  • I can’t go through Georgia and not stop in at my beloved Okefenokee. We grabbed some lunch from their cafe at Okefenokee Adventures, then headed on out to the Swamp Island Drive. After the drive, we headed back into Folkston only to be stopped by the trains.

Folkston is one of my favorites. I’ll make a day trip to Georgia just to visit the Okefenokee and see the alligators. One of the tour guides years ago told us that something just gets into your blood when you visit, and you have to keep returning. That was certainly true for us.

We have seen some pretty cool birds there over the years. We’ve seen owls, storks, herons, egrets, and hawks. The Okefenokee is one of my favorite places to visit.

I can’t believe no gators in the canal. You have to look hard around the Lily’s. Love it

I only saw 2 the other day. One swam across the pond to me, but the camera wasn’t recording at that time. I saw it from a distance and it just came on over. The little baby was in the water too. I didn’t see either one of them when we stopped on the way out.

Pass was 10 and yes now 80. Some parks are $30.00 or more so we'll worth it. I'll be there this sat, or Sunday. As a wildlife photographer, any special areas I should look at.

I have to highly suggest the 90 minute boat tour. The guides point out some of the birds and alligators that you may would not see on your own, but they know where they are hanging out at. The boardwalk is awesome. Sometimes people see a bobcat on it, I personally haven’t, alligators are sometimes visible when they are sunning. Check out the pond that I showed with the trees at it. We usually see alligators there each time we visit. Also the canal ditch usually has alligators in it as well if it isn’t too hot when you are passing by. Have fun!
