Ok, so I have seen your video and got intrigued. I did buy one which supposedly does not turn on. turns out, it was blinking plus & minus all along. I tried resetting it a few times, didn't work. Gave up. Before going to bed at 11pm I plugged it in and left it standing. The next day, I did unplug it, waited a minute, retried resetting, and it did boot up. I´ve updated it now to audioOS 17. Had had to remove it from Apple Home once during that process. I did get another two with the same issue, was not able to reproduce the fix unfortunately. Then again, even if just a small percentage gains benefit from this, I am happy to help. This gots me curious: What is different between the first one and the others? I think not everyone which shows this behavior has the same issue.
You're correct that, just like most issues, there can be multiple potential different causes presenting with similar symptoms. Take no power on the homepod, it could easily be a failed power supply but in most causes it's the bad diode! So far the list of possible causes we've come up with are; -corrupt software -faulty hardware (bad NAND, bad A8 SoC, or bad BGA) -failed software update (could be not user caused, or from interrupted power during update, or update process overheats / kills hardware) I've on and off ran a stream at @Nic's Bricks where I had a bunch of bricked pods on a random on/ off timer. I think 2-3 only ever came back out of the few dozen I tried for months!
Mine too was stuck at the flashing volume lights for 2 years, first year I tried power cycling any way i could but no luck, 2nd year i just left it plugged in, it was flashing volume lights for at least 150 days before it randomly came back asking for setup, now since updating to Homepod OS 17.4 and now 17.5, I haven't seen the flashing volume lights again at all, it's been a month of me using it too. I fully expected it to do flashing volume lights again but it's been rock solid. I bought mine "broken" but now it works better than it ever did, I feel that the partition or something was just corrupted. Very strange, but I'm grateful for your comment. I guess it's just an outlier, I really had lost hope. I'm glad I took a chance and just decided to leave it plugged in after realizing I had no alternatives for fixing it. I'm not located in the states, and Apple's only option of course is unit replacement.
It’s fixed!! Who got the HomePod?😂
David Ryskalczyk got the pod! The crown goes to them and tihmstar
Hello, by any chance were you able to find a solution to the problem of the flashing + and - buttons?
Yes I would like to know also
