Since you enjoy middle grade things, I recommend Voltron: Legendary Defender. It's a really fun series, even if the fandom is tiring. It has the same art style as Avatar: the Last Airbender. Also, beautiful space animation.
Trust me I am the biggest scaredy cat and have never watched a horror movie in my life but I don’t find Stranger Things scary at all. It’s no scarier than some fantasy action things I’ve seen...maybe just a bit more eerie and creepy with some little jump scares
