They are treated equally as the same as other indonesian citizens. The governor are native papuans and most government officials in papua are native papuan. Benny Wenda only wants Papua for his own tribe (the mountain tribe) while Papuan are very diverse and within Indonesia all tribes are equal. You see most coastal tribes are pro Indonesia because they are more hardworking they get along with other indonesians these making Wenda tribes feel marginalized. They are hundreds of tribes in west Papua, indonesia what makes them united.
Do not call Papua New Guinea poor because Papua New Guinea and Jayapura are the same. PNG has resources which other countries are fighting to grab for it can you see Japanese tried to fight for Papua New Guinea during WWII, and now Chinese are investing in PNG but Australia is standing strong for png because Australia gave independent to PNG before 1975 PNG prime Minister was Australian prime Minister. PNG has plenty of resources like oil, gold, salt, land and over 8 hundred languages and different cultures, so woman listen carefully, people are not looking for expensive life but they are looking for freedom to live peaceful life.

Well, I got a breaking news for you also. If what we want on 21st century is freedom and self determination, West Papua and Papua province have got it already.
Indonesia has shifted to become decentralized government country. Which means, all provinces have right to rule and issue their own local law, determine their fate, freedom of speech, etc.
Indonesia has also shifted to become the third largest democracy country in the world. Direct election to the president, free press to observe government, opposition, you name it.
The bad political decision in Papua is also observed and broadcasted to other parts of Indonesia, and other parts of Indonesia also think that Papua is their far east brothers and sisters.
The president is putting Papua as "the golden kid" province in his administration. That means, Papua development is on his top priority. Because he realised the past corrupt government mistakes. He knew the fact that fairness and freedom in all aspect must be achieved for every Indonesian citizens, from west to east, Papua included.
The not good news is, this has just been going on for less than 20 years. Means the progress is there but it takes time. That's why you can't compare it again on the previousn55 years of Indonesia corrupt government. It's bad history that we have to admit and look forward to the future.
I know that you are educated PNG citizen. As educated person, you might want to interest your self on looking at the other side of the news. Maybe not limiting your news source on West Papua freedom, but also on Papua West Papua development.
