1904 Russo-Japanese War. Manchuria. The Russian military hospital, retreating, occupies a semi-abandoned Chinese village. The head of the hospital, Sergei Karenin, learns that the wounded officer he is operating on, earl Vronsky, is the one who killed his mother, Anna Karenina, and indirectly caused the death of his father. Having no illusions and not expecting an answer, Karenin nevertheless goes to Vronsky and asks the question that has tormented him all his life: what made his mother cross the line? earl Vronsky, in turn, learns that the doctor is the same Seryozha Karenin. Stunningly beautiful, very little produced in the 'West' now compares to this level of gorgeous scene creation and intensity of emotion. Wow.
Perfect cutting, and attention to detail, large and small, the sound of starched dresses going past, and Anna and Vronsjy's attraction , and ambivalence.

Samoilova and Lanovoi in old soviet version of Anna Karenina - that is what is stunning, and gorgeous, and soulful, and heartbreaking. This remake is a shadow of a true masterpiece!!!
Kolossal schön inszeniert, mit allem was dazu gehört. Solche Filme mit Tiefgang kann Hollywood nicht hervorbringen, da die meisten westlichen Schauspieler die Emotionen der Russischen Romane nicht erfassen.😊

I think this scene is perfect for getting me interested in the difference between a mazurka and a waltz and engraving it in my memory.
It also makes me feel the importance of the conductor's role in creating the atmosphere by deciding the timing of music selection.
Боярская очень грубая для аристократии Карениной. Не хватает шарма,утонченности. Да и Матвеев отнюдь не Вронский.
Я думала, Каренина была красивая. Я, наверное, ошибалась.

Вронский как раз соответствует. У Толстого это довольно старостой и плоский персонаж. А вот Боярская в роли Карениной это просто Плевок !((

Не могу смотреть после великой Самойловой этот дешевый примитивизм,даже Матвеев не мог сгладить бездарность Боярской

Шикарный фильм, смотрела год назад, вспомнила о нём пару дней назад и оказалось, что не могу вспомнить лицо Вронского. Думаю, актёра подобрали неудачно. А Каренина незабываема, да.
Боярская слишком худа, углова- грубовата, голос не тот- хриплый, низкий и грубый, нет в ней женского обояния и нежности, этакий солдат в юбке с ямочками, ужасна!! Снято красиво, красочно, костюмы, танец конечно красивы!❤

Химия между героями имеет природу в том, что они в жизни женаты)) мне кажется, это в какой-то степени даже мешает, они привычны друг другу, хоть и влюблены конечно. Но та искра, которая должна вспыхнуть между Карениной и Вронским, на вальсе должна уже полыхать до небес, именно поэтому он рванул за ней потом, именно поэтому они привлекли к себе такое всеобщее внимание. Это мог бы быть простой танец, каким он и выглядит в исполнении этих актеров, а мог бы быть момент страсти, испепеляющий, привлекающий внимание. Вот этого я здесь не увидела. А постановка имеет место быть, все старались)
Боярская на папочку своего похожа , но он, в отличии от нее отлично справлялся с ролями героев - любовников в чем безусловно была заслуга его великолепных партнерш-Маргариты Тереховой (Миледи, Диана)и Ирины Алферовой, а так манеры грубые те же у дочки, что и у папеньки ( гены), хоть немного женственности и нежности от матери Ларисы взяла, быЛариса очень хороша была в фильме « срочно нужны седые волосы», где играла с Баталовым дуэтом, прекрасная роль у нее там

I love the latest version with Kiera Knightley as Anna and the very strange waltz created for it. The director utilized the theatre as a backdrop for the movie. In other words you see scenes change as if you were seeing a play rather than a movie ...genius!,
