  • Dividend stocks are valued in the investment community as they provide an income to investors which can often rival term deposits. Dividends are also a sign of a company that is profitable, has low capital expenditure needs, and is generally friendly to shareholders, which isn't always the case.
In this video, I explore the 3 top dividend stocks available on the US Stock Exchanges, the NYSE/NASDAQ. They have a long-established history not only as a business but also a record of increasing their dividends every year. The FIRE movement has also gained traction in recent years - dividend stocks are one of the main mechanisms of retiring early with financial independence. If you're looking for dividend stocks in the US to elevate your portfolio returns, make sure to watch this video right the way through!

Thanks Brent for such a value video? Can you make one about the taxes and, btw, the revenue of those dividens pays double taxing for US and NZ??

Heya! As a kiwi trading in US shares you’ll be paying tax locally on your dividends at your marginal rate. When you log into IRD you’ll see a line item from Sharesies listing these out. Most platforms will require you to sign a W8-BEN form each year so you aren’t double taxed in both the US and NZ.

Informative and simple enough to understand. Thanks Brent.

Thanks for your videos Brent - both interesting and valuable. Just a quick question have you done anything on banking in NZ, which bank to use or not use etc? I'm really sick of the big 4 being really crap at customer service, making huge profits and then sending that money over to Australia. Just wondered about your views on Co-op, TSB, SBS banks

Thanks John - I'm glad the videos are helpful! I haven't looked that deeply at the banking options other than their headline savings/mortgage rates as their differentiating factors are hard to assess without being a customer. I'm with ASB and as you say, the service is pretty slack as they know we don't have many other choices. From a cards point of view, I am a strong advocate for Amex for their strong buyer protection and customer service. While in India this month I had some fraudulent transactions on my account and they quickly detected this and locked my card, even before I'd noticed. I've also had at least 5 calls with them since 2021 when I opened my account, and within a couple minutes (max) I have always connected with a service desk operator (ASB I've waited as long as 40min haha!).

Hi Brent, thanks for the informative video. Could you consider making top 3 US Dividend ETFs?
