    I wonder if my outlander can handle this trail, it's rated as able but everyone here is driving something so much bigger! I drive to Squamish here and there and never knew this place existed :O

      The rules have changed, and camping is no longer allowed near the river. Environmental impact stuff etc... I have to assume from people driving in the river like the guys in the vid. I think 55k or so.

    We were camping in the elaho the night the big fire broke out a decade ago. We saw the smoke a km or 2 to the north just at sunset and by 6am the valley was filled with smoke. We packed up and got out of there and called it in. According the forest service we were the earliest report. Sad to see how the valley has changed since then

    First of all some great pics and video, something to keep in mind however is the area you camped on is spawning habitat in that system so driving and camping there is not great for the fry at that time of year.

    • @Beacon_Offroad
      @Beacon_Offroad  6 месяцев назад

      Hey Carl, first off, thank you. Secondly, as an avid salmon angler myself, you're absolutely correct. The people in the video were not part of my group. Luckily this wasn't during spawning season as well. Because of actions like this, there has been tighter and more restriction in this area and rightfully so if people cannot respect the area.

    I wouldn't drive on a road I can't see, but seeing others do it would make me give it a try. Reminds me of cliff diving back in high school. My good friend wouldn't jump off a 60 footer but said he'd be behind me if I jumped. He nearly landed on my head, jumped before I had hit the water.

    Thanks for sharing. You were in my backyard, sort of...That area is beautiful. I heard/ read about all the people stuck that weekend. I was out there at the start of the heat wave and saw the water rising. Almost lost my GoPro I set up on a log for a night time-lapse. FYI, the water usually rises overnight due to the melt from the previous day. Those guys that went to the Island were reckless and lucky they did not get washed away. Use to be able to go out there and explore all day and barely see anyone. The Squamish Valley is now a Gong show!. Been out there a few times this year (mid week only) and when you start to see Tesla's on the FSR you know it has gone to shit. Sorry to be negative, just over all the Yahoos heading into the backcountry of "Squampton". PS, I do not include you and your crew in that category!

      Thanks. With the ever increasing population and growing communities you have to go further and further out to be alone. I can remember as a kid camping in fishing just outside Squamish and thinking it was way out in the woods.
