Totally agree, it's on my to-do list. I had a go videoing along the Thames yesterday at the London Eye as there is a small Christmas market there, but my equipment was really playing up and it is not really useable. But with Kingston now totally Christmassy I might pop down there this week to shoot the Christmas market. And thanks for commenting and subscribing:)

Excellent, thanks for naming them all (I always forget to name Adams Walk!). They are all on the list of places I want to cover; in fact this past week I was due to walk from the station, along Fife Road, through to Eden Walk and from there to the University and, if my battery lasted long enough, on to Surbiton. But another YT deadline got in the way, so this Sunday I plan to film the big cycling event, testing out my DJI Osmo Pocket, and hopefully cover Eden Walk then:) I get a bit shy inside of big shops - ie John Lewis - and some of them don't permit filming, so I have to decide whether to ask permission before I go. Might wait for the Christmas lights for that one.
@@ChattyWalkswithAngela By the way Old London Road could do with a big revamp as it is like a forgotten corner of Kingston town centre. Yet is has so much potential. It needs to be opened up more to draw shoppers into it.
@@angusmeigh5141 I agree. Even with the improvements to the sculpture plus the entrance thing saying it is Old London Road, it feels like it needs a little more. Perhaps cobbles and a market-like feel or something.

@@ChattyWalkswithAngela it was lovely living there, but they used to setup the market every morning about 4.30 and drag all the metal stuff about. We had to sleep in earplugs in the end but it was a great 2 years.

@@ChattyWalkswithAngela Woolworths' was there before Class Ohlson as I remember. Several stores have closed down in Kingston over the past few years including BHS, whose store in now occupied by the British Heart Foundation charity shop. And the clothing shop Officers Club has also gone from the Bentall Centre. Old London Road could do with improving to connect it better to the town centre. As it has a couple of good shops which are rarely visited.

When Woolworths' closed, including my local one in Surbiton, it was such a loss, especially when there was a kids birthday party to buy something for! It's an odd one with Old London Road, as the telephone boxes almost cut it off despite them being a landmark. I plan to re-do the Kingston walk when I reach 1000 subscribers (might be a while!) as a way to celebrate what for me would be a huge milestone. Hopefully the weather will oblige... @@angusmeigh5141 Actually you have got me thinking about the building that used to be on that side, maybe where Next is now, Waterstones were in there, with the massive staircase in the middle. It was kind of an indoor market, not the most glamorous of places and with the refurbishment in that area the bigger stores took over. But I'm talking probably 30 years ago.
@@ChattyWalkswithAngela That reminds me there was also a Books Etc store a few years ago near to Class Ohlson, which also sold records, CDs and DVDs in the basement. Then several years ago all of the Books Etc store closed down.
Hello. It’s the sort of thing a future me is hoping to do when time is less of an issue. Are you a member of any local walking groups? I tried a Nordic walking lesson in Bushey Park once but that’s about it!
It must have been unrecognisable compared with today! I moved here in the 90s and barely remember how it used to look - especially with all the development along the river, the Bentalls Centre etc. A great place to live though. Thank you so much for watching and commenting:)
I know exactly what you mean. Funnily enough I met up with some old school friends in Salisbury and wished I could have filmed there too, it's such a lovely city with a market square that is very similar to Kingston, plus of course the cathedral, with its spire!

@@shand6517 I come from just outside of Bath so totally know Salisbury exists:) There were actually a lot of tourists there when I visited, and similar to what you are saying, I was a bit surprised it is that well-known. Perhaps it's a stop-off point for visitors to Stonehenge?

Kingston Upon Thames has 5 Shopping Centres John Lewis, The Bentall Centre, Eden Walk, Adams Walk and Old London Road.
