Have always wanted to get a camera, but by the time I could save enough money to actually buy one, I couldn't find it anywhere. Had to buy the 2nd hand one! It's still giving me great outcome. Pairing it up with Tamron 70-300 for my crazy birding trips! Excited to see how well I can utilise this great mirrorless camera! Thank you for all the amazing videos 😊
Hi Arron. I just picked up an A5100 second hand, mainly for recording and streaming video. I am finding your videos really helpful already. Many thanks.
I just started a channel and got a a5100 to start. Brand new to all of this but want to dive in deeper. Thanks for explaining the focus I might actually break away from auto hahaha
Such a helpful video. Thank you. I was struggling to understand all the focusing modes and could not find any decent videos to explain how they work. Afs was driving me crazy. A lot of the times it would not focus on what i want it to focus on.
Hi Arron, I was hoping you could help me for a second. I've just picked up the a5100 today, and I've been watching a few of your videos to get to grips with the settings. One thing I am struggling with though is the auto focus. It keeps pulsating when recording an a-roll video. What is the best focus mode to use when recording a-roll talking head footage? Also, what is the best focus area to use to keep my head in focus without it pulsing? I would hugely appreciate your help! Thanks, Kieron
Hi,Thanks for the videos, my girlfriend and I have just started vlogging our trip,we switch from a GoPro to the Sony a5100 and you have helped us alot! kB&b productions.
Question on AF-S do I have to continue to hold down the shutter button halfway down to ake my shot or can I remove my finger? What happens if I move the camera will my focus stay on what I focused on or does it lose that focal point?
Hi Aaron, For some reason my Sony keeps focusing in and out. Im just filming a talking head video, much like the video you have here, but every time I move, my camera goes in and out of focus. Do you know why that may be and the settings I can change so that goes away? Its terribly distracting for the viewer!
Hi Erika, Can I ask what focus mode you are using? Try and use either AF-A or AF-C if you can. Also Id set your Focus Area to 'Wide' and perhaps try changing your AF drive speed to 'Fast', this tells the camera to autofocus quicker. Hope these help!
Do all of these modus have the '4d' 'hybrid' option enabled for fast focusing? i downloaded the new firmware 3.1 which supports phase detection AF appearantly
How can I zoom in on a picture I have already taken while viewing it on the camera? I like to do this to make sure that my subject is in focus so that I don't get any surprises when I view it in post. Any suggestions? I don't see a zoom option for viewing pictures on the camera
What’s the best mode for taking pictures of myself? I have a camera stand and every time I take photos, the photos doesn’t seem to focused once I step away from the camera after I put it on a timer
Hi, I would have though either AF-A or AF-C should focus quickly enough while using the self timer. Perhaps set it to 10 second timer to allow the camera a little longer to autofocus. Hope this helps!
Let me know if there are any other features/settings on the Sony a5100 I should do a video on!
This is really helpful!
Can you shoot 30p/60p in PAL region and change shutter speed so there is no flicker?
how to focus in REMOTE CONTROL?? (I mean, focusing touching the screen of my phone)
Color profiles. Pictures always look always warm in every auto setting. Doesn't matter what WB setting I use. And when it has flash on, it turns blue.
These videos are brilliant. Bought the a5100 last week as my first non-compact camera and this is giving me a great starting point

Moving away from auto can be daunting at first, but worth it once you get your head around the different modes. Thanks for watching!
What about video? Please can you do "Focus mode" settings for video?

What’s best for vlogs? Afc?
I wear glasses for seeing far, another set for near. I cant figure out how to use my a5100 correctly. Do you adjust for your spectacles?

What AF settings do you use for talking head streaming style video?
Thanks bro, great video, I just bought mine, I want to used it for street photography, maybe AF-C is the Best option for me? 🤔

@@ArronPrescott Thank you Aaron, I am going to try that and hope it works. Your channel is such a wonderful resource!
@@ArronPrescott Also, I think Im using the automatic. which would be AF-A? I'll try the other tips you suggested
Does it have focus peaking feature for manual lenses?
It does! In fact I go through out to turn it on in this video - ruclips.net/video/gC8Czel-KUg/видео.html
This is a great resource, thanks!

If you're using the a5100 you can use the W-T rocker (its next to the shutter button) this will zoom in on your photos that you've already taken.
Do you know how to focus in REMOTE CONTROL?? (I mean, focusing touching the screen of my phone)
Hey. I have got a problem with the AF on the Sony A5100. Would you be up for looking at a video i made and try to help me fix the issue?

Great video. Thank you so much.
Keep making videos.
Is it true that autofocusing makes the battery overheats on the SONY A5100?
Unfortunately the a5100 has lots of problems with overheating, these are the best ways to tackle them - ruclips.net/video/T2g7simcEQo/видео.html
