For those who doesn't know this:
You can use the melee attack button to do a parry when 1v1ing with swords, the attack is faster and after you parry, you can press the Trigger button to do a second attack. So if you get attacked with the trigger attack you parry with melee and then the trigger attack. It almost always work because it can become a mental game to guess with which attack will your enemy start.

Oh man, I loved this game type back in Reach. Really wish they would've made swordplay this fun in halos 4 and 5.
This gamemode is the best example of how a genuine medieval mode for halo could exist. Imagine more melee weapons with different niches, like gauntlets that have increased knockback or a dagger that gives extra mobility options
Can’t wait to play this again with the Xbox Scarlett.
I always used to get double -triple teamed in this game mode. Or if someone spawned opposite me and they tbag to be allies and then they stab you in the back hahah

When i played this (which is alot) i was a god at this, same with castle wars and assassination
If u run forward and jump back and time ur swing u get a huge advantage. And there are many other crazy things u can do as an elite to win sword fights

You all seem to ignore that the sword swings faster if you use the melee key with it, meaning after a sword lock from a double primary attack with the sword you can take the upper hand by maleeing right after.
You don't have a lock-on when using the melee key with the sword tho.
Dear Castiel We didn’t forget, it’s just that it’s harder on Reach. It’s much easier in H3 as when you clash there isn’t much knockback.

I watched the halo five sword tournament
Seems like you don't know the REAL Tactic to Always win in a Sword Fight.
Here's a Tip for you Spiteful:
Press the Melee Button instead of the normal Attack Button When with a Sword.
Sure you won't lunge Towards the enemy but it WILL still parry.
And Melee Animation is Shorter then Lunge Animation.
So You Melee Parry into Normal Lunge Attack and it'll kill 9/10.
If it doesn't kill, Melee Parry again.
UnderEstimator17 I reply quite a bit, In Reach the Slash and the Melee still have the same effect, you say that the Melee is faster, that is true. Only in Halo 3 can the parry actually be executed as quickly because the knockback isn’t as strong. In reach the knockback is increased therefore pushing you back more which then gives the opposer the same amount of time to execute that same exact attack which therefore doesn’t make much of a difference.
@@turnippint6086 The Animation for Lunge Is a Good Second for it to fully complete, and you're not allowed to do another action until that animation is over.
Melee Animation is half a second.
Parry Has no Real Animation too it, but it does have knockback. No Matter if the player tried to Lunge or just Melee.
Does the Knockback Affect What I stated in my First Post... Simply Put, No it doesn't. Mainly due to the fact that the Lunge... Is a Lunge and Launches the player towards the enemy, Which would in turn negate the knockback.
And being able to have a good half a second lead on your opponent in a sword fight can EASILY Make a difference. Even though the lunge takes a bit of time you'll still be gaining ground on your opponent if you do a melee parry, which can put you back in the running or even be the key to winning.
^BTW This has all been tested.
UnderEstimator17 As one of the players who were in this I can assure you I tried this, even against Spiteful. I meleed at first and I got knockback which effected me and gave enough time for the enemy to attack. I stopped doing it but what you are saying works in H3.
