    Bought one in wood stock for my own xmas present to myself. I'm a springer man tbh and this is my first pcp. The novelty is what appealed to me. You have to interact with gun for each shot then reset yourself- not just pull a side lever without even moving your head from scope. Not knocking if you do this but i like the interaction. From my purchase i couldn't fault the quality and finish. Yes it has it's drawbacks- low shot count - not very clear guages. But the joy of using it imo outways them. Should say i stuck a decent scope on it then accuracy at 40 - 50 mtrs was excellent. Would recommend

    This was an interesting review, and your enthusiasm for the look and bolt came through to interest me. Do you know what the break in the cylinder is? It is above the front manometer and appears to go all around the cylinder. Also, since air goes in the front of the cylinder, how can there be baffles in the cylinder? Thanks if you know.

      @airgunextra  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks very much. I'm afraid I don't know much about the insides of the rifle as it was loaned to me and had to go back. I'd imagine the air cylinder doesn't go to the end of the barrel and the baffles are located in front. But happy to be told otherwise. Thanks for watching.

      Hi. It really depends on your budget and the kind of shooting you're looking to do. Generally speaking, I'd go for a scope that has variable parallax and a magnification range of 4-16x. This might help: alphamilitaria.com/air-guns/air-rifles/scopes/best-air-rifle-scopes-under-150/ . Thanks for watching.

    Hi Richard, another great review.
    I'm interested in this rifle in a synthetic stock for vitamin control. Do they do a FAC version and who is the UK importer? I live in Northern Ireland where all firearms have to be registered on a FAC, regardless if it is a C02 pistol or a centre fire rifle. Nobody here uses sub 12fp because they have to register their rifle anyway with firearms.
    At the moment I'm using a FAC FX Crown 700mm barrel. This is an amazing air rifle, but very heavy to shoot off hand. I'm also using an Element Optics Helex 6-24x50. This is a great scope outside but is too powerful for pest control. It doesn't have an illuminated reticle and this makes it very difficult to shoot inside dark barns.
    My set up at the moment is for setting 50m a picking off my target, but useless for acquiring quick targets in dark conditions.
    Can you please be so kind as to recommend a budget FAC, regulated air rifle, with a longer length of pull ( l am a big guy) and low power FFP illuminated scope to go with it. I'm looking for a light and easy to point air rifle, preferably a bit shorter.
    You have never left me down yet with your advice.
    Kind regards, Oscar

    • @airgunextra
      @airgunextra  9 месяцев назад

      Hi Oscar. In all honesty, I don't think the Vought would be up to shooting at FAC levels. In my experience, when you're putting high FPS shots through a rifle you need something that has a bit better engineering behind it. The Vought is a great affordable rifle for 12 ft/lbs but I think that's its limit (though I'd love to be proved wrong!). In terms of affordable, good quality FAC rifles I think the stand out at the moment is the new FX DRS which is available with a synthetic stock at FAC levels for £790 (www.sportsmanguncentre.co.uk/fx-drs-exp-classic-synthetic-500mm-fac). It's worth shopping around of course and you might find it a little cheaper. To be transparent though - I have not shot the DRS yet (but hope to review a 12 ft/lbs version soon) but I hear good things about them. In terms of scope, I think the MTC Copperhead is hard to beat - light and compact with all the usual adjustments including an illuminated reticle (alphamilitaria.com/shop/mtc-copperhead-f2/). Again being transparent, we sell the Copperhead as well as the FX DRS. If I can think of any other affordable FAC rifles I'll let you know.

      Hi Richard thanks for all your help. I have been looking at reviews for the DRS. I was considering waiting until all the bugs, if there are any, to be ironed out.

    Had one for 24hrs…..went straight back! Awful rifle,bolt action is terrible,the magazines are not much better than 3D printed after market mag’s,the tiny pip in the location slot that supposedly holds the mag in place is almost ineffective from new! Also I found it uncomfortable to shoulder as there is hardly any drop on the stock….I did like the air cylinder wrapped around the barrel,also overall it looks a nice style rifle,the few shots I put through it were ok regarding accuracy.Your choice but definitely not for me.🥺

      No offence taken! I think that's the biggest risk with affordable rifles - consistency of manufacture. In other words - you get fewer pups with expensive rifles (that's not to say the odd one doesn't slip through). But, as a generalisation, I think there's more variance in terms of quality the lower down the fiscal range you go. You could get a good one but you could get a bad one. You're totally right that Gamo produce some great rifles for affordable rifles, so too does Reximex and Kral. I think the affordable/mid price range is the hardest sector of the market right now.@@adventurebeforedementia.2248

    • @mikesharp4033
      @mikesharp4033 10 месяцев назад

      Your assessment was balanced and apt. a) I wish that manufacturers would offer a no-scope option; i would not want to pay for a "throw-away" item. The cost, £20 - £30?, would be better spent on a selection of the owners choice. b) Gauge marking. c) Plastic trigger. d) Comb height. e) Filler-Port protection with a moderator fitted. Individually, maybe not an issue. Collectively, the rifle falls short suggesting a designed- down to a price item. A few pounds more would have produced a higher specification product, in a different league. Without those deficiencies I should consider purchase. I always look for your Reviews for considered, accurate, practical presentations. Thank you for your investment in assisting our sport. Best wishes, Mike@@airgunextra
