Question, I have a dust separation on a 5 gallon bucket and a craftsman 5.25 hp shop vac . When I turn on the vacuum I get a high pitch sound out of the motor. Is it to much hp , it's an older vacuum. What would you recommend for my small shop.
It could be that you might need to replace the shopvac if it's an older one. Also, first check to make sure there's not anything stuck in the hose somewhere that is causing the motor to strain- I've had that happen before. One last thing, the filter on the shop vac could need replacing. Even though using the dust collector part, there is sometimes a bit of dust that will make it to the shop vac itself.
