    Sorry about the low volume. Legendary Tactics got a version of this with more volume:

    Really impressive game! Thanks for showing the whole thing + discussing strategy. Good + thoughtful decision making here.
    I just played a round with 15 birds down for the first time, 133 points :) Raven and gull / killdeer are clutch.
    I've been playing mostly against hard AI, I think they develop faster+ start giving you things sooner, but I could be wrong.

      Thank you so much!! 133 is a great score gj ^^ In vanilla, raven + killdeer is the best way. If you play with the EU expansion you can also get a ton of points with a tucking strat in the river.
      Good point about playing vs. hard AI. Never thought about that. Also these days, to achieve even higher scores, people play all the seats themselves in order to give yourself a lot of free stuff. Haven't tried it myself as I retired from Wingspan before that became a thing + it feels a little bit like cheating for me ;) But great for getting really high scores.

    if you have franklin's gull + chihuahuan raven in your actual opening hand how would you play that? Here you have 4 food, in that situation you only have 3 which means 2 really bad 1-food forest activations early? Can you not take both?

    • @BonelessDota
      @BonelessDota 2 года назад +1

      If you have both in opening hand, you have to keep both. Its just too good not too ^^ But you're right, you might have to use forrest twice for 1 food each which is painful. Still worth it though. The Ai might give you a free food if youre lucky. This is why Killdeer is better :) Perfect start would be killdeer and then you use the Killdeer activation in the middle row to pick up the Raven. This way there is no food issues.

    No-one took the raven in the first round? :|

      If I had played vs friends I would have picked up the Raven turn 1. But when I play to beat the record then I go full greed and wanna pick up the raven with my Gull on turn 2 to get that sweet +1 egg and +1 card xD

    Hi Boneless,
    Do you remember what difficulty the bots were that you were playing against?

    • @BonelessDota
      @BonelessDota 2 года назад +1

      Hi :) I believe it's easy bots, pretty sure. I don't think it matters though. It might be that harder bots will give you less food or something? Don't know to be honest ^^ Cheers

      I feel like anything other than an easy bot would grab that raven

      I've found even normal bots don't really value the ravens. They really value the hunting birds which tuck cards though! I haven't really played on hard cause the turns take so long.

    How would the Tufted Titmouse have given 5 additional points? It gives 2 points but costs 1 food and 2 eggs (in the late game). So it doesn't give any points at all on its own and can give max. 3 points if you lay 3 eggs on it. Though, considering this game ended with 3 open egg spots anyways, the Tufted Titmouse would have given 0 additional points, no?

      @BonelessDota 3 месяца назад +1

      I quickly looked through the video and I'm sorry but could't find when I was looking at Tufted Titmouse. But I guess I tend to have max eggs or even an overflow of eggs in some of these God games, so that's why I calculate like that. But ofc you're right if you got dont have max eggs it's not quite as good as I made it out to be. The point I was trying to make is that mostly it's just good to play birds like these as they sort of don't cost an action to play as you can play +1 bird after. So in most game I feel like you just wanna play it as the upside is much greater than the downside. The cost of 2 eggs = the 2 points on the card anyways, so really the cost is just 1 food. ^^ Good card is all I'm saying. But the way you math it out is perhaps a more fair way to think about it.

      Thanks for the reply!
      You start talking about that play at 23:21, the Tufted Titmouse appears shortly after and at 24:48 you value the double bird play with "an extra 3-5 points".
      I fail to see how that card could have given you 5 extra points (or really any points other than those for extra laid eggs which is max. 3 if you literally can't lay them anywhere else). But of course you are absolutely right that having the extra bird is almost always better even if the cost is as high as the victory points gain. I guess the only reason to not play the Tufted Titmouse is if you can use the slot in the forest for a better/ higher points bird (assuming you have enough turns and food of course).

      @@mewtwo87 Tufted titmouse has room for 3 eggs and the card itself comes with 2 points (just looked it up). So I guess this is how it could give +5 points IF the +1 food is no issue and you have an excess of eggs by the end of the game but like you said, in this game I wasn't overflowing with eggs. I take it your point is that if you have too many emtpy egg spots (like in this game) then it would maybe give 0 points (2 vp minus 2 eggs it cost to play). In this game it would just be 1 ressource out the window. So you have a point there. But then again, you know, there are mission cards and end-of-round goals so I would probably always play cards like Titmouse almost every time if I have the food to spare. Especially in the forest. The river birds tend to score higher than the forest birds (Roseate swoonbill is 2 points more than Bell's Vireo and so on). So it would be highly unlikely that tufted titmouse is ever a bad play imo.
      This is the case for vanilla at least. With expansions there are a few cards that allows for a VP-generating forest engine so in that case Titmouse is perhaps not good. But from what I've seen and tried it's usually some insane tuck-engine in the river that scores a lot of points if you play with expansions. Little rusty on the expansions, haven't played them a lot. ^^

    Why are all your opponents helping you?

    • @BonelessDota
      @BonelessDota Год назад +1

      They are just bots. If they play random pink birds I'll get some stuff. Nowadays people control 5 players to really truly boost themselves. Compared to that, this is not too much help I feel ^^
