    1:26 The dust bowl happened in 1935 because of the "damaging" farming going on in the Midwest. Farmers migrated west and that is when the west we saw in the 50's and 60's started to take form...

      @jademonkie 5 лет назад

      The dust bowl was not just a one year event. Conditions began developing in 1930 and lasted until 1939 when normal weather patterns returned to the middle part of the country. The middle 30’s were the time of some of the largest storms.
      The dustbowl was a combination of several circumstances, not just farmers alone.
      And the migration began in 1862 with the Homestead Act, the Kinkaid Act of 1904 and the Enlarged Homestead Act of 1909 which encouraged pioneers to move west to populate the country. A great many of these settlers had no previous farming experience and were plowing up unproductive soil types.
      Fence rows are not a result of the dust bowl.
      Fence rows or hedgerows, as the name implies were first used as fences to contain livestock before the mass production and availability of mass produced fencing supplies.
      Also in the upper Midwest there was and still is extensive use of tree lines as protection from winter winds, blowing and drifting snow. Many farmsteads even today can be seen ringed by tree lines to protect from the cold winter elements.

    I'm at the point where you mention signs, and I heard somewhere that the RxR sign has to at least be 300 ft from the tracks

    I live along an old conrail line now owned by csx and I see a lot of crossings on the line without gates and I think something like that would be little more cooler. Not telling you the atlas crossings are bad don’t get me wrong I like seeing crossings with gates and watching them go down but I think scenery wise crossings with no gates would fit perfectly with this sort of line

    • @ApproachMedium
      @ApproachMedium  6 лет назад

      Most of the crossings in the city area are like that. Since this is supposed to be a busy spot with freight and tourist trains, as well as regular picnickers, bikers and hikers, I thought they'd probably have some extra crossing protection here.

    I think you can copy and paste the terrain height over as a large a space as a baseplate, but I think it takes a little bit to process it.

    I like short line routes a lot, and this is my second favorite route. The first (sorry) is Lt. Bligh's magnificent Adriana County found on the Steam Workshop for Dovetail's Train Simulator.

    I think you should make a route and base it on the DM&IR

    so your telling me that for 10 USD I can type "first" and actually be first? With the state of RUclips culture that's the most valuable thing available to me (lol)
    I love the route so far.

    Hey Approach Medium. You probably don't know me. I'm friends with WIT Entertainment and been friends for years. We both are streamers. If you need any Beta Testing for your routes I would be honor to test them out for ya. :). Let me know when you decide to do so.
