  • Police confirmed on Wednesday that rescue workers recovered the bodies of two victims of the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore. At a press conference Wednesday afternoon, police said divers found the victims trapped in a submerged pickup truck amid the sunken debris of the bridge.
    Police notified members of the victims’ families on Tuesday. The governor's office identified the victims as Alejandro Hernandez Fuentes, 35, of Baltimore; and Dorlian Ronial Castillo Cabrera, 26, of Dundalk. Police confirmed both victims were members of the construction company whose crew had been working on the bridge at the time of the collapse.

    Cargo? American lives were lost. Who cares about cost of cargo. Lose a family vs pay a slightly higher cost of unecessary luxuries. It’s disgusting you guys even mention a “cargo route and supply chain” when American lives were lost

    Did the person piloting this ship get a drug test ? I use to drive a semi , Any accident, especially with someone dying, has to undergo a drug test . Why not mention who was piloting this ship ? Why was this freighter heading directly towards the columns?

    • @lhr8833
      @lhr8833 Месяц назад +3

      Have you read anything about it? Because was already declared an accident. There are videos showing it lost power, maybe that is the reason why was impossible to control it. They called mayday, so obviously the person was alert, just wasn’t able to control it. The black box was also already recovered. Maybe is better to not make assumptions when you haven’t read about it.

      This had nothing to do with that. A ship hit the bridge. But since u brought the topic up: Perhaps if repubs would stop voting against the infrastructure bills, the money for projects would be released to the states to fix the problems. Let me tell ya, I've crossed that bridge quite a few times for work. I'm not even close to being acrophobic. I should hope not since i have 75 jumps from the Army.
    But i had very little confidence in the structural integrity of that bridge by the looks and driving over it.
    For.good reasons now obviously, because one of the many regulations for a bridge to pass safety inspections. That it must withstand the impact of a ship colliding against its abutment at 15k knots at least. And i can tell you that ship wasn't doing any more than 5 knots. So if contractor who built that bridge is still in business. Then they need to be held accountable for lives lost.
    But the state and city holds some responsibilities too, because it was in dire need of maintenance.
