Chip, Tracy, Troy, Dale, and John and Gloria were the people I grew up watching. Channel 8 was my main TV station then and it still is.

That old ad from News 8 in 1970 really took us back. Great to see old faces like Dale Milford, Blaine Smith (staff announcer during prime time and also did weekend weather), and Bob Gooding. Also a treat to see a 1973 News 8 ad with Jack Van Roy. Names many of you have forgotten.

Thank you for this! Very interesting history! I lived in the DFW area from 1963 to 1986 and remember so many of these great people.

Check out the clip very closely at 43:20, and it is still hard to believe that this went under the radar screen for a long time. Doing weekend sports on Channel 8 was none other than Frank Clarke, the first black sportscaster in Dallas. So much had been made of other blacks breaking into the news business at Metroplex stations in the 1970s, but let's not forget Frank Clarke, who was 8's other sportscaster in the late '60s and early '70s. I may not remember him from my childhood, as I think by '71 he was probably already gone. Dale Hansen ought to be interested in this clip.

The promo which featured “News 8 On The Move-It was only half enough” came from the rock opera Tommy by The Who.

@@traviswilliams2081 the jingle on the news open with Don Harris is a very short interlude from the soundtrack album from Goldfinger. I do not know where the manager theme music was taken from.

@@matthewcampbell7985 I wanna make sure this is right, though. Because the 50th Anniversary special aired in 1999, and the station launched in 1949.
