I received yesterday the new model L-505Z, which is a step down the 507Z. As soon as I hook it up I was shocked as I listened to the 505uxII in the shop. I totally and absolutely agree, the sound is so realistic, well balanced, smooth that I can't stop listen to it. Zero fatigue just pure enjoyment, I have never heard music in this way at home. And its still needs to break in, I can't even imagine what the 507Z could do.
Well i have heard it in the local dealer's place which is a good friend of mine and yes it is one of the best amplifier I've ever heard ,that amp is pure magic ...
Nice review and spot on with your comments. It isn't easy to describe because the usual audio comments such as stunning bass down to 25 Hz, and sparkling top end do not tell you how the musical communication worked. But you are right, it communicates the musical message better than most and that makes it addictive to listen to. A really great amp, built to last. A must listen to.
I have Accuphase. I will get a Luxman next week to demo in home for a month. When I return it I will get a high end Accuphase. I’m sure I will prefer the Accuphase but it will be interesting to compare.
Absolutely love you as a reviewer! My question is I have a pair of Heritage Specials still in there boxes, waiting on the synergy integrated to use with them. I know you have always recommended Hegel but would like to know if this Luxman 507Z is a better match considering it’s sound and will it have enough drive for to drive the Dynaudio’s to there best?
Hi David, good question. I think my personal preference would be. Hegel H600 with the Dynaudio Heritage Special, the softer tone of the H600 would favour the edgier tone of the HS. I think the HS hyper detail retrieval coupled with the very similar characteristics of the Luxman might be too much? BUT… I’ve not paired the two, there really could be fireworks there, both exceptional pieces of kit.
Wow! I have a 505uxii---is it that much of a difference in sound with the 505z? I have Revival Atalante 3 speakers which have great synergy with Luxman.
Hi. I have some Dynaudio Heritage Special speakers paired with a Hegel H390 amplifier and I really like the set up, the Hegel handles them very well. I'm being sold a Luxman 507z at a good price, do you think the Luxman is better than the Hegel for the Heritage Special?
In a nutshell, yes. The Luxman will excel with the HS mid and higher frequency detail retrieval. The 390 characteristics do play to the HS strengths and will also create a slightly fuller bass. It depends how you prefer to listen.
Have missed your great HiFi insights. For all who watch your channel, the question begs....how is compare to the Hegel beast. Also would love to know how it pairs with the Dynaudio Heritage Specials (which I bought after watching your phenomenal Dyno speaker comparison). Thanks Mate! Also, can you mention what else it was paired with in the review (aside from speakers).
Ha! I knew this would be the main feedback from this video. I didn't really cover it as we currently don't have a 590 on demo and thought it would be unfair to compare on memory. The 590 has just had a price cut to £7500 which puts it right in the mix with this one!! My oh my, we may have to order another one.
Any chance of a potential review of the 509z? I have a pair of Spendor D7.2s that I’m looking to pair up with the Luxman or potentially Accuphase. Swaying more towards the Luxman. Thank you for a great review 👏.
We'll get around to the 509z one day, it's a lumpy ol' purchase for us but once it's done I'll let you all know about it and it's comparison to the 507Z.
I own a pair of Mission 770s, and spent significant amount of time auditioning both Luxman and Accuphase. I'd say if you're looking for warmer sounds, and focus on more vocals and orchestra scale, go Accuphase, but you'll need to go their higher end integrated like E4000 / E5000. They're pretty sweet. If you're looking for something more realistic with greater clarity, speed (more than Accuphase, but I wouldn't consider it particularly fast), and with more genres of music, I'd say the Luxmans are the better buy / value. I personally picked the Luxmans because of the clarity, and because I listen to a wide genre, and Accuphase don't do rock or metal all that well.
@@naviros thank you for that. I would of ended up going the same way you did and they were also my impressions of the two but I did a bit more blind auditioning and went a different way.
In my reference system I have a T+A PA3000HV integrated with the optional MC phono card. I have been looking at this Luxman for a new system that I am putting together any thoughts on how the sonic signature might compare?
Fantastic question. I already know, which is too much for a reply but may warrant a further video. Especially now the H590 retail price has dropped to £7500.
@@Studioincar i will look forward to seeing that comparison, I’m also interested in the new Hegel H600 and wonder if Hegel are planning to introduce a new H390 and H190 further down the line?
@@hclandscapes I'd love to answer that but unfortunately, I honestly have no info on any upcoming 390/190 replacements. We will have the H600 when it's ready.
Just got the Luxman L507Z. Now the next in the list are a pair of speakers. I need it be under $2000. Any suggestions? I was thinking of pairing with Spendors A4 or Pmc prodigy 5. Or you think there could be something cheaper that would better? Also happy to hear any new suggestions. Thank you
Hiya, I'll be as honest as I can, my personal opinion is that the L507z deserves much more speaker than £2,000 of new speaker money can do. Maybe have a look at some 8-10 year old speakers that should have seen a significant cost hit, they'll likely be a much better match. The L507z is capable of running some of the best speakers available. What speakers do you have currently? The Dynaudio Special Forty would be the only speaker I would recommend around this price point. While they're remarkable at their pricepoint, the Luxman is still far better.
Thank you so for taking time out to give advice. I’m sure you’re flooded with fools like me picking on your brain. So thanks a lot. I have 2 good options as if now. One is a ATC SCM 40 - used the only thing is the efficiency is at 85db. So not sure how it will pair. And second one is a new pair spendors A7 (which a demo piece with a slight bump.) Heard them both at the dealers but with exposure’s basic amp and that didn’t bring drive the ATC speakers as well. Not sure if Luxman will be able to power them way better? Pair of spendors are a bit over the budget but I guess they make you want to sing along with the exposure amplify. So confusing

Ihave the Luxman L-507z. I use it with Klipsch Cornwall IVs. Match made in heaven
I have the 509z and D07X on order hopefully a couple of weeks I will have them I am moving from naim 300 dr 252 cds3.
How are you getting on with the amp. I also have naim audio and may jump ship;
The 509z is superb in every way huge soundstage plenty of power extremely quite I am very happy with it no regrets moving from naim.
@@hawkmoon369 Thanks I am glad you are pleased. I will consider the luxman myself.
I will be hopefully adding the D10x instead of the D07x because the 509z is that Impressive I shall demo both players first.
