I feel like I see so many Australians content creators having these really big luxury hauls constantly, it honestly seems strange. It’s stunning that people can consume so much. And then hearing petty complaints about packaging, you’re spending thousands on a bag, you’re gutted about not getting an extra piece of paper with the bag? And then you go on fashionphile and there’s so much LV, Chanel, Hermes. It doesn’t really seem exclusive or unique anymore.

    • @SweetSagan
      @SweetSagan 6 дней назад +8

There’s definitely a lot of overconsumption, but I disagree about the packaging. If you’re spending thousands on an item, all the packaging should come with it. Having the packaging can also make a difference on price if you decide to sell eventually.

I agree. That complaining triggered me really bad to be honest!

And the vip holiday gifts from the houses were just not good enough for some. It's frankly galling people can be so ungrateful.

I understand what you’re saying about hauls but for the most part, that isn’t who’s buying luxury and it isn’t so much about the exclusivity of it either. Some of us may only buy one luxe product in our lifetime so yes, good service and packaging is very important as that is what we’re paying for, not just the item. That’s the whole meaning of luxury - a purchase which is beautifully made with quality materials, carefully wrapped in pretty packaging and sold to us with an amazing, all round experience not usually found in other stores. Buying 2nd hand, no matter the price, does not fall into that category.

Mel in Melbourne is the biggest luxury stuff hoarder in Australia (bags, shoes, accessories) until now even though luxury has kinda died down.

The US website is still as scarce as ever. Things get snapped up quickly unless they are really expensive. Hardly any charms or bags stick around.

in Europe it’s all Steeple bags and nothing much else. but there are quite a few Rodeo and Pegase, also the Chouette and the octopus but not as many colors as AUS.

At this point I would just go preloved.

Oh don't worry. MIM's overconsumption will carry the brands until the global economy improves for everyone else. Until there's nothing left to unbox. Short answer...the global economy is in the tank for most people.

Is it because Australia has a larger Asian demographic (larger than US). The luxury houses are known to target Asians more than any other demographic in the world.

    • @tolikfox007

Are you serious lololol???!!! Aus has a larger asian population...lmaoooooo. the real truth is Hermes targets dumb demographic

100%, unless you’re East Asian you won’t feel welcome or won’t be given much service in luxury fashion houses.

Hi Jessi. Even though it says ‘add to cart’ but if you actually click on the button, you cant actually add the items lol. It says no longer available. Im referring to the picotin cargo, and the Lindys :)

tbh I feel like the middle-class in Australia much prefer the more mid-range luxury items. I see quite alot of polene, songmont, coach and the horse bags in the wild lately. Logomania is kind of out I so rarely see even Louis Vuitton canvas on the streets and at the shops.

  • @misstomi89

I was offered a couple bags (excluding quota bags Kelly/Birkin) in store no purchase history. So many colours and options. It’s great. Plus customer service was lovely - exceptional ~ although long wait times.

Agree 100% with you Jess! Went on Hermes US site earlier and there was an In The Loop, Picotin, and an Evelyne available- I could actually add them to cart. The In-the-loop 23 is still available but not sure who would pay $5350 USD for that especially in Etoupe….you can get them preloved in excellent condition for much less.

Maybe only buyers flock to youtube because they want to review and genuinely can afford the products... I don't see a slowdown in purchases but the prices are rather ridiculous. I mean when I consider my bills, mortgage and just running day-to-day expenses vs how much I earn a month and think about dropping $14k on these bags... it all seems rather over the top. Maybe if I made $500k a year or have a variety of investments to supplement my income, just maybe I could afford the bags. I like looking at the bags but they're so highly priced that I feel as if you have to not just sit at the top income tax bracket, you have to somehow have low other expenses.

I’m confused because Australian prices are the same? The Speedy 30 B on the website is £1470 / AUD $3050 which is almost the exact same after currency conversion (£1 = $2 AUD) so it’s not more expensive????

I think luxury sales are lower in Australia. The popular bag styles are sold out on the Canada site but I did notice that they re-stocked their SLGs (Calvi, Rodeo, Bastia) since 2 weeks ago. ❤

Great points there Jessie! I really think even Hermès has raised production, don't forget they put on over a hundred new artisans to train. Can't recall the exact figure but that's going to pump out more stock. People aren't as keen on the Birkin and Kelly because of the problem with being a target. The smaller items are more under the radar but many don't want to spend the money. I'm personally relieved some of the heat has come out of the market because it was crazy. I personally love the Kelly belt and will be buying more in the future. Yes the amount went up by about $220 Australian dollars.

im suprised, so much stock. the kelly strap I love and wanted a fun color even though I don't have one of their bags lol. also omg so many pegasus. i want one!!! but I don't know what color I would do. maybe a green would be fun. a calvi or point purse look cute but how many can one have lol. I'm fine with my kate spade cardhodler, so I better calm down.

I don't think it's easy to get quota bags and non quota bags from the store. After i got offer Birkin 30 last year in June. I have prespend another 32k Aud, and i am still waiting for Birkin 25 in neutral colour and Neo mini Garden party 23.

@minoominouei5284 sad right. Saw some RUclipsr score Mini Garden Party on the website. Well, I just get it from my SA. If I get my Birkin first, then that is it. I just let the Mini Garden Party wishlist go and stop Hermes' game. May be one day get it on the website. But if the mini Garden Party comes first, then I take it.
