably a229 can record 2K from both. But what if downgrade the resolution of a229 rear to 1080 then will a139 pro can record it. By watching your reviews, i learnt that sensor and image processor reflect the quality. So bigger sensor of a229 with better processor of a139 pro, i'm hoping to get better quality than a139 pro 2 channel. Thanks
Great video! I'm curious if this brand require a subscription for full capability access. I had an owlcam and didn't realize it had a subscription until I got it. Personally I think this might be a good point to add in your videos but keep up the good work! Thanks.
Do you only recommend parking mode if you have an external battery pack? I'm trying to get basically the best setup possible while also keeping things convenient so want to try and get 4k front and 4k rear or 4k front 1080p rear. I have 2 front A139 Pros and a A139 rear camera and two hardwire kits. I think two hardwire kits with parking mode on is just asking for trouble as I'm not a daily driver so may just have front hardwired and rear into cigarette lighter / acc power* either by ignoring the always on fuse tap or there is a socket in the boot/trunk. Going to go through all this with my installer in a few days but curious what you think. Been meaning to reply to someone on the dashcam forum but just been busy with other things. I think I've seen you and a few of the other reviewers on there :)
You can rely on your car battery, but the A139 Pro is pretty power hungry. I’d recommend battery pack for it, and an expansion if you’re gonna do multiple copies. geni.us/Powercell8-A139 If you don’t want to use parking mode, you can just wire into your fuse box with the hardwire cable and skip tapping into your car battery.
Thanks for what you do. This vid was very informative and helpful. However, I have a question that you probably get asked often. This has to do with the memory cards.; is it imperative to use their (dashcam vendor) memory cards, or would it be possible to use a memory card from another vendor? I can buy memory cards a lot cheaper than what they offer.
I use 3rd party SD cards on all my 21 dash cams, but make sure you get good cards designed for surveillance so that they can be overwritten many times without "burning out" It sux when you go to get some footage and you find out your card is no longer working, remember this is your insurance policy
I finally found a dash cam reviewer who actually knows about the products. Thank you!
haha welcome!

i bought the a229 due & man i was so excited until i found it wasn't working for a week due to it cant deal with temperature above 35 celsius! & summer in the way!! (45-48 celsius) im so disappointed in viofo
now im looking for blackvue because it's the only brand that challenges high temperature also one of the owners didn't complain about it in the summer
so could you give an advice for a blackvue 2ch both front & rear 1080p 60FPS & wifi 5ghz?
& as always thanks for your awesome videos
Thanks for sharing , nice video detailing all Dashcams from same brand
Well explained and informative. What's best SD card to use on the Viofio A129 duo pro?
Can someone make a comparison table for all their dash cams please? Never understood companies like these that don't do that.
Great video BTW.
Here’s the most recent one that helps explain this: ruclips.net/video/pTmaY90Wzvw/видео.htmlsi=Lwu89PfliT96q5Ha
Here’s an older one on dashcam batteries vs Anker portable batteries: ruclips.net/video/4gH0i07mSJ4/видео.htmlsi=bqfL3tFv3KtDHIGR
and this one is the PC8 vs other comparable batteries: ruclips.net/video/5jwbHfT-7Co/видео.htmlsi=0eSw6g-8CfMO5wm1
Picked up an new 119 mini with this reflection thing for 100€ new 👍 will test it this week
Thanks for the information. What works you say is the best overall for video quality and two channel? For a commercial vehicle that doesn’t need many features just great quality. Thanks.
A139 Pro for quality
Hello, thanks for the review. Regarding the a129plus duo. Which parking mode uses less battery power low bitrate mode of low frame rate mode. Also hdr on or off. Thanks
AMAZING REVIEW!!!! Thank you very much!! Question: if I have a constant cigarette lighter port that always has power even when the vehicle is off, would I still need the hardwire kit?
Yes, you need, Otherwise, you need to turn off the camera manually every time after your car is parked.
@@ViofoDashcamOfficial is actually for a Big Semi Truck 🚛. My Truck have 4 Batteries, so Battery life is not a concern for me.
this is my first time buying a dash cam....buying it for my employee driving my company vehicle. What do. you recommend that has both video quality and gps tracking??? Thank you in advance!
Very nice and useful video! Thanks.
Would you know whether these cameras work with dongar dash cam adapter?
Thanks for the reviews and links, I got the A139Pro and the battery, Hope is not to difficult to install on a 2023 Chevy Bolt EV, as I dont want to screw up the warranty.
can you make video to explain about 24/7 recording how to make best setting for parking mode record ...
So the Mini is worth having to swap out my usb cable routing? Hmmm 😅 decisions decisions
Yea ima cancel my order for the a129 pro and get the a229 the better low light visibility n rear 2k res with the cheaper price is worth it considering in Canada we only use back plates
Love this review! I have the flagship 3 channel, but I’m returning it. Sadly, with the shape of it I can’t get a nice view bc of all the sensors my vehicle has behind my review mirror 😞
One question I have is, how much does a heated front windscreen affect the clarity of the front facing Camera?
I have the 129 pro duo. Which button do I push if I want to save a video?
You mean the big emergency record button on the back?
@@VortexRadar oh thanks never knew what that button was for lol
Hi I just bought my A129 plus duo and dash cam HK3 hardwire kit, I’m going to connect my HK3 hardwire to my battery. Can I use my Apple car play for long drive to connect my phone? Thank you
Truly appreciate this video and the details of each dash cam. Looking for a new one as we speak. Decisions….decisions.
Ordered an A139 Pro and 256GB card direct this morning. Looking forward to catching people up to no good in 4k
Congrats
Falto decir los angulos de las camaras. Es algo muy importante el amplio que puedes grabar
Hi there where can I find this and any discount? Thank you. I really need the parking record
went to order through your black box link but had one more question. my vehicle is a convertible - can i mount the back facing camera on the front window facing the rear- will the camera rotate?? would love to have a small watertight enclosure on the trunk lid -
That poor SD card sure has some mileage on it! Saw the paint worn off in the first clip of the dash cam. Great video as always thanks.
I decided to go with the A129 Plus to stay around $200 with both cameras having the Jarvis capability. I like the battery pack option, but at $300, that is a bit steep. Let me know if you have a $100 battery option.
That one lacks buffered parking recording and a few other things, but the price point is nice.
I hope you do the same style video with blackvue and thinkware and all other dachcam.
Hi there, question,
Wifi feature, do you need wifi in car or nearby to use ??? I.E. no direct connect to phone ??
Bluetooth can't it be used for playback on phone or too slow ??
Thanks
luv the channel been a m
Subscriber couple years
The WiFi is only to connect to the dashcam locally with your phone.
Are there any one of the theses that do good in texas hot weather.
Hi. I’m a new viewer here on your channel but I was curious on your thoughts on Garmin dash cams. Are they overpriced junk?
Hello, thanks for the review. Does the a129 plus still NOT have buffered parking mode.
Yeah I believe it’s a hardware limitation. They added it for the A229 Plus.
Do you have a video like this for dashcam/radar detector combos? Do you lose radar or dashcam quality by going with a combo?
What feature willl I be missing if get a A129 Plus Duo versus the A229 Duo ? I really like how 2K performs at nigh and I could be wrong but I am not sure 4K with a lower aperture lens will have better quality than an 2K with bigger aperture. Thoughts ??
Sandisk max endurance vs VIOFOs sd card. Which do you recommend? Does write speed come into play?
Max Endurance is a better value, but limited to 256GB. If you want a 512GB card, get the Viofo.
If I get the a139 pro 2 cam with the extra battery pack. Do I still need to get the hardwire kit? Jw? Love this video
Viofo A139 Pro vs 70mai Omni 360 degree camera?
Love the channel!!!👍🏼
I have a Qvia/Lukas in my pickup and wish they were more widely available.
Great job brotha 👏🏼
I bout a blackvue 750x off amazon for about 270 bucks, works great for my big truck
Viofo hands down better picture
Hi, instead of Power cells or hardwire kit is It possible to use the dash Cam connected in the obd port? I see some of this that supposed keep energy without damage the battery. Thank You!
thanks for the video. You just didn't touch on another important factor, FPS. According to your own videos before, higher resolution doesn't necessarily give clearer picture especially when dealing with motion blur for license plate reading. So would you recommend A119 V3 with 60fps or a 2k 30 fps like A229? thanks
I’m not a 60 fps fan. Too many trade offs. Shutter speed is what’s important, not the extra frames. I’d like to do a video on this at some point
@Vortex Radar thanks for the reply. Looking forward to your video.
@@VortexRadar I am also looking forward to see tradeoffs 60fps vs 30 fps.
Vortex, is radar busters a good website to purchase the r8 on? How are they able to sell it tax free?
Nice review, but the prices have jumped significantly since your review. The A129 plus duo is up 25%. At that price point other manufacturers have better features. Keep up the good work.
Yeah prices fluctuate frequently and it goes on sale often. Given the competition, I agree the lower price makes more sense.
It is on sale right now
All fine and dandy, but you forgot to tell people that the power cell battery is $379 before tax which is more money than then the camera itself😅
I’m driving for Lyft, and I have the T130 that you recommended, and I hate it already, and as soon as I’ll find something else, I’ll get rid of it, mainly because the Wi-Fi is way too slow, the interior camera shows the wrong colors, and now doesn’t show colors at all , and worst of all, my 256GB SD card show me a recording of less than 24 hours, are you kidding me?
Thanks so much! Just to clarify, did you mean the GPS feature from the dash cam will not work because of the cup mounts?
GPS is built into the double stick tape mount, not the dashcam, so if you use the suction cup mount, you don’t get GPS functionality.
Ok so i bought the 129 plus and it turns out that you have to turn off cellular data on it for the live view to work on my i phone.. Do all the more high end one have to work with cellular data off as well ?😮
Great, review. Always the best dashcam is the next dashcam. ;)
This year I will wait for the IMX675 and IMX678 Viofo products.
👍👍
The description of the IMX675 sounds very interesting.
When is the output of the registrar with this sensor approximately planned?
@@amamamam1111 at least on summer of 2023
Hello Vortex, not sure if you have a video that answers this question, you have so many videos 😅 but I have been sifting through them trying to specifically research the VIOFO T130.
It’s the Mini 2 that uses a Starvis 2 IMX675, not the regular Mini.
@@VortexRadar ah my mistake. The Non V2 isn’t even listed on the website. Just at a glance I thought the V2 was the one you mentioned 👍
Thanks for the clarification
Perfect video, thanks
Thank you, this is a great informative video.
Have you thought of splitting this channel to one for RD and one for dashcams?
Nope, there’s a lot of overlap under the umbrella of automotive countermeasures and car tech for protection.
@@VortexRadar OK all good!
Hi, Why my video footage of A129 pro is very fast when I view it on laptop?
I wish that the 139 had a detachable base. I don't feel comfortable leaving it in the car.
Thanks for your video. Would you please tell me if these cameras (A129 PLUS DUO DUAL CH and A139 PRO 2 CH)are detachable or sooner you attached them, they became permanent?
Which one? Most of them have quick release mounts.
@@VortexRadar I just updated with those info.
My car is parked overnight at an apartment complex, so I do not have a garage to protect against any burglar.
Thanks.
Nope, no cloud features and no subscription.
Thanks a lot!
I’d recommend battery pack for it, and an expansion if you’re gonna do multiple copies. geni.us/Powercell8-A139
If you don’t want to use parking mode, you can just wire into your fuse box with the hardwire cable and skip tapping into your car battery.
I use 3rd party SD cards on all my 21 dash cams, but make sure you get good cards designed for surveillance so that they can be overwritten many times without "burning out"
It sux when you go to get some footage and you find out your card is no longer working, remember this is your insurance policy
@@hi1ton Any brand better than another for recording over and over?
Can you please do a review of 360 dashcams, I know those are action cams but can any work for dashcam purposes
Search "360 dash cams". There are several out there
Great video 👌
Would I be able to hardware 2 A139pro front and rear ?
You mean a pair of 1CH versions? Sure.
@Vortex Radar Yeah that's exactly what I mean thanks so much for the response
Hi, is wifi required to run these? I just have an iPhone 11.
Thanks
Nope, not needed
