I’m Orthodox, but I have the highest respect for Catholics who choose to go Latin Mass. This is how your saints prayed. This is the legacy your ancestors preserved. Don’t be the generation to end it.
@Natewatl this form of the mass has been around since the 600s, not Trent. Common misconception. Trent solidified and unified what Pope Gregory the Great installed.
No such thing as a modern mass. There is the modern religious service celebrated by Reverend whomever. But the TLM has been around long before the French Revolution.
I am a 17 year old catholic desperately hoping for the Traditional Latin Mass to become the norm. I was raised with the Novus Ordo Mass, and I want to attend the TLM so badly. I was always raised Catholic but I was lax and it took me being extremely humbled to realize how much I need God (which is totally). God bless you all there is hope for the Church if we make our voices heard. If we stay silent and do not pray for this Mass, then we cannot expect it to rebound! Hail Mary...
Username11 Please write your bishop or his office and let him know you desire the Latin mass in your diocese! Our bishops won’t even try to bring back the Latin mass unless he sees a groundswell in support of it within his jurisdiction!
Jesus did not talk about rituals. He taught how to act and how to pray if you wanted to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, which he expected would soon arrive. His Mass was conducted in his language, Aramaic -- not the language of Caesar. His prayer was simple and direct, not chanted and enhanced with incense and lavish robes. Your "desperate hope" has nothing to do with the teaching of Jesus, and everything to do with your ego and your desire for spectacle and ritual. But as a first step in preparing yourself for the great day when you will watch a Latin mass, I suggest you study Latin so you can understand -- without a crib sheet -- what is being said. If you can't even do that, I wonder how "desperate" you really are.

THE ONE To understand why your charge does not work, one must first understand the use of the word “father” in reference to our earthly fathers. No one would deny a little girl the opportunity to tell someone that she loves her father. Common sense tells us that Jesus wasn’t forbidding this type of use of the word “father.” In fact, to forbid it would rob the address “Father” of its meaning when applied to God, for there would no longer be any earthly counterpart for the analogy of divine Fatherhood. The concept of God’s role as Father would be meaningless if we obliterated the concept of earthly fatherhood. But in the Bible the concept of fatherhood is not restricted to just our earthly fathers and God. It is used to refer to people other than biological or legal fathers, and is used as a sign of respect to those with whom we have a special relationship. For example, Joseph tells his brothers of a special fatherly relationship God had given him with the king of Egypt: “So it was not you who sent me here, but God; and he has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house and ruler over all the land of Egypt” (Gen. 45:8). Job indicates he played a fatherly role with the less fortunate: “I was a father to the poor, and I searched out the cause of him whom I did not know” (Job 29:16). And God himself declares that he will give a fatherly role to Eliakim, the steward of the house of David: “In that day I will call my servant Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah . . . and I will clothe him with [a] robe, and will bind [a] girdle on him, and will commit . . . authority to his hand; and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah” (Isa. 22:20-21). This type of fatherhood applies not only to those who are wise counselors (like Joseph) or benefactors (like Job) or both (like Eliakim); it also applies to those who have a fatherly spiritual relationship with one. For example, Elisha cries, “My father, my father!” to Elijah as the latter is carried up to heaven in a whirlwind (2 Kgs. 2:12). Later, Elisha himself is called a father by the king of Israel (2 Kgs. 6:21).
THE ONE Some Protestants argue that this usage changed with the New Testament-that while it may have been permissible to call certain men “father” in the Old Testament, since the time of Christ, it’s no longer allowed. This argument fails for several reasons. First, as we’ve seen, the imperative “call no man father” does not apply to one’s biological father. It also doesn’t exclude calling one’s ancestors “father,” as is shown in Acts 7:2, where Stephen refers to “our father Abraham,” or in Romans 9:10, where Paul speaks of “our father Isaac.” Second, there are numerous examples in the New Testament of the term “father” being used as a form of address and reference, even for men who are not biologically related to the speaker. There are, in fact, so many uses of “father” in the New Testament, that the objection to Catholics calling priests “father” must be wrong, as we shall see. Third, a careful examination of the context of Matthew 23 shows that Jesus didn’t intend for his words here to be understood literally. The whole passage reads, “But you are not to be called ‘rabbi,’ for you have one teacher, and you are all brethren. And call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven. Neither be called ‘masters,’ for you have one master, the Christ” (Matt. 23:8-10). The first problem is that although Jesus seems to prohibit the use of the term “teacher,” in Matthew 28:19-20, Christ himself appointed certain men to be teachers in his Church: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations . . . teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” Paul speaks of his commission as a teacher: “For this I was appointed a preacher and apostle . . . a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth” (1 Tim. 2:7); “For this gospel I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher” (2 Tim. 1:11). He also reminds us that the Church has an office of teacher: “God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers” (1 Cor. 12:28); and “his gifts were that some should be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers” (Eph. 4:11). There is no doubt that Paul was not violating Christ’s teaching in Matthew 23 by referring so often to others as “teachers.” Fundamentalists themselves slip up on this point by calling all sorts of people “doctor”; for example, professors and scientists who have Ph.D. degrees (i.e., doctorates). What they fail to realize is that “doctor” is simply the Latin word for “teacher.” Even “Mister” and “Mistress” (“Mrs.”) are forms of the word “master,” also mentioned by Jesus. So if his words in Matthew 23 were meant to be taken literally, Fundamentalists would be just as guilty for using the word “teacher” and “doctor” and “mister” as Catholics for saying “father.” But clearly, that would be a misunderstanding of Christ’s words.
THE ONE So you must ask, what did Jesus mean? Jesus criticized Jewish leaders who love “the place of honor at feasts and the best seats in the synagogues, and salutations in the market places, and being called ‘rabbi’ by men” (Matt. 23:6-7). He was using hyperbole (exaggeration) to show the scribes and Pharisees how sinful and proud they were for not looking humbly to God as the source of all authority and fatherhood and teaching, and instead setting themselves up as the ultimate authorities, father figures, and teachers. Christ used hyperbole often, for example when he declared, “If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it away; it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell” (Matt. 5:29, cf. 18:9; Mark 9:47). Christ certainly did not intend this to be applied literally, for otherwise all Christians would be blind amputees! (cf. 1 John 1:8; 1 Tim. 1:15). Jesus is not forbidding us to call men “fathers” who actually are such either literally or spiritually. He is warning people against inaccurately attributing fatherhood or a particular kind or degree of fatherhood to those who do not have it.
A friend of mine is the music director at this Cathedral. They have music like this as part of their regular Novus Ordo mass... also, note the 20th setting of Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence at 1:03:30 in English. More churches need to do music like this! One more thing: this music is SO MUCH BETTER in person.
Martin, God is with you. Catholicism is the only true Religion. The rest are schisms or heresies. Blessed are those who survive the God's test how strong their faith is.
joannabuk I totally agree with you ! It's a really shame to see that a large majority of Catholics and even the Pope (!) don't believe this truth anymore !
They did not even follow the rubrics of The Traditional Catholic Latin Mass of the Roman Rite? There are only Three Steps going up to the Altar. I did not see their Altar as it is covered. The Church encloses the relics of the saints especially those of the martyrs in the altar-stone (does anyone knows there's an altar-stone in there? I might be wrong.) at the very spot where the priest places the Sacred Host or maybe The Priest has that special cloth to celebrate the Mass upon. I just pray they used the high Altar to say Mass not the Ordo Mass table. Well we are in trouble. Just pray everything will revert back to the old bygone days of the Mass of the Angels.

Raised catholic, left the faith, came back, used to the novus ordo, just turned 31 and attended my first latin mass. Went there and was lost, but decided to follow along what people were doing. Now that it settled down, i realized i will just observe the mass and be in awe with its beauty, there is no need to hush my understanding, i must only be reverent If i may ask something of you people, it would be to fight for this mass never to end and for the conversion of my wife, for she is protestant. P.S.: sorry for all mistakes, non native speaker here.
I think you just confused because of your wife. If you only strengthened your Faith, you will never go back to the stumbling circular conversion leaving the Faith and return, and the same recurring cycle. Bro, you need Apologetics and trust me, no Catholic Faithful failed this one. Your wife should not become more superior than you because you are the husband, the head of the family and your direct Head is Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 11:3). Even the Holy Scripture tells us that the woman should submit to her man (Eph. 5:22-23). If your wife truly loves you, she must respect your beliefs and share mutual faith in Jesus. If she do not, she is prideful and that's a toxic feminist attitude she had. No true believer of Christ ever ditch his husband because of the differences of Faith practices. Go back to the Faith my bro but you need to study Catholic Apologetics first with understanding and humility so you will know the True Christianity in Catholicism deeper. Do not convince her because you cannot convince her like that. Convince yourself and the Truth itself will convince all things around you. A True Christian is persecuted even with her wife but Faith is important in relationship. May the Good LORD guide you always and your wife to the Truth! Pray the Holy Rosary bro and equip your Faith with humble Apologetics.

Me too. I am fortunate enough that there are churches that hold the Traditional Mass with 10 miles of me. I am going to attend my first one soon.👍🏻 A question, I see some women have their heads covered and some do not. What is the rule on this? I don’t want to do the wrong thing.
@@stephaniemac4637 You're allowed to do what you want, you'll go and see what it's like. I personally wish more women did veil (but when not many do I'm embarassed and don't want to stick out, so I don't do it at the NO mass I attend). I just ordered a veil (meantime I just used scarfs when attending Latin mass when in Poland), I find it very feminine, traditional and a sign of reverence and respect. I also wish people made more effort to dress nicely when going to mass (something my local NO has gone insanely liberal on), so men in suit/tie or nicely dress and women modestly in dresses/skirts with veils. When I go to my local one now children are in tracksuits, some people look like they rolled out of bed (fyi I welcome the poor and homeless, where others have shunned I've sat next to, however these people I'm mentioning are not from poverty yet not bothered, showing up with shopping bags too. So it's fine if you're travelling somewhere and make time for mass (hence rucksack/luggage) but shopping bags with clothes and makeup? really?). I'm disparing. I want to take communion kneeling but the priest reprimanded it (saying such people think they're holier than thou (I'm paraphrasing)) ... it takes courage. I would love for it to be at least taking communion kneeling and it not being completely sticking out like a sore thumb to be nicely dressed for a special occassion (i.e. going to the house of God) and being veild. Sigh. So excited to get my veil! but it'll be a few weeks, so just anticipating :)
I come from a family that is Word of Faith/prosperity believers. Im told we have to see tongues, miracles, demons cast out etc to see a moment that is full of the Holy Ghost. But.... I see this and ask "cant this be a moment that has the true presence of the Holy Spirit of Jesus?" After careful and sincere prayer, I am going to RCIA. Pray for me my brothers!!!!
Am 73 n have just got video which has not nostalgically brought the memories of my baptism in the fifties but also the reason why I joined R Church as a boy aged 7. As I continue watching..I shed tears for being catholic.
My 25 year old son discovered this Mass of all ages here in SoCal and then all three of us , including my husband , now clearly understand this is the way to adore God appropriately with true reverence for the Sacrifice of the Mass, Jesus!!! We now know that Mass is for us to repair, offer, receive Jesus, adore, and give thanksgiving in a manner inspired by the Holy Spirit through the work of holy saints and doctors of the Church. Why would anyone dare tamper with something so sublime!!
Because A LOT of people didn't understand Latin and were observers not participants. Bear in mind that the Latin language rite was formalized by Trent... Not by Jesus. Btw, the mass here is a high Mass... Not even common back in the day.
I'm a young woman from Poland, but I discovered Traditional Mass in 2011. It's the future of Church. Francis can't banned Mass of All Ages. I'm thankfull for SSPX..
This has a beauty to it that more casual church services don't. Watching this it feels like entering a sacred space, something different from ordinary life. You feel a sense of the sacred with this that isn't quite there with modern services.
I almost 100% agree, but that's only because I have had the luck to land in a parish with priests who manage to bring lots of devotion and sacredness into the modern service. I must say I was absolutely not enthusiastic about things I've seen in other places though. Still, gonna look for attending a FSSP mass soon, because this definitely is what I'm looking for.
I am Eastern Orthodox but very much adore the Latin traditions. The Latin mass is superior to the false and protestantised novus ordo, for sure. God bless you, brothers and sisters. Glory to Jesus Christ Most Holy Virgin Mary, pray for us ☦✝️
As a Daughter of the Holy Apostolic See of Blessed Saint Peter, I thank you Orthodox Brother! Please, help us to elevate our prayers for this beautiful tradition to come back! It may not be enough for some, but for me, this elevates my heart and mind towards the Almighty, and I pray for this tradition to return. For some who find the novus ordo to suffice, I feel so happy that it feeds their souls with the word of the Lord! For me, who am stubborn and quite frankly willful, only the solemnity of the Traditional Latin Mass feeds my senses, soul, and elevates my mind to the wonderful mysteries of the Lord. I have no shame in admitting that I am a sinner who needs the structure, discipline and solemnity of the TLM to move me closer to God. I need this, for the good of my soul. Therefore: I confess to almighty God And to you my brothers and sisters, That I have greatly sinned, In my thoughts, in my words, In what I have done and in what I have failed to do, Through *my* fault, through *my* fault, through *my most grievous fault* Therefore I ask blessed Mary, ever Virgin, And all the Angels and Saints, And to you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God. - The prayer of The Confiteor, "I confess"
My current pastor was one of the priests celebrating this beautiful Mass. Although a cradle Catholic, I am now learning my Catholic faith properly in the FSSP parish he pastors. Despite attending Catholic schools through high school in the ‘60s and ‘70s I’m only now realizing the confusion of the times that resulted in not the best catechesis. Profoundly grateful for my FSSP parish and this reverent Latin Mass.
I grew up with the modern Mass and hated going. In my 50’s, I found because of Covid, the traditional Latin Mass. I went to confession the first chance I got and confessed over 40years of sins. I love the TLM. It is so reverent and holy and totally focused on God.

@@TriciaRP The Ark wasn’t brought into Jerusalem during a Liturgy. There is absolutely nothing wrong with up-beat music using percussion, even when praising God. It just isn’t suitable for the Liturgy. The Catholic Liturgy is a memorial of what Christ did for us on the cross. If you were watching Christ die on the cross, would you be dancing for joy and crashing cymbals? I think not. If you wouldn’t do it in front of the cross, you shouldn’t do it at the Liturgy.
@@terioze9 Is it true that there is a traditional Catholic resurrection in France? I live in the former Protestant now atheist part of Germany and I have to say being Catholic can be kinda lonely here for a young man. Watching videos like this makes me YEARN for a traditional Catholic community! Sadly, here in my city, the only ones who offer traditional Mass is the FSSPX.
I just wanted to say: If you're a Traditional Catholic reading this: you're valid. If you're a Novus Ordo Catholic: You're valid and just as Catholic. Just because you can't attend TLM doesn't mean you're less. Your faith and your desire to love God is what matters ❤ Sure, Novus Ordo isn't exactly as reverent and respectful, but it is still a valid Mass. I was raised and went to Novus Ordo only, because this is what is most prevalent nowadays. I understand the struggles that come from The Novus Ordo mindset and how they try to water down the faith. I lost my faith as a young teenager and I came back to Christ's Church. However, I almost lost my faith completely again due to the things that were happening in my parish and the lack of reverence and seriousness. This is when God blessed me with a friend who was a Traditional Catholic that guided me back to the Tradition of the church. I've been attending the Old Holy Mass for about 3 months now and I can say that I've never felt more convicted about my faith than now. Sure, I still struggle. I'm still in the process of transitioning from NO to Traditional. But it's all worth it. I am so grateful to the LORD for guiding me and being my strength through it all. This Mass is the most beautiful and reverent and it just makes you feel complete and fulfilled. I'm also grateful that there's a few churches (3 that I know of) that offer the TLM not too far away from my home. All glory to GOD ✝️❤
AntiFem Glasscock 1. The church converted Europe and the Americas and many other countries and continents with this mass and did the natives to those lands know how to speak Latin? I don’t think so. Also the benefit of it being a dead language is that the meaning of the words can now never be changed and since it now has no affiliation to any country on Earth, it is a universal language that everyone can use therefore making the Church universal. 2. When you’re worshipping your Creator it’s not supposed to be about you and whether you are able to feel a part of it. It’s about God. That’s why the priest faces away from the people. It’s because the focal point of the mass is God(tabernacle) and not the congregation. Your gripe with the Latin mass can all be summed up to that it doesn’t involve you. And that’s the problem, it’s not supposed to be about you.
Renee R. It was thrown away. It wasn’t until Pope Benedict XVI’s “Summorium Pointificum” that allowed local parishes to do Latin mass without the bishops approval.

Because it was made freely back in 2007 you just have to find a priest willing to do the Latin Mass. Before 2007 the bishop's had to approve of it and being in America that was really rare but Benedict made the decision up to the priest. So just look around I'm sure you can find a latin mass.

I was baptized and confirmed into the Roman Catholic Church on April 6th 2023 AD in the Extraordinary Form and I am beyond grateful to God for honoring me entrance into His Church through this eternal, Heavenly Rite. This particular video I come back to over and over again. There’s really no words to describe how beautiful and transcendent this is…even those words don’t scratch the surface. I have faith in the younger generation - they will bring the Extraordinary Form back to the forefront of the Church. Amen.
I agree, today's novus ordo is a banal attempt at a Protestant worship service with a Eucharist jammed in the middle, add the four hymn folk music sandwich and a Gloria that makes you cringe singing it and you have a disaster. The problem is it was invented by a committee and therefore, like anything invented by a committee it is a reflection of the times and can never live up to the truly supernatural. The Latin mass is timeless, not invented by anyone, but is an organic development. It's like trying to compare a beautiful serene lake in nature to a public swimming pool.
+Patrick Binter The Eucharist, being the high point of the mass that it is deserves reverence and serene beauty. The liturgy and the Eucharist are intrinsically linked.
+Patrick Stevens not really.. some of the most beautiful masses were celebrated in places where elegance couldn't be implemented. Think of missionaries celebrating in secret, or a chaplin saying mass on the eve of a battle. The posh of a sophisticated liturgy doesn't equate devotion. Quite the contrary in many cases I'd say
+Patrick Binter No, what you call posh doesn't equate devotion, nor does it take away from the validity of the mass. However, my opinion is that the Tridentine mass is more beautiful and reverent and deserving of what is actually taking place at the altar. Those examples you site are extreme and not at all the norm, we're not living under those circumstances and I fail to see how they are beautiful in comparison to a solemn high mass. The mass should be celebrated with as much elegance and beauty as is possible to the community.
Yes, both have pros and cons The main thing to consider is that on both, Christ Jesus comes down to us at the Consecration so that we can receive Him in Holy Communion We are also able to adore Him when He is solemnly exposed and receive His Blessing at Benediction. The best thing to do is to attend the Holy Mass with the greatest devotion. The Priests offering the Mass must make sure that abuses are not committed by instructions and their example. I want to get out of the world I don’t want to be a part of the WORLD. I need sacred. I want to worship and revere my God and not MAN. Jesus pray for us all. I'm protestant and if the catholic church starts with the Traditional Latin Mass again I will go to it every time I can. Jesus have mercy with the whole church in the world. Unite us. Kyrie eleison.
Why you Catholics would throw this beautiful tradition out of the window in favor of the new mass is beyond me. This is so incredibly beautiful and solemn! Too bad in Brazil we seldom see this kind of ritual performed because of our incredibly impoverished aesthetical sensibilities and our strong charismatic affiliations. Nothing against those guys, but I would love to attend to something like this instead of what seem like a modern protestant service rip-off... It might've even made me a catholic if this kind of beauty was still common.
Talk to your priest about it, write your bishop. Get fellow parishioners to write letters, and tell them, "This is our heritage! We are Catholics first, and this is what it means to be Catholic!"
gre8 Well, Good News, as of 2007, Priests can freely offer this Mass any time they want, and any time the faithful desire it, both forms are now equal, as Benedict XVI said they had really always been, the Old Guard still do not recognize this, many of the younger priests however do, so the future looks bright for the Latin Mass.
Christopher Martin True enough, but the years that people have taken all that away and replaced it with modernist freaky looking things and cheesy music has been pretty bad on the Church, who would take the Catholic Church seriously when they walk in and hear "Kumbaya"?, when people see the Latin Mass, they are struck by its feel, and all the incense, bells and "pretty" vestments has a lot do do with putting us in a state of mind, as well the environment of our surroundings, we aren't puritans, we are Catholics, don't be afraid of beauty.
There was nothing more sacred, uplifting, and more deeply experienced then our traditional Latin Mass. Centuries of faith and binding our attachment to God. Look at us now.
Praying that I'll see this in my lifetime. It will change the world, it will show this humanistic, atheistic secular world, that the 2 lungs of Christ will overcome and endure until our Saviours return.
I wish my church did Traditional mass. The Organ is so beautiful. Makes me think of what Heaven sounds like when get passed the gates. May God have mercy on all souls
gre8, it was not thrown out the window. It is alive and well. I am a child of the new rite and now I attend the Latin solemn mass nearly every Sunday. I rarely attended mass before. Then, a former teacher of mine who is also a priest referred me to the parish where the latin mass is offered. I find it is an incredibly spiritual and contemplative experience that replenishes you from the banalities and grind of the modern world.
Now that's piety in practice. Today's masses have no reverence (holy fear) of God. The Gregorian chant sang in this video really makes me feel solace because of the solemnity of the The Traditional Latin Mass. I pray this mass comes back as a norm.

I get to go to this mass every week. We have it in a plain old converted Baptist Church, now blessed and Catholic but still nothing compared to most any Catholic church built before 1950. I may not know the latin language but I am amazed at the power of this mass. While attending this mass, God's Grace flows into me as nothing I have experienced before. I drive an hour each way for this blessing. I don't understand why it was replaced by a mass that focuses on the Priest rather than on God.
Twenty-six years ago my wife and I went to a latin Mass: we were both so stunned that we never looked back. It was a High Mass (chanted like this one, but not as complex), but we even loved the Low Masses (which are only spoken). Best wishes to finding the one nearest you, and may you receive the same blessings we did.
@@TriciaRP Sorry Trisha, would you prefer it if people were rolling around on the ground and screaming like the churches you go to? People who do that seem like theyre doing a lot of feeling, and not a lot of worshipping.
Pater Noster, Qui es in caelis, sanctificetur Nomen Tuum, adveniat regnum Tuum, fiat voluntas Tua, sicut in caelo et in terra. Panem nostrum cotidianum da nobis hodie, et dimitte nobis débita nostra sicut et nos dimíttimus debitóribus nostris. Et ne nos inducas in tentationem, sed libéranos a malo. Amen.
The solemnity of the Traditional Latin Mass brings me to tears. I am proud to be a Roman Catholic, an orthodox one. God Bless you all. God Bless Holy Mother Church.
The church has lost more since Vatican ll than it has gained. Most Catholics now feel it isn't necessary to attend Mass and the traditions have gone by the way side. My little church in my little town sees about 15 faithful every Sunday. What a shame.
Pope Francis is moving in the right direction. He needs to open the church up to all and not just pay lip service to it. I don't go to mass for the priest. I go to worship God in his house. There should be more fellowship in the Catholic Church. Not just doing the rituals and leaving without really knowing your fellow worshipers. There is still too much division and angry old men running things.
This is near where I live, I plan on attending as soon churches reopen. Watching this, the service feels to me more like engaging with the mystery of life than any mass I've ever attended.
Beautiful! I was baptized at this cathedral on Oct 30, 1955. I don't remember a thing about it and we never attended Mass there because we moved out to the Town & Country area near Carmichael. We sure never had a solemn high Mass like this at our funky little new-at-the-time parish.
Shiea was right. I've never experienced TLM in any form. I found this deeply moving. I think there's one church in my city that still does the Latin mass, this needs to come back for sure.

If Only We Had All Our Churches Like This Again. Truly I’m Sadden How Our Churches Become. The Traditional Latin Mass Is Scared. We Must Come Back To The Traditional 🙏🏼✝️🌹❤️🔥
If I were the Pope, I would do everything within my power to keep the Tridentine mass alive. I understand that some people may feel that they are not in full participation in the mass, which is why I would encourage greater participation of the laity. Maybe some parts of the liturgy could be translated into the vernacular. But the Tridentine mass should be made more available to the people. This is not to say that the Mass of Paul VI isn't valid. I just think that the Second Vatican Council brought unintended consequences for some aspects of Catholic tradition.
I grew up with this. Since now I am old, 73, do not remember much, practically nothing, and just when I hit my rebellious teens also the Church had a tantrum and changed the Traditional Latin Mass. I walked away, not totally, I attended Mass ocasionally, Weddings, baptisms, I traveled and visited churches everywhere. I came back some 35 years back, to the new Mass, the only one around. Now I find this controversy and I am conflict, while the Latin Mass is beautiful, the last I attended, in Holy Land, with monks singing Gregorian chants and I wish there were in my Church, so extraordinary! I only have Mass in English and Spanish to choose from.
My father says he remembers when my grandmother used to go the Latin Mass using a veil, now the church looks like a parking garage. I'm not even christian anymore, but if someone wants to call upon the name of God, beauty is fundamental.
Wolfram von Vyller, the Wizard - Yes, beauty is fundamental. Where do you see the line between being Christian and not-Christian? Do you believe in a non-Christian God? I am Christian, Catholic. Why not?
I can definitely see the connection between earth and Heaven right at the altar! Definitely our Lord Jesus Christ is truly present in the Holy Eucharist!! 🙏🙏
I'm a Muslim and I love the way the Roman Catholic teaches about, sex, marriage and Jesus. I believe I want to become a Roman Catholic.

@Natewatl this form of the mass has been around since the 600s, not Trent. Common misconception. Trent solidified and unified what Pope Gregory the Great installed.

No access to traditional Latin mass. I'm 30 and didn't got a chance to participate in the traditional Latin mass in kerala, India.
I agreed completely l loved my.mass in Latin

THE ONE Well she is the mother of God... There’s a reason why St. Elisabeth when meeting Mary said that she was “the mother of my Lord”.
THE ONE To understand why your charge does not work, one must first understand the use of the word “father” in reference to our earthly fathers. No one would deny a little girl the opportunity to tell someone that she loves her father. Common sense tells us that Jesus wasn’t forbidding this type of use of the word “father.”
In fact, to forbid it would rob the address “Father” of its meaning when applied to God, for there would no longer be any earthly counterpart for the analogy of divine Fatherhood.
It also doesn’t exclude calling one’s ancestors “father,” as is shown in Acts 7:2, where Stephen refers to “our father Abraham,” or in Romans 9:10, where Paul speaks of “our father Isaac.”
Second, there are numerous examples in the New Testament of the term “father” being used as a form of address and reference, even for men who are not biologically related to the speaker.
As a Catholic who has only ever attended Novus Ordo masses, this is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen and heard!

Now that it settled down, i realized i will just observe the mass and be in awe with its beauty, there is no need to hush my understanding, i must only be reverent
If i may ask something of you people, it would be to fight for this mass never to end and for the conversion of my wife, for she is protestant.
P.S.: sorry for all mistakes, non native speaker here.
Why did you go back?

Me too. I am fortunate enough that there are churches that hold the Traditional Mass with 10 miles of me. I am going to attend my first one soon.👍🏻
A question, I see some women have their heads covered and some do not.

Thanks to Cardinal Hozjusz, Holy Father Pius V & Benedykt XVI for Trident Liturgy
Because A LOT of people didn't understand Latin and were observers not participants.
Bear in mind that the Latin language rite was formalized by Trent... Not by Jesus.
Btw, the mass here is a high Mass... Not even common back in the day.
unfortunately my parents didn't believe me that this mass is the valid one not the novus ordo protesntant service mass
This is the Catholic Church mass I grew up with, such a beautiful ceremony. Pre Vatican II solemn high mass. I loved the aroma of the incense.
I'm a young woman from Poland, but I discovered Traditional Mass in 2011. It's the future of Church. Francis can't banned Mass of All Ages. I'm thankfull for SSPX..
Lucky you. It's impossible to find a Latin Mass in my country

Most Holy Virgin Mary, pray for us
☦✝️
There is nothing false about novus ordo, nor is TLM superior.
Therefore:
I confess to almighty God
And to you my brothers and sisters,
That I have greatly sinned,
In my thoughts, in my words,
In what I have done and in what I have failed to do,
Through *my* fault, through *my* fault, through *my most grievous fault*
Therefore I ask blessed Mary, ever Virgin,
And all the Angels and Saints,
And to you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.

I just wanted to say:
If you're a Traditional Catholic reading this: you're valid.
If you're a Novus Ordo Catholic: You're valid and just as Catholic.
Just because you can't attend TLM doesn't mean you're less. Your faith and your desire to love God is what matters ❤
Sure, Novus Ordo isn't exactly as reverent and respectful, but it is still a valid Mass.
Bring this back! We need the Latin Mass back.
And that’s the problem, it’s not supposed to be about you.

taking latin mass out of the catholic church is like taking heart out from the human body
No. Taking the EUCHARIST our of the Catholic Church is like taking the heart out of the human body
The Holy Latin Mass is the true Mass to many of us
Dear Lord bring it back
The Novus Ordo is nothing compared to the absolute serenity of the Tridentine rite.
They both have their pro’s and con’s I think dioceses should offer a healthy balance of both and encourage people to make an effort to go to both.
Yes, both have pros and cons
The main thing to consider is that on both, Christ Jesus comes down to us at the Consecration so that we can receive Him in Holy Communion
We are also able to adore Him when He is solemnly exposed and receive His Blessing at Benediction. The best thing to do is to attend the Holy Mass with the greatest devotion. The Priests offering the Mass must make sure that abuses are not committed by instructions and their example.

They are both valid. Really mass is not about our enjoyment but instead about worshipping God regardless of however humbly.

We are Catholics first, and this is what it means to be Catholic!"
gre8 Well, Good News, as of 2007, Priests can freely offer this Mass any time they want, and any time the faithful desire it, both forms are now equal, as Benedict XVI said they had really always been, the Old Guard still do not recognize this, many of the younger priests however do, so the future looks bright for the Latin Mass.
gre8 I am a younger man and the "new" mass is all that I know....
The Holy Mass is NOT about pretty vestments, bells, and incense. It is about calvary and our lords sacrifice for you and me. Peace be with you.
I’ve been going to Latin mass almost every Sunday for 6 months and I love it. I’m a changed woman.
There was nothing more sacred, uplifting, and more deeply experienced then our traditional Latin Mass. Centuries of faith and binding our attachment to God. Look at us now.

Shiea was right. I've never experienced TLM in any form. I found this deeply moving. I think there's one church in my city that still does the Latin mass, this needs to come back for sure.
This type of music has become one of my favorites, it is relaxing and at the same time great, creating the incredible atmosphere!
We need to get back to this...
After II Vatican council, we lost this mass, Now it's just Thanksgiving mass instead of repeat of Holy sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. Holy Spirit will bring this back to Church!!!
Bring back the Latin Mass. The TRUE Mass.
Jeremiah 5:14-15

Ezekiel 3:4-6
King James Version
4 And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them.
5 For thou art not sent to a people of a strange speech and of an hard language, but to the house of Israel;
6 Not to many people of a strange speech and of an hard language, whose words thou canst not understand. Surely, had I sent thee to them, they would have hearkened unto thee.

9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.
( Where did the 2nd commandment go? Did it get tossed into the ditch? And parted the 10th into two 'thy shalt not covet'? )

5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
7 For the MYSTERY OF INIQUITY doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

Mystically it came to represent our inclusion into Christ’s body by our baptism. The priest says: “By the mystery of the water and wine, may we come to share in the divinity of Christ who humbled himself to share in our humanity.

I love the holy mass said in Latin.
Am Catholic by convert.
I'm not Catholic, but boy do I sure love a great Mass, especially a Latin one.

I am Catholic. As were my other ten siblings...thank you, our Saint and mother. Thy name is Grace!!!!!!🙏🙏
That choir at 56.40 - 58.30! Music from Heaven, of angels. The Glory of the Latin Mass!
I love the tridentine Mass .
My heart and soul belong to the Tridentine Mass! The sense of adoration here is great!
