SUMERLANDS have returned from the astral plane with their hotly anticipated new album, Dreamkiller. The Ultimate Sin inspired haze of the first album has been turbocharged with bigger hooks, Jan Hammer worthy synths, and forays into Badlands gone doom! But although doom crackles at the edges of Dreamkiller, this is metal forged with the melodrama of the Scorpions, the emotional heft of Foreigner, and Dokken with an extra dose of depression. In the driver’s seat is critically acclaimed producer, engineer and guitarist Arthur Rizk, who polished these 8 metallic gems at Philadelphia’s Redwood Studios. Coming off of recent production credits with Kreator, Soulfly, and Show Me The Body, Rizk needs no introduction. His past work behind the boards with Power Trip, Sacred Reich, Ghostemane and many others have blown minds for over a decade, while SUMERLANDS fulfills his dream of melancholic chug. The band’s alchemy is on full display as bassist Brad Raub (Eternal Champion, Leather) smirks behind his P-Bass while drummer Justion DeTore (Innumerable Forms, Dream Unending) stares you dead in the face, swinging. New vocalist Brendan Radigan (Magic Circle, Stone Dagger) sings of lost souls in a world gone mad in his confident Graham Bonnet meets Ray Gillen wail. Rizk and guitarist John Powers keep their “Strats only” policy intact while wheeling in the full Marshall stacks to douse the record in glorious solos (witness the album closing duel of “Death to Mercy”). Galloping lead single “Dreamkiller” is an uptempo tour de force with an instrumental break to make Brian May blush and that festival worthy chorus. Make no mistake, Dreamkiller is a triumph of traditional heavy metal fuel!
What voice! I thought I would miss Phil's voice but Brendan positively surprised me. "Heavens Above" had already given me a very good impression. Brendan is killer!
I read a while back in a Decibel magazine interview with Arthur that they were bringing Brendan in on vocals. I knew immediately they weren't going to miss a beat. I thought it would be a perfect fit. His vocals in Magic Circle are amazing as well.
I just bought ''Dreamkiller'' today from no remorse records, and i'm sorry for the delay. I'm waiting for you great Sumerlands to give a gig in my country Greece , one of the greatest heroes lands!
Then ! I think it's perfection in this area, what a wonderful surprise and what a trip back in time! I like this idea of giving a second life to fans of the genre and to this music. And when it's done with so much passion and quality, we say a huge yes! We broadcast the song on our independent radio station
The more I think about it the more this feels like song of the year cause I can’t remember anything I’ve listened to as much. Some songs come close but this is as pure metal as it gets and gives me the same good feeling I get from Judas priests best mid-late 80s songs
Power metal on relapse records, oh yes indeed summerlands hit the early power metal vain right on with this , it could have been on fronties records or naparm records , like the best British heavy metal and Scandinavian melodic metal bands!
I love the debut & have been waiting for the follow up. However, I also like the band Magic Circle & have both of their CD's. Have they broken up - or just lost their vocalist? Either way, can't wait to lay hands on the new Summerlands & I hope it's as good as the debut.
Magic Circle broke up. Justin DeTore (bassist in Magic Circle and drummer in Sumerlands) confirmed it in an interview last year. Presumably Justin and Brendan are too busy with other projects.
Yeah, it's a real bummer that Magic Circle broke up, they were among the best trad-doom/heavy metal bands around, but unfortunately it seems that Justin, Brendan, and Chris Corry are far too involved and busy with other bands, and they had to make sacrifices. There's a slight hope that they may continue with Stone Dagger though. At their set in Hells Heroes this year, Sumerlands (with Brendan on vocals) performed one of Stone Dagger songs, and it sounded great.
@@notanm6616 The first thing I did, when Relapse announced this album, was check to see if either black clad rider or siege of Jerusalem were among the listed tracks. Really excited to hear that the material is still being used and hasn’t been lost to obscurity, this collection of artists are really something special.
@@richardplasencia5532 they wouldn’t release those stone dagger songs under the Sumerlands name. they might cover the songs live, but those are stone dagger songs and always will be.
@@notanm6616 DFJ (Justin) did an interview maybe last year on the Forum of Passion podcast and I forget if he outright said this or more so alluded to it, but he pretty much said that once he’s done with a band it’s pretty much laid to rest for good. He has been in a LOT of bands, and I’m pretty sure none of them have ever reunited.

Rest in power, Brad. 🕊️

@@Orangeokie7 don't forget stone dagger too!
@@Orangeokie7 Brendan is a fantastic singer. Magic Circle will be missed dearly.
Any band Brendan is in is fantastic. Rival Mob, Sumerlands, Stone Dagger, Battle Ruins...
This is a perfect heavy metal tune.
This is a perfect tune.
This record actually came out in 1988. Sorry I don’t make the rules.
I was 12 then.
I saw that tour with atrophy and powermad and deliverance
Makes sense that first half of that solo is total Thundersteel.
RIP Brad Raub 🕊️
Brendan is a fucking treasure in hardcore and metal.
Brendan sounds AWESOME on vocals. LOVED this record.
I'm getting Fifth Angel, Racer X, Riot and even Yngwie and Helloween vibes from the song! KILLER STUFF! \m/
All great influences imo
@@shoheiimamura4067 Indeed! \m/
I want to party with these guys! Key bumps on me boys!
This song made my summer vacation.
What an awesome tune.
Can't wait for the whole album.
Thanks a lot.
There's a nice layer of Queensryche and Racer X here!!! Love it 🤘🏼
Solo of the year. Holy shit. So badass. This album is sick.
So sick. Getting old school Malmsteen vibes! Epic! 🗡🛡🐎⚔️
Total Rising Force goodness. Budokan better get ready. 😂
Thundersteel af solo section. Goddamn.
I cant believe how underrated this band is.. Briliant work both video and the music :) "Im so afraid" was amazing cover as well.
Record of the year Metal Hammer (Greek edition)
Very good. Great riffs, vocals, very solid drumming, etc... Glad the algorithm recommended it to me. Will have to check out more of this band.
🤘

The twin guitar harmonies remind me of Priest’s “Exciter.” Killer tune, can’t wait for the full album.
Heavy metal that’s actually heavy
no frills, no adjectives. Just heavy metal.
They have returned!
Perfect, I'm so happy to get a new Sumerlands Album, the first One was one of the best Epic Metal Albums during the past 10 Years!
Sumerlands is back baby and wicked as ever!!!!!!
This is how you do amazing heavy metal! Congrats & cheers! 🤘🏻🔥⚔️
Glad to hear these guys making music again!
outro like blackened , a vibe like dt first album , awesome!

Que banda tan chingona .tengo sus 2 discos ❤
The best band out there right now!!! Magical!
Didn't even know they had a new album coming up. Loved the new singer.
Sumerlands, Eternal Champion, and Spirit Adrift run heavy metal.
never heard Spirit Adrift, the other 2 rules so i need to check them. any album recomendation?
Visigoth!
Spirit Adrift's first album in my opinion. Very Doom Metalish.
Great metal song, great metal performances
nice track!!! old Helloween !!!Regards from Poland🍺!!!
Oh my God. This is the best 80s metal song ever. Amongst insane competition that cock blocked so many bands of the day. YOU guys deserved much more.
LOL... this is a brand new tune that will be released next week. It is not from the 80s. Sumerlands is not a "band of the day".
You know the shit is good when someone actually thinks it's from the 80's
Total malmsteen energey. The whole album slaps. Oscillating between queensryche worshipping and Foreigner celebration. Loving it.
THE BEST BAND IN THE WORLD
Your world must be TINY.
Effortlessly uncool AF! Bang on the money, thoroughly enjoyed this, video production values especially. More please

Amazing riffs.
Que coisa mais linda!!!!
O mais grande do mundo como Maradona hahah
The 1st album was killer, so I'm glad to see a follow-up.
Those vocals are hitting great heights we haven't seen in years! Metal over Everything, fuck the world.
I've been a fan since the 1st album. This song is the best. I will buy it physically.
Hell yeah, stoked for this album. It's going to be RAD
Awesome band!

Totally getting the speed/power edge, great song

These dudes rule .
Is that Brendan from The Rival Mob? Haha holy shit this band is getting better and better in every possible way
This song is simply AMAZING! 🤘🏻⚔
Yo, this is fantastic! Keep it up, dudes
The album cover is the "after", where Judas Priest's 2nd Point of Entry cover is the before 😂

Это чисто именно по тяге!
100%
Found by accident as an 80s 90s metal musician seems more than an accident. At 430 am.
🤘🏿⚔️🔥🤘🏿
Only thing that might be missing on this song is double bass.
🔥🔥🔥
🙌
So cool 🤘🍜
Great vocals! I guess if Stratovarius would have bigger balls, they would have sounded like Sumerlands
I love it!
just like my drunk dad. Epic
🤘😜🤘
Every time this spins in my car, I find my gas pedal is touching the floor...
A dream come true. So fucking killer
You guys should’ve played this jam at hells heroes!
Came here to figure out the first riff by ear, ended up listening to the whole song first cause I couldn't hit pause.
🤘🏻
Brendan should sing in ever metal band
