Man vintage retro dinosaur films just give me this sense of dread and eeriness, idk if it’s because the film itself is old, or that creatures which supposedly looked like that are now gone forever.
well something you may not be aware of.. but technically, we are still in the end period of the ....well.. now/previous ice age....Pleistocene.. look it up.. may learn something ;)
Dino Diego brought me here and I gotta say this is an interesting look into mankind’s history with dinosaurs and how it has progressed in nearly 100 years.
Very true, they don’t seem mean, agressive and evil… unlike now We needed to wait walking with dinosaurs to see dinosaurs as normal animals living their life
there is a problem with the movie chronologie. Some scenes are not in the wrong order and some cut text are linked to the wrong animal. Also, it might miss some parts too.
To be fair this was quite reasonable for a documentary of that time to claim. Radiometric dating was only introduced around the time the documentary was made and earlier estimates based on thermodynamic estimations and similar usuallly gave pretty consistent values in the range of around 50 million years.
I know this was made almost a hundred years ago (Jesus) but when I saw the dinosaurs and the people with the dinosaurs, I burst out laughing every time.
I’m quite surprised how accurate are a few of the informations, Ofc dimetrodon isn’t a dinosaur, brontosaur doesn’t exist, the « design » isn’t correct (i laughed when I saw the stego) But I didn’t know they knew so much about earth creation, I’m quite impressed about how they knew so much, I truly thought they were more ignorant at this era (no offense) it’s very fascinating… this short movie is a real time capsule, I can see those small kids in the school yard talking about the earth created 50 million years ago and drawing a kind of Godzilla as a Iguanodon lol And what ppl of early 1920 thought about it ? They were more religious than us, how did they react ? Did they believe what they saw ? We’re they angry or impressed ? So weird feeling about this documentary
@@LarsTonguesInAspix 8 years is like few days for paleonotology and taxonomy, it takes a veeeeeeeeeeery long time reach consensus, and then for news to be distributed among scientists, and even longer for university textbooks to be corrected, not even saying about popular science stuff. This may no longer be scientifically accurate, but it’s still a testament to human progress and creativity
And how science marches on with every new piece of information we gather
The soundtrack in this film is both terrifying and majestic.
It's beautiful!
If y'all didn't know already this OST was added on during the 2015 preservation effort, the original was a silent film.
"an Iguanodon would hardly do as a household pet"
I don't know why it's funny to me, but it is
Probably one of the earliest documentaries that featured animated dinosaurs in the silent era.

" humans and dinosaurs never coexisted" Moments later: Man riding a brontosaurus
just humoristic illustration...
Ok can you explain why early tribes drawing pictures of dinosaurs in the caves they lived in
How nice that this beautiful piece of art from one hundred years ago was preserved.
This documentary needs more attention! This was the first ever Dinosaur documentary, the OG.
I love how derpy some of them are
3:59 I feel that this moment should be a meme. I don't know what for yet, but I feel it could be useful one day.
Man, if only scientists back then could see how hot and far from an ice age we really are now
They'd probably wonder how the industrial revolution didn't make it happen sooner 😂
more like its still on track, with the current trend its normal for it to get hot before the ice age
well something you may not be aware of.. but technically, we are still in the end period of the ....well.. now/previous ice age....Pleistocene.. look it up.. may learn something ;)
we are still two degree cooler than it was during the climate optimum when humans developed civilization post ice age

Iguanadon seems very annoyed the camera crew won't leave him alone.
DOES look kinda pissed-off.
My mother-in-law remembers riding small brontosauruses when she was a child. She claims they had an odd odor, much like her feet.
4:47 that picture is your mother in law
Ahh, An old silent film about prehistoric animals that live 50,000,000 years ago. My favorite!(Well, kinda)
"And for no apparent reason, here's a polar bear on the title card."
Primeiro documentário de dinossauros, e eles são tratados como animais não como monstros
Raro entre filmes antigos
Very true, they don’t seem mean, agressive and evil… unlike now

Animais bem fofos até. Iguanodon satisfeito depois de ter comido uma arvore é a melhor coisa que vi hoje
@@Sososaure they might be part of the animal kingdom but they are very different as well..
I have transformed… 999 likes into a thousand!
This is amazing film history
I didn’t know it was possible to make dinosaurs seem… biblical, for lack of a better word.
4:01 he’s judging you

So they aren't in the wrong order then? Haha
3:08 "And Volstead was unknown". Translation: At least I could get a beer when the dinosaurs were stomping around.
I think they got these time periods and other factoids mixed up.
It was 1925
There's some stuff they thought was back then, everything evolves, even thoughts
3:07 Why does that dino look like it was able to shoot lightning from its eyeballs?
what is a "masosaurus"
ERROR DE ESCRITURA, EN REALIDAD QUISIERON DECIR MAOSAURUS QUE ACTUALMENTE ES UN SINONIMO DE EDAPHOSAURUS

All of these dinosaurs got some really serious faces! 🤨🤨🤨

@Chickadee-rc8ph and they vote. scary.

Brontosaurus is a valid genus, it was reevaluated fairly recently.
@@Chef_Mordo it’s been quite awhile, possibly 8 years?

Why would they be angry? There's already a lot of atheist in the 19th century
This is wrong the earth isn't even 50 million years old it's only 6 thousand years old the age of isn't millions of years old.
don't breed.
Perhaps years were counted differently in the days of Adam and Eve.
Took wrong for this to be true, earth was 4.5 billion years old
