In this series of upcoming Videos I have tried to show what a FULL Graspop Festival experience is like (in 32°c heat) from Start to finish. I'll be posting 1 video every other day at 7PM until we are out of footage & these will be "Premieres" so we'll have a Livechat along the way if thats your thing & yes it's really me typing! ha!

Well that was one of the best weekends I've ever had!
In terms of a "Perfect Festival" it's an 11/10!
I tried all weekend to find at least one fault and it was borderline impossible! A true credit to Belgium 🇧🇪🖤
So to start, we left Download (and you'll see the absolute state we were all in in a few videos time 😂) & we had literally 12 hours to do all our washing, get Bartek back to our place in Folkestone and get on the Ferry to France to drive to Belgium. I had never driven a right hand drive car on the "right side of the road" either. But yeah we somehow pulled it off. (Cheers to Ruby Dad for letting me borrow one of his cars because of the Hearse fail)
For comparison, We got on the Ferry, drove through France & into Belgium, parked up at Graspop and had 2 beers in QUICKER time than it took to leave the carpark at Download!
I really had concerns about not speaking the language but this is the weirdest thing in every direction theres another conversation with another language! So at all times you'll be hearing syllables and pieces of words from 5+ cultures and yet everyone knows perfect English and makes the effort with us. - it made me feel insanely uncultured and thick knowing 1. But it didn't hinder us at all.
Band/crowd wise, you REALLY notice a difference between foreign gigs and London gigs!!! It's ridiculous! People have manners and ask to get by with pleases & thank yous thrown around all the time. & The crowd is less Vocal/rowdy. But they just seem more respectful to the music.
Band Highlights
Pantera!!!! FINALLY!!! - It's a tribute, treat it as a tribute! But they did everything right. It was cool to see what it could have been & the Solos were done as a tribute not a like for like carbon copy, it's exactly what I wanted to see. (& Yeah I choked up) 🖤 - (People at DL were asking for the Southern flags to be taken down & arguing about it etc, but musically it was perfect).
Avatar - VIP!!! It'll be on yhe Vlog as to how I got our group there! 🤣
Deathstars - it's been forever, I love them but they Keep cancelling tours & gigs in London so was about 10years or so since the last time.
Watain - I love that show!!! - Cool to see Rubys reaction to a satanic Death Metal band 🤘🏻
Amon Amarth - You'll have to see the Vlog as to why! 😂
Behemoth - We were front row/ pit and they are perfect!!! Good set list too.
Motley Crue - John 5 has totally changed this band!!! It was a cool new direction & the best I've seen them for ages!
Obviously Guns n Roses!!!! 3 hours of classics! 🖤
Machine Head - Always
Skindred...I absolutely love them
Not Bad...but kinda disappointed
Slipknot! NO CLOWN 😔 I get the reasons why, but man you miss his stage presence/performance as a hype guy as well. - that said we saw them like days before & it was still cool & a permanent favourite!
Motionless in White - purely a visual thing but I miss Chris old stage gear 😆 the rest of the band still tart up but the hoodie just feels kinda flat.
I know I'm REALLY clutching for those negatives too!! 😅 But it's nearly impossible! There's so much good & that thats the Best/Worst I could come up with.
But yeah doing this roadtrip with my Best mate & Girlfriend (+ meeting the others) was one of the best experiences I've ever had personaly but absolutely Exhausting!!! I know that you know we go hard, but 14 days in tents, with 30°c heat + the rest is tough! - to the point I'm only just coming too now 😂
So yeah, this Festival🇧🇪...
EVERYTHING is Fucking Perfect! The people, the Organisation, the polite multilingual Staff, the food & drink prices, how clean & respectful it was, the town/area it's in & obviously the line up! I literally can't put that all in to words....
All I can say is DO IT!

Poor Ruby. Buy gel packs and place them in your cooler with ice. Take them out as needed to cool off. Best place to put them is in armpits, inner thighs and neck. Place them in your bed at night as well. If you keep a few in the cooler at all times, it should make your festival a little more tolerable. Hopes this helps.

Being in the tent during the day was hell, but wasn't too bad once we'd got into the arena and sat in the covered areas.. With a nice cold beer or six (naturally). You wandered past our camp a few times.. If you spotted a sky blue Coventry City Football Club flag, that was us. 😁

I tell you now that Arena you guys have/(used to have?) got is pretty cool! Been there a few times for Fulham games and work conferences 🍻

HI Billy Yeah a bit rougth sometimes at festivals ,you just have to push on through it or drink the bugger off i know . Do you rember dustville at download when they moved the second stage miles away the whole site was just rocks and dust hell that year ,then you had floodsville of course when everybodys tents went up rivers omewhere madness with those bloody drummers and planes going over with the timmy dicks shoutng on blue camp all night. Thanks fot vid as well ,like being with you cheers to you Ruby and Bartek.

Heatstroke / sunstroke really takes it out of you, I experienced it last month and never want it ever again. I’ve never felt so ill in my life. Water and shade are the only options tbh, day drinking when it’s fucking boiling is a big No from me.

I would drive to the supermarket and crawl in a chest freezer in that heat. Tents make it even worse.

Wow 8.6 beer for brekky any good was it strong? Me too definitely not a morning person or heat person. I struggled a bit last year at boa my biker mates did. I created made a wind tunnel had a paddling pool a spray bottle & had that cool mist ruby had it helped. Even took a flannel kept soaking it under the water taps & put it on me & my hubby it helped!
I like how you show the camping morning ritual too.
When i watch your vlogs i relive my moments at festivals.

I dont mind the weather normally rain or shine but it's one thing that we do badly is we never prepare the event for it! It baffles me that there is never proper covered areas! Who organises and event and thinks that it would not get used in any weather! Ahahah!

Usually yeah But these lot at least prepared by having shade & Spraying cooling water on the crowd.
If Download bought shade, it would double as shelter if it rained too ya know?!? But no... nothing!!! At least at Bloodstock we have Lemmys & some stages in walking distance ha!

Poor Ruby. Hopefully shes now made a full recovery. How did the heat compare to Dustload? That Sunday was unbearably!
That Dust took weeks to get out!!! 😂
Ruby was good to go later that night, we lost her for about 4hours...
Then ahe hit the Vodka and was back to usual 😂

Put her in that stream next to the car park. Sorted. She could even take a few beers in with her to cool them down 😂. Seriously though, have had heatstroke and it's awful. Take dioralyte sachets and dissolve in water and sip for a while. If you can get it. The welfare situation at Download was just terrible this year. When BSCH needed stitching up at the Pilot she was in and out within 2 songs. Stewart was told 4 hours this year. They just weren't prepared for the heatwave.
Get this they have a Lake nearby that they provide Busses to!! So if you were actually desperate imagine being able to just go chill with your mates in a lake!!! - Admittedly we'd end up dead, but for the sensible Metalheads it's an option! 😂
Those sachet/pills the Swedish neighbours gave us really sorted Ruby out, I'd never heard of them but seem to be a game changer!
I'm absolutely shocked about the 4 Hours wait, that's insane!! Borderline criminal neglect? Ugh I'm Ranting about Download again!! Haha literally can't stop!

Big downside of Download fest is the lack of shade.
They over sold this year which made everything a lot worse. All about profit.
I may turn to a European festival next year, depending on the line ups.
