  • On the occasion of his first exhibition ‘That First Rain in May’ at our West Hollywood gallery, artist Angel Otero met with students from Inner-City Arts to discuss his newest composition of work. Through a labor-intensive process of oil painting on plexiglass, then scraping the applied medium into ‘skins’ which he subsequently collages with wet paint onto canvas, Otero has developed a signature mode of expressive storytelling. The artist’s unique approach allows for an active exchange with the medium, inviting chance and unpredictability into his practice.
The film is produced in partnership with Inner-City Arts, a non-profit organization committed to working with elementary to high school students in Los Angeles Unified School District to provide high quality art education at their Inner-City Arts campus. The campus offers programs from visual to performing arts engaging with students in after school, summer and weekend workshops.
