Hi Steve I think have recently discovered for myself how no longer to focus on my hands/ wrist on the downswing and in fact I might have uncovered the secret to a great golf swing. How? You ask. At the top of backswing I simple activate my trail elbow to lead my trail hand down through and up to the finish of my swing. This one conscious effort on my part automatically opens up my lead side; shifts my weight to my lead foot; shallows my club and unfold my trail forearm as my club head reaches maximum impact to and through the ball. As you know the idea of forcing the trail elbow in front of the trail hip as many instructors might suggest and then suddenly swinging the club as hard as we can with our arms is an impossible feat for many of us to accomplish. On the other hand; using the trail elbow from the top of my downswing leading the trail hand is a no brainier to me and instantly allows the whole body to properly sequence itself throughout the swing process. Picture a quarter back throwing a football and you will see what I mean when I say that a trail activated elbow is as important in anyone's golf swing as it is important in a good quarterback football player, throwing his football. Cheers P.S. Hope you have your students try 'the magic trail elbow' as their one swing thought. I know it will help them as it helped me finally achieve my swing goals at 72. Cheers.
Mark Crisp yes our elbows are composed of billions of radial and ulnar nerves endings that makes connections up to our brain and down to our hands and wrist. Theses billion of neurons communicates subconsciously to our central and somatic nervous systems in our body on how our body must respond altogether and in sequence to our intentions of swinging the club head to release the ball off the ground. When we focus too much on a million swing thoughts or at just striking hard at the ball with the head of the club our brain disconnect from our original intention of just swinging the club. Cheers Try something odd for me. After you aim and set up to the ball. Simply swing with your elbows and allow your body to respond naturally and altogether. Be sure to end your swing with your intention of finishing your swing standing up with your trail elbow pointing to your target. Let me know how it works out for you good or bad. Cheers
Thomas Fraser You discovered Harvey Penick’s ‘magic move’. It’s mentioned several times in the (arguably) most famous golf instructional book of all time - The Little Red Book’
C Ross absolutely correct have mentioned Harvey Penick's 2 magic moves of golf on other post of mine. Thank you for noticing. I hope you try it out for yourself; if you haven't already. Cheers
Tried the 60% left side tip today on the course and I used an accustrike mat too. So much better strike. Airmailed a few greens ! Now to keep at it ! Thank you
Clubhead awareness, you nailed it!... Swinging slow and smooth creates power and clubhead speed. It's a hard process to grasp but this device provides immediate feedback for a good swing sequence. If you get too fast with the arms or hands the shaft will bend, the clubhead will spring ahead of the shaft and you'll feel it in your wrist!... Again, clubhead awareness. You can spend hours videoing your swing and probably never see the shaft; loading, unloading, and kick. One or two full swings with this training club and you'll feel what you're doing wrong. This is not a quick fix, it is a long-term process but I believe it will lead to consistent ball striking... For me, nothing worse or more frustrating in golf than hitting a good drive with a mid or short iron into a green and consistently hitting it fat, thin, pull or slicing it...
I'm curious to know if you feel this device encourages a slower swing speed? Since you can't 'pull down' on the handle, or use other 'explosive' types of mechanics how do I transition to my real clubs and find the distance I would look to create with this product?

How did you usual shafts feel after swinging these?
Well done, Steve. Even the inventor doesn’t explain it that well.
