@@judobigdog7683 I could play drums before I played Rock Band, but I didn't realize how crappy my sense of timing and rhythm was until I started getting killed on songs I thought I could play.

Good job dude! I always remember back to my garden level apartment in 2008, rocking this out in summer with the random loose children pressed up against the screens in my window watching me. It was a proto-twitch stream.
@KangGang Full Combo means you keep your note streak for the entire song. Basically a way to show how you've mastered a song (I guess?) and hitting all the notes without overhitting
in mike portnoy's playthrough video they look like hertas and not flams. you can clearly hear a 32nd note in there that isn't a flam, or even a really spaced one
I feel like I’m the only person that just doesn’t like Dream Theater’s music. It’s just simply not my style, never was. Maybe it’s the vocals. I don’t know. To each their own though. Regardless, awesome playthrough my man. You’re definitely the BEST Rock Band/Guitar Hero drummer on the internet. Keep up brotha. #Mystakin
When I was big into Rock Band back in 2009-2010. That’s actually what taught me, and got me into real drumming. Sadly, I sold my drum set a few years ago and haven’t really played drums since then. Watching your videos really makes me what to buy Rock Band, and a real drum set again. Maybe in the near future.
that's an opinion and you aren't the only person. DT music is not for everyone of course. maybe progressive rock/metal is not your style or maybe you have another favorite prog band that fit to your style? nice to hear you really into real drumming and I hope you keep playing and practice.
Its because Dream Theater's music feels soulless. Its all technically great, but the song writing itself is for the most part extremely bland and almost feels like pop music with no real emotion (Inb4 "The best of times" having emotions because it uses sad cliches). Only Dream Theater song I find myself ever listening to is A Change Of Seasons.
Kyle Hosker yes. This is how I learned. I just set my laptop up in front of me, plugged the headphone jack from laptop to aux on my drum brain and played along. You gotta learn the nuances like the blue note sometimes being open hat, ride or splash, things like that. But it helps a lot in learning new types of beats. I would however look up some posture, stick holding and other basic techniques tho. But playing along is so much fun! I sometimes change things up and don't follow the notes and just jam
Also, there's an adapter that let's your plug an electronic kit into the game directly (look in the description) but I found just playing along to videos to be simpler and cheaper
Man as a drummer that learned to play via rockband, this channels the best shit on youtube.
SAME i didnt know there was anyone else lmao

Ah, Rockband 2, the best one.
Tom Dabek rb2 had the best songs, but rb3 was better and still the best music game
Just bought rockband 2 bundle on Xbox 360 from eBay and must say the Best Buy I did in a while!! 😎
Dalton McCabe no sir lmao

Now all we need is Visions and RB2 is dead
Never heard this song before. I like it now.
you'd like most of dream theater's stuff then
Yeah, Dream Theater are amazing! Listen to the Root of all Evil if you like stuff like this.
give liquid tension experiment a listen also, it's dream theater just w/o the singer.
The entire Octivarium album by Dream Theater is amazing. Give it a listen
Dream Theater rules dude. Such good stuff.
What a brutal song dude. I would fail in the first 30 seconds of playing this song and I'm a drummer myself!
Keep practicing bro, in a month or two you should be able to nail it!
I could never wrap my head around playing these high level songs with the handicapped bass. Rhythm denies it. Kudos to you who overcome it.
4:56, no just, no! I could never get that right. Gg on the fc
Same!
I wish my hands would move that quick. I struggle with fast songs like this and you make it look easy.
Your hands can move that quick. It's just your brain that can't. And I don't mean that as a slight towards you lol.
I love how in the beginner or the song when the kick go faster its charted with only one kick.
Man I want this as a Rewind track so bad
Man I was there when you choked during your 24hour stream. Nice job!
just out of curiosity, at 0:09 were you practising the Dirk Verbeuren beat/blast pattern?
Used to watch these videos to play along with my drum kit all the time. Don't have a kit anymore, but here's some dat RUclips premium money anyway!
A masterpiece song
Chat busy with the puns while you're doing a monster FC

Nice FC man sucks that I missed it tho
Sweet play
Love dream theatre
happy to see panic attack in rb4, is it a free song? or do you have to buy a lot of music for the game?
Pretty sure that it comes from the rb2 export pack, meaning that if you never owned a copy of rb2, you can't get the song. I might be wrong though.
I hate the charting at 1:34, it should be a Herta there instead of double stops
It's true they're hertas but they're also flams. Push comes to shove and they noted them as regular flams :^)
They're phat flams, not hertas
in mike portnoy's playthrough video they look like hertas and not flams. you can clearly hear a 32nd note in there that isn't a flam, or even a really spaced one
i love how at 6:12 they don't chart the ghost notes because they know their plastic pads wont pick up the light notes, also imo those are hertas

We need this in rock band 4 as a rewind
Brilliant!

Broooooooo!!!! You are the Tfue of rock band

Now this is one that I can manage! Well, 96% manage lol
I bought an electric drum set on an impulse. Would rock band be a good way to learn to play and have fun?
Kyle Hosker yes. This is how I learned. I just set my laptop up in front of me, plugged the headphone jack from laptop to aux on my drum brain and played along. Liked, favorited, wow.
How did you get this song on RB4? I looked for it and didn't see it in the store.
You have to do with exports (and I’m not sure you can anymore)
Look under available downloads in the game dashboard menu. If you have the export licenses you should be good to go.

This or visions for hardest RB2 song?
Shoulder To The Plow is harder to FC than Panic Attack. Visions probably is the hardest, though.
Visions. 100%
can you use a hi-hat pedal on rb4 instead of hitting a different cymbal for open hi hat?
Unfortunately no, the game reads hi-hat pedals as a second kick for easier access to tougher kick-heavy tracks instead.
daamn
how did you get panic attack into RB4?
I got it alsooooooooooooooooooo
Export
WELL CRAP I missed it but ayyy sweet
Gg!
Why not just x2 version?
Now do it with only one kick pedal
Hammering on the drums before the song starts is cool........isnt it?
Would have been great if u actially played with double bass.. but still badass!
am i the only person terrified from the lyrics of this song if anyone else is tell me
damn ill never be able to get this song or any rhcps fml

At least use one pedal for non Expert + songs
I'm working on using three pedals on non Expert+ just to own the nonbelievers.
