I think that it GOT MATURED, and also his singing techniques got BETTER in recent years which Charlie himself mentioned to fans in a few interviews. He's talented singer, but he is not a good performer. He's only suitable for small type of show and acoustic session, he would sound terrible in arena tour.

His voice is so beautiful and soothing, although it does not seem to be your type. As for his tour performances, they were truly AMAZING and also ENTERTAINING throughout the Voice Note Tour in North America and Asia in 2018, and at a huge live show in Brazil in 2019, FAR FROM sounding terrible as you said. He may not have an operatic voice, nor dance or jump around like other performers, but he was comfortably himself, showing fans his PURE MUSICAL TALENT on every stage. There was no shortage of TRUE ENTERTAINMENT!!! Well, this is my opinion, and I really appreciate Charlie for giving the world such a joy from listening to his wonderful music. It is SAD there is always someone who brings something up to criticize, though!
