This isn't just a Putin problem, it's a Russia problem. Or more specifically, it's a Muscovite problem. They consider themselves ethnically and culturally superior and they have no problem using force to advance Russian Imperialism, which is really Muscovite imperialism. Moscow sucks all the wealth out of the other provinces and treats them like satellite subjects. At some point, those provinces might wise up and rise up. Then and only then does the Russia problem begin to be solved, not just by a rotation of imperial leaders in the Kremlin.

It doesn't matter how many nuclear weapons Russia has. It's the willingness to use them as a last resort that matters. Plus Russia has many more weapons which the West is encouraging Russia to use. Very irresponsible.
The West is measuring/gauging all of this on the basis of Anglo American mentality which includes a good amount of a superiority complex together with a certain anount of naivety, stubbornness and self righteousness.
As we all know Putin reluctantly agreed to mobilization after month's of pressure from his military chief's so why are expert's believing that Putin will take the flack for it?
Plus it's possible some of his general's are even more fanatical than he is and might be willing to fight till the end from their bunkers. That's if insult was added to injury.
Many armed robbers say they are not bluffing or playing and their bluff gets called and they pull the trigger. I lived in some fairly dangerous places and saw the bodies and heard the witnesses to convince me of this.
What educated Anglo/American middle class politicians and military officials believe isn't always correct. I used to go to a British pub in the Americas and all 5 British former military experts on contract in Brazil monitoring aircraft radar in Colombia was car jacked not just once but 2+ times.

America just hit an asteroid seven million miles away traveling at thousands of miles an hour. It can hit anything it wants, with any level of force it wants, which is why more intelligent Soviets than Putin ended the Cold War. The weapons it has given to Ukraine are twenty years old and they are enough to drive Putin to these desperate actions. Imagine what the "new stuff" will do.
