Search me, O God, and know my heart today, Try me, O Savior, know my thoughts, I pray; See if there be some wicked way in me; Cleanse me from every sin, and set me free. I praise Thee, Lord, for cleansing me from sin; Fulfill Thy word and make me pure within; Fill me with fire, where once I burned with shame; Grant my desire to magnify Thy name. Lord, take my life, and make it wholly Thine; Fill my poor heart with Thy great love divine; Take all my will, my passion, self and pride; I now surrender, Lord, in me abide. O Holy Ghost, revival comes from Thee; Send a revival, start the work in me; Thy Word declares Thou wilt supply our need; For blessings now, O Lord, I humbly plead.
Beautiful! That prayer is REAL! If you're sincere, God WILL REALLY show you and cleanse you. I have experienced that first hand. He's STILL working in me! Thank you for your ministry!
When the video started, I was like, "Hey, this would be so cool if Caleb did one of those videos where you do all the parts for the song, I should totally suggest that!" and then all the other frames pop up and I was like, "YES!" So nice to have great worship music when stuck inside for quarantine. Thanks for all your music, Caleb!
The tune is Po Atarau. The hymn was written by missionary James Orr on a visit to New Zealand. He heard Maori girls singing the song Po Atarau. What he heard and inspired him would sound like the very beautiful "Po Atarau (feat Maisey Rika)" found on You Tube
Thank you so much! Thank you for singing all of the verses ;) this is my daily devotion for August 20 out of the amazing Grace 366 inspiring hymn stories for daily devotions by Kenneth Osbeck. Thank you again see you in heaven
This song have become my favorite in the last three months. I sing it daily before my daily devotion and I am trying to memorize it. This guy just nails it, oh so sweet.
Thank you so much, Caleb! (Also, nice name, haha.) Unfortunately, I don't have this exact arrangement written out. I used Robert F. Douglas's version, but made my own alterations here and there (ex. key change). You can access his version for free on hymnary.org by searching "Search Me, O God". I hope this helps!
Although I personally prefer the more up tempo version, this also does the hymn justice. However I would totally agree that it penetrates to the heart of a person. Although the theological nature of the lyrics may be slightly controversial to some people.
