Welcome to 2024 Gun Internet You chose a good time to start learning because there is a LOT of good content, dating back at least a decade. Just remember to filter out "fuddlore."
I put my PA 3x on a $600 CETME I got back in 2018 and it was a match made in heaven. It's a great optic for the price, and I'm not buying something to go on some SHTF larp. It's for going to the range and for hunting. But if you want to see the real SHTF, Ukrainians are putting much cheaper garbage from Wish and Ali Express on their infantry rifles right now. Many of them wish they had a Primary Arms on their weapon instead of what they're getting their hands on.
They are really good optics and durable. I didn’t realize how tough a prism is compared to the others even the cheaper monstrum brand can take a beating.
Good morning Sir!’ First, great seeing stuff from you again! I hope all is well with you and your family! So, I have a rifle set up with a red + magnifier and another with a 3x prism. I like them both, and both have their advantages and disadvantages. I think it really comes down to what the shooter prefers. The prism style has the potential to make your firearm a bit lighter weight, but more so just cleaner and less stuff on it. Great video, looking forward to more from you! Take care!
Been watching for 10 minutes already one of my favorite channel If you can spare enough to get the 2x GLX and run that I’d love to see it! Keep it up man you don’t need to go goochi, just run the same stuff and do different things with it
While those old surefire lights were hella awesome in the late 90's I think the biggest issue with them these days is that they just chew batteries. I know surefire offered LED upgrades on a lot of their 6p models, that I think crossed over to the nitrolon G2 line. I don't remember what bulb that particular light used, but the lifespan of the incandescent lights was fairly short too. That said, awesome looking retro rifle setup. I've got one of the GLx 3x prisms on one of my rifles, it's red-dot small and gives me just enough magnification to make out targets at longer ranges.
Very true! While i haven’t had issues of this one going through batteries yet, I can see where they do. It holds 3 cr123 which is a lot by today’s standards for only getting like 150 lumens.
I absolutely love this optic and have it mounted on my A1 carry handle HBAR Bushmaster! I got it on sale for 106 shipped and that’s hard to beat! My only complaint is the reticle is a little small compared to my other Acss optics but still works great!
@@XXLDUDE I hope they didn’t discontinue the GLX 2x because that’s the one I really wanted and still plan on getting for another rifle because it’s got that mini acog look to it!
The 2x is still there as is the 3x and 5x. Just seems to be the 2.5 for now. I wish they’d make a 4x. The 5x just seems excessive and large. At that point a good 1-6x lpvo could be had.
@@XXLDUDE I had the 5x aurora reticle and I honestly didn’t like it! It was too big and heavy and you couldn’t mount it further back like the 2.5x for better eye relief! The glass was clear the reticle was great but after trying it on carry handles and flat top rifles I ended up selling it! My favorite optic so far is my 1-8x Acss!
Got an H&R A1 carbine upper AR with gooseneck Meprolight. Been looking for a low power scope as an option to mount as a spare, but yeah ACOGs are $$$ (already have one on another AR). This looks like a decent, low budget option that still fits with the retro feel of my H&R
It really is good for those that want a little more than a basic red dot on it. Not too crazy over powered so it can still be used at close range pretty fast.
Attaching optics to a detachable carry handle is just adding more points of failure and weight for no good reason. That optic is huge for a 2.5x. I like Primary Arms, I have one of their PLX-C 1-8 LPVOs and it is an excellent LPVO. BUT--if you really want a prism, I'd really suggest looking around online for individuals selling used ACOGs. I got a real Trijicon Ta31 RCO for $600 and probably could've gotten it for even less had I started lower when I was haggling. Used ACOGs are actually pretty easy to find online. Be smart, don't get scammed. But, that said, you can get a bulletproof optic with an unbeatable track record for just a little bit more money if you search. I try to tell people--don't let $300 burn a hole in your pocket. You get paid every week or every other week. Keep adding a little bit to that wad every week and you'll be able to grab a real deal ACOG in no time.
I do hope to pick up an ACOG at some point. I’m not saying this is a replacement by any means but for 99% of US gun owners it will get the job done. The U.S. military ran optics on a detachable carry handle for decades a la the M4 and later the M16A4 there’s nothing to worry about so long as you have the handle torqued and if wanted, blue located. I find the “stacking tolerances” saying a gimmick because it usually comes from people that have an eotech or aimpoint mounted to an aluminum unity mount then mounted to their rifle, that’s stacking tolerances. I’m actually using the Trijicon mounting bolt on this unit. I picked this prism up for $100 on sale just to see if I would like a prism like and Acog and yes I now know I would.
There's no such thing as a "do all" optic, however ACOGs and their derivative cousins darn near do it all. Having 4X and 1.5X ACOGs, the latter ACOG is my preferred optic...it currently rides atop a Colt 6520.
@@XXLDUDE If you're gonna do an RMR, save your pennies for an ELCAN...wider FOV and better eye relief too. I had to eat a lot of mac n cheese to get a couple of RMR/ELCAN setups. New subscriber...I dig the format.
Used these downrange they're good to go. I am a shamess TRIJIGANG shill and these are 80% as good and i wish trijigang made a 2.5x. love the reticle in this too
@@XXLDUDE yeah they're really great for the price and ofc trijicon has better glass but for people who aren't going to war this is totally suitable and it is still suitable to go to war with.
Hey bro, a few pointers because I'm really tired of all of the other gun tubers that have 20 second montages of them shooting at steal from 5 yd away with hip music reviewing Gucci drip and we need more people doing what you're doing. You repeated some things like six times I can't remember exactly what it is cuz I drowned it out and I'm not going to go back and rewatch right now but make sure you are concise with what you're saying. Ditch the music it's very cringe and annoying. A little music is okay but not to the extent that you're doing it. This kind of setup, I don't have a word for it but it's like a hidden gem. This is a really good setup because it's budget-friendly but bomb proof and makes sense.
First off, thank you! I’ve really decided to approach my video production differently with this one. It takes A lot of time to edit vids over 10 mins. I meant to go back and clean up a lot of the repeats and just didn’t. Mastering the music was a struggle and a test on this trying to fit it without overpowering the voice maybe something more ambient and barely noticeable as the algo seems to favor vids with more music. Thank you for your feedback and let’s make Carry handles rock again! I love the old school look.
Very cool. Wish I knew more about guns. Never too late to start learning I guess.

It really does boil down to preference. I have a similar combo on another 16in rifle I’m going to be going over pretty soon!
Good video and excellent run through!

It’s in my list. I have several more optics I currently have to go over, but I would like to try out the 2x.

Awesome! Thank you!
Dude this was some excellent info! I didn't know i needed this optic!!
Thank you! It’s a good optic, I’ve got a few more optic vids coming down the pike. Should be able to touch on everyone’s flavor.
Chestnut Mtn range?
Don’t forget your clothes pins!
Love the content just a little feedback, lower the background music a bit you get washed out by it
Will do. Gonna really adjust the music on the next vid.

As long as it has the top mounting hole it should work out great. You can even use the Trijicon bolt and Allen key kit for this optic.
I have same set up without carry handle. I really like that rifle with the 2.5 x on it
It really is good for those that want a little more than a basic red dot on it. Not too crazy over powered so it can still be used at close range pretty fast.
Solid knowledge transfer brother
Thank you very much, Sir!
Good video! I do like these optics alot! I can't really tell much of a difference between the 2.5x and the 3x though.
For me the 2.5x to maybe 200 yards the 3x just seems better past.

These prism optics sure do get close to being an all-rounder. The 4x with an RMR is my dream set up. Maybe I’ll snag one of these days.

That’s is an old school surefire M500. It’s actually the whole handguard. Very nostalgic looking.

Carry handle is one slot back too far. Try again.
🤣try again? It works, is accurate, and gets the optic that much closer to my eye. I set the rifle up to my taste and use.
