Celestion Series 7000 Ribbon speakers, Arcam Alpha 10 Surround and power amps, Quad 606 power amp, Kef Sub woofer, Roksan CD player, Rega Planar 3 turntable, Cyrus centre and Mission surround speakers. All more than 30 years old, if memory serves. Is that enough Britishness for you? Still working great and sounds fantastic. I could say they don't make em like this any more, but hopefully you are trying to prove me wrong. Good luck with the new kit. Looks great.
Well done Peter Tyson. I love the look of your new equipment. The amp immediately reminded me of the old Arcam A60😊 Britain definitely needs some new British made affordable hi-fi as quite a few of our famous British brands are no longer owned or made in the UK and as such I am afraid quality has suffered. For example if I buy a Japanese brand of hi-fi then I expect it to be made in Japan and not elsewhere and the same goes for British hi-fi. Looking through my collection of various amps the oldest British one is my 1983 naim nait 1 ( Never been serviced ) and it's still working and sounds great. After that it is my 88 Cyrus one and my 89 Arcam alpha 11 both of which are unserviced and work and sound great. On the made in Japan side is my unserviced 1979 pioneer SA508 and my 1985 Marantz pm151 both working and sounding great also. I really hope your new fell audio is a huge success and full credit to you for giving the upcoming and established British audio buying public the opportunity to buy affordable British hi-fi once again.
Quad 34/306 and original Linn lp 12...34/306 used every day for vinyl lps...the Sondek every now and again. I like the philosophy of environmental consideration behind the Fell Audio products and will definitely consider buying the amp depending on reviews of course!
I still use a 1995 ARCAM Alpha5 cd player. To my mind the most musical CD player i have heard. I also still use 1994 Mission 780se. Good luck with your new HI FI.
Fantastic new to have a new British amplifier and CD player in the market. I will very much look forward to reading the reviews. For my sins, I run a Rega planar 3 / QUAD 34/405-2 / B&W P4s but still have my old Boots audio (Awia ) 45 watts per channel receiver and Wharfedale Laser 60s as my ‘shop system nearly all British !
The aesthetics are very nice. Particularly the label choices with green backlights. I'm loathe to use the word "retro" but it has a late 70's B&O look to it. It brought back fond memories. I've often tried to think of a way of replicating this aesthetic I my own projects, for control surfaces (not AV related). Your design is inspirational. Anyway, as an aside my wife originates from Carlisle. She went to school with the sons of Peter Tyson. On visiting her father last week, we drove past one of your ad billboards on Warwick Road. Her dad would be very interested to hear about Fell Audio as he was a keen audio enthusiast before becoming unwell. Many best wishes with the product.
I have a late 60's Thorens TD 150 Mk 1. Bought it 2 years ago for 'a song', & have gradually upgraded it with some of the currently available mod's. Still looks original, but it's now become the proverbial 'wolf in sheep's clothing' & astounds my mate's with it's performance level ! ~ The Fell Audio kit looks very nice, & I'll be looking out for some Reviews & prices. Also great to see a new British audio manufacturer entering the fray !
Looks great! I still have and use my entry level British system purchased when a university student. Creek CAS 4040 amp, Rega Planar 2 deck and Mordaunt Short MS-20 speakers. I am now over 60 so that testifies to it’s original quality and reliability.
Gear I still have and use daily. Cambridge Audio P 50 amplifier, Tannoy Reveal speakers, Rodgers LS7 speakers, NAD 3130 amplifier, Arcam Alpha 3 amplifier, Revox A77, ERA turntable with SME MKIII arm with Ortofon cartridge. Other various bits and pieces.
@@jamesjohnsonflint Yes, got one second hand from one careful owner. Managed to get the caps renewed a few years back. Front plate graphics are very worn but sounds great. Huge internal toroidal transformers in these things.
Congratulations guys and the best of luck with your new venture. Yes, I had a an A&R A60 back in the day and I’m still running a 1990 vintage Linn LP12. Not that much of the original inner gubbins is left mind you 😄.
Good luck with Fell Audio! Most of my vintage collection is Japanese - including Luxman L-114A and Sony TA-F55 amps, a Sony PS-FL1 turntable and JVC KD-65 cassette deck - but my favourite speakers are British - the Monitor Audio MA16s I bought in 1981 with my first wage packet. Hope you, too, are still going strong four decades from now!
This is good news indeed! I wish you all the best with this venture it is good to hear that new British hi-fi is emerging! I have always bought British, used to have a Creek 4040 and a still have a Rega Planar 3 both bought in ‘84 - sold amp for what I paid for it in ‘84, still have the Rega. Upgraded to another Creek amp and CD, really happy and bought a pair of Kef speakers and sold the Wharfdales. Nothing wrong with other hi-fi, I just like the Creek sound. I would love to hear your new amp. Quality hi-fi will always stand the test of time so wishing yours is still around in 30 yrs !
Still using my Rotel RX402 Tuner Amp I purchased in the early 80's (The Pioneer PL12D is in the attic) I have the original receipt for both - just in case 😊. Nice to see some UK designed Kit being launched.
Fantastic concept. If I were in the market, I would seriously consider this brand. Looks great. Appreciate the attention to detail yet simplicity of the design.
I bought a JVC stack system from eBay 10 years ago for £110. Still had the blue plastic protector tape on the brushed alloy parts and the original invoice for £599 in 1983 so it is in tip top condition. It has sat proudly in my kitchen in daily use since. Visitors to our house love it and I still play my vinyl on it regularly. The only thing I’ve done to in is add a Bluetooth adapter for Spotify and two extra ceiling speakers via an external switch box. An Amazon Echo dot is plugged in so I can have digital radio which is on all day every day. When I crank it up the volume and sound is unbeatable - heavy bass and crisp treble. Ace.
I also have the JVC stack. I brought the receiver with my first play cheque when I was 20. Had my separates for over 25 years 🙂. What's the Bluetooth adapter for Spotify?
Good to see another British manufacturer! I'm still using an original Linn Majik amp with a RP3 turntable, a Mission tuner and a NAD cd player. Speakers are Acoustic Research AR94, vintage but not British :) Good luck with this venture, if it sounds half as good as it looks you're going places!
I still run Meridian 101b/104 with M1 active speakers from December 1980. I updated my Linn sondek of 1980 in 1990 with an all new one and serviced and updated bears in 2022. all British. My Uher CR160 came after the CR240 and recently I snagged a Uher 4400 reel to reel, German. some of the mid-late 70s gear has seen retro updates like the Quad pre amp/power amp, Mission speakers and Cyrus amp.
Well in certainly looks very stylish and trying your best with the green credentials. Well done. To answer the 'What are you still using question?' I still have my Quad 34/405 amps. From the early and mid 80's. Still able to seriously move some air. Both made in Huntington UK. Only recently did they need a service and a few components replaced. Caps and resistors. Speaker outlets were changed to the more robust RCA type. This was done by an old school repair guru who sourced the bits from Quad (Not just any generic supplied parts) and checked for any modifications over the years with supplied circuit diagrams. Magic!
I still have, and when I can get in the room, use my original 80s purchased, mostly from Audio Excellence in Cardiff, a See turntable, with an Arcam Alpha amp, a Rotel RCD965 CD player and driving a pair of AR18BX speakers on stands. Tested this in the listening room that they had with my parents (late teenage student then) after another customer in the main part of the shop had been listening on Linn/Naim equipment with Roger Waters "The Tide is Turning" being played. That hurt a little. Had my budget and it still punches well.
I recently pulled my early 90s Audiolab 8000A out of storage to use as the heart of a new system. Had it checked over by an expert before using it again - he declared it to be perfect. Now paired with a Roksan Attessa turntable (British), upgraded with Origin Live tweaks (British), feeding Fyne Audio F501 speakers (British designed) through DNM cables (British). The next upgrage will be a British separate phono stage. The only Japanese component is the CD player but most of my listening is vinyl. Absolutely delighted with the system. Hope to see Fell do well.
Woe is me. Just read on the website that you don't deliver outside UK. What shame, for me! I hope you have lots of success with Fell Audio! Great concept.
You can use a forwarding agent to do this for you! As long as a product doesn't break the law of the importing nation, you can get anything - even if the company doesn't export.
I still choose to listen to my Audiomaster MLS5 speakers rather than my modern new speakers which are still in their box hardly used. Audiomaster bought in 1979 and consummately British. I put an old Linn Majik ( old and well used by previous owners) amp back in the box and connected the speakers to a Harmon-Kardon 730 twin powered amp. This was the original set up all those years ago when I used to invite young ladies back to my place to check out my system. Doesn't work now but both bits of kit are still giving me great pleasure.
Every success to your new launch Fell Audio. My 1970's system is humble, but sounds surprisingly great! 1970's/80's A set speakers: Goodmans Magnum 60 w (Goodmans from the Wembley days) B set speakers: Goodmans Q50 Receiver: Realistic STA2290 100 watts per channel (Hitachi manufacture I think) Equalizer: Realistic 10 band wide range equalizer 2010 CD: Sony Blu-Ray DVD Player BDP- S370 (Optical output via DAC into STA2290)
I still use a Quad 606 amp paired with a 66 Preamp and 66 Cd Player that I purchased in 1989. I have recently added a Rega Planar 1 Eco turntable and Q Acoustics speakers. Wonderful sound all around and all British components. I love the simple clean lines of the fell audio!
Your stated aims and objectives for Fell Audio are admirable. I particularly appreciate the ideal of gear that's built to last. We'll wait to hear them in person of course, but I wish you and the team every success with these and future products. As for older audio gear that I still own, I'm still running a pair of 20 year old Ruark Epilogue II's. Very similar in size and shape to the very new Ruark Sabre R's. These wonderful little speakers are some of the most enjoyably addictive I've ever heard, regardless of price. They're not going anywhere any time soon. And for future suggestions, here are a couple: a Fell Desktop amp with half width form factor and a USB-B input for PC/Mac and a 1/4" headphone jack for desktop users. And a Fell Amp+ with HDMI eARC for that extra bit of versatility and soundbar-bashing potential.
Nytech CP112 with CPA602 and Linn Sondek LP12 here. Additionally my original Rotel RA-820AX for other duties. And of course the and early 90's Rege Planer 3.
I'm guessing, you MIGHT be talking directly to me. Me, that ALWAYS bought Richer Sounds and graduated from Student to Professional. It's great to see a UK electronics firm again!
Congratulations on this release. I've still got a fair bit of older audio equipment. My favourite for the novelty aspect is the Binatone CD500. When I bought it second hand for £40 in the early 90s, I had only ever seen smaller vinyl, so I thought the record player on it was actually a subwoofer. I know Binatone wasn't a British manufacturer, what with them being an importer and distributor, but I do have fond memories of their equipment. The Binatone still works flawlessly and has not required any repairs beyond a new fuse for the plug (a new plug and power lead as well to be honest) as well as new needles for vinyl, but the rest is still functional. Compare that to the Denon AVR: Denon AVR-X6700H, which already refuses to play nice (it has a weird over heating issue that isn't actually related to over heating at all. I suspect there is a software bug that has the heat tolerance set too low as a 2°c increase in temp shuts the whole thing off) so I do think audio equipment today is designed with planned failure in mind. I hope Fell Audio can buck that trend.
Wishing you all the very best for your new products and further projects to come, I think it's great to have a new British amp and CD player in the marketplace. They certainly look good, a sort of restomod hi-fi if you will. I am using Arcam and Marantz at the moment but I'd certainly give Fell a listen if I decided it was time for some new gear. Good luck again.
If a company really wants to make a product in their country and make it affordable- here's Fell Audio. I am a little cranky about Quad. It is designed in the UK, but it is made in China. Btw, Fell looks great- the design language is 60's-ish going on 2024!!
Best of luck. I like the aesthetics. Kind of Naim, Creek vibes. I use Quad, Leak and NAD 3020 and Willsenton R8 amps with Snell type Jii speakers. Going off what you say, I reckon the Fell amp would be quite compatible in my home 🎶🎵👊🏻
This is Roger in Florida..Thanks for your super fast reply to my inquiry.. Please consider shipping to the US… I think this Amplifier would be a “sales” hit in the US market.. Price/Design/Power/Features and Uniqueness set it apart from many Class D’s👍 Best2You..

I still use a Technics 40W tuner amp from about 1996. I have my PC sound output running through it to a Pair of Pioneer CS 353 Speakers. There are better speakers out there now but they are sweet at this stage. I also have a Fluance turntable running into the amp too. Fluance are Canadian for those who don't know them. A solid heavy unit which was balanced and needed no adjustment straight out of the box, even though I checked. weighs in at about 8 kg or 14 / 16 pounds. Still have the Technics CD player but currently not connected.
Great video John and team. Congratulations on a spectacular launch and an equally spectacular pair of debut products. Compelling stuff for music lovers old and new.
30 year on and still using my arcam alpha 5 amp and cd player. Although l do like the look of the Fell, looking forward to seeing how it sounds, could this be a contender for a change 🤔😂
I still have some British gear, Talk Electronics and A&R A60. Really like the look of the new kit, not so keen on the class D however. Good luck with it all
Still got my Hitachi MD20 amplifier circa 1984 and my Denon 485 CD player circa 2000. Sounds great through my B&W P5 speakers. Not sure about the age of them, as I got them 2nd hand!
I have TDL RTL 2 speakers, an Arcam Alpha plus cd player, and a Linn Majic i amp plus Linn LK100 power amp. I split the pre/power of the Majic and use it as a bi amped system. Still sounding great after 30 plus years. I struggle with all this downloaded, streamed crap. Love the proper kit. The Majic is also the phono version, so can always add vinyl if I get that sad!!!!
Hope it goes well. Looking for another set up myself. Unfortunately 2 things have put me off it. Touch sensitive controls. Also when people mention green things that always means extra cost.
My current system is a new build I put together 20 odd years ago, it's a mix of UK and Japanese brands but I don't think a single part of it was actually made in the UK. Class D really has cranked up the efficiency, that little toroidal transformer pushing out 80 odds watts at 8 shows that. My old 20W light amps I had in the 80s and 90s had bigger ones than that. Love the styling BTW.
Looks fab, I'm in the market for a new cd deck so will definitely be investigating Fell. Any chance you might be looking into making speakers and maybe an AV (surround) receiver or amp?
I love the look of these components and applaud the confidence & drive needed to launch a new HiFi line. With regards capacitive touch controls, it ‘might’ increase product longevity, but the traditional HiFi purist I suspect you’re looking to attract likely prefers a more tactile interaction with their investment.
Fell Audio reminds me of my Arcam A60 of the early 80's. FYI Still using my exposure pre/power combination from 1986 (system successor to the A60). With clean mains, the right cables and well-matched partnering equipment, it has never sounded better! I haven't found a better preamp yet. All the best, Rob in Switzerland
I have an Arcam A65+ integrated amp, still built in Cambridge, U. K. It was purchased from a brick-and-mortar dealer in Omaha, Nebraska, U.S.A. in 1991 and it has been used just about every day since then. I am very happy with this sweet little piece of British kit; no complaints and no desire to change it for something else. "The old that is strong does not wither." -- J. R. R. Tolkien
Good Luck with the venture ... I still use a Thorens TD160S turntable with SME series 3S arm and Ortofon VMS30E cartridge ( from the early 80s ) , Meridian 506 CD Player with updated DAC, Arcam Alpha 10 and 10P Amplifiers ( Bi- Amped ) , Mission 783 Speakers ( from the 90s ), but now I've got 65 year old ears, the hearing is FUBAR'd... some say that's nothing new!
I have an Arcam alpha 10 amp, Arcam alpha 9 CD Player, Yamaha KX580SE tape deck and a Sony MDS JB930 QS Player/Recorder, its over 20yrs old and it's still working fine....touch wood, but sadly most modern amps don't have tape loops anymore so won't be upgrading anytime soon. I do like the look of the Fell Audio gear, But sadly its lacking the tape loops I need.
I like the design of the components as they have a retro yet modern look. Not enough inputs on the amp for my set up unfortunately. The cd player looks stylish. Wish it included aes/EBU output also.
Still using my old Panasonic SU-350 amplifier (part of a stacking separates set from the 1980s) and Mordaunt-Short MS25Ti speakers. Still sound great. I run the PC sound output through the SU-350 for services like Spotify, also peripherals like Guitar Port interface and Blu-ray player. And a more recent audio-technica LP3 turntable for my old vinyl.

I still use a 1995 ARCAM Alpha5 cd player. To my mind the most musical CD player i have heard. I also still use 1994 Mission 780se. Good luck with your new HI FI.
I still use my late father’s equipment bought new in the late 80’s. A Linn Sondek LP12 turntable, and Ruark Accolade speakers.
Still running a Cyrus two with PSX and tuner, Armstrong 625 receiver and two sets of Quad 33/303. I have recapped them all.
Love the fact you have a Cambridge amp. That’s a classic
@@jamesjohnsonflint Yes, got one second hand from one careful owner. Managed to get the caps renewed a few years back. Front plate graphics are very worn but sounds great. Huge internal toroidal transformers in these things.
Congratulations on the launch. Style wise your playing in the same park as quad & naim. Looking forward to future British products ❤
High praise indeed!
I have a NAD 3020 amp , KEF uk speakers and Dual 505 deck all from 1982 and mint
Can’t beat it for a budget kit
A&R Cambridge A60 amplifier. Linn Sondek LP12 turntable. Both bought in the 1980s, and still in good shape.
They look great
My British made gear I still use, a Connoisseur BD1 turntable with a SME 3009 Series 2 Improved tone arm and a Audiolab 8000A amp.
Speakers are Acoustic Research AR94, vintage but not British :)
Good luck with this venture, if it sounds half as good as it looks you're going places!
Still have my old Armstrong amp.
Still using Kef 104 AB's. Purchased in 1978, they still sound great !
Magic!
It's safe to say you're probably going to enjoy the next planned video! Keep an eye on the channel - John
Nice looking gear. Looking forward to hearing it. I've a British Sugden A21 from 1968 still going strong. Another northern product
My 1989 audiolab 8000A says hi 😂 have had it from new and its still rocking
I recently pulled my early 90s Audiolab 8000A out of storage to use as the heart of a new system. Had it checked over by an expert before using it again - he declared it to be perfect. Now paired with a Roksan Attessa turntable (British), upgraded with Origin Live tweaks (British), feeding Fyne Audio F501 speakers (British designed) through DNM cables (British). The next upgrage will be a British separate phono stage. The only Japanese component is the CD player but most of my listening is vinyl. Absolutely delighted with the system. Hope to see Fell do well.
@davidnickerson921 Nice 👍🏼
Ditto... A truly wonderful piece of kit.
Woe is me. Just read on the website that you don't deliver outside UK. What shame, for me! I hope you have lots of success with Fell Audio! Great concept.
😢
sorry state of affairs, lost grands a year off me alone
Use a forwarder to do the shipping / tax for you.
Given time, this will change I'm sure.
You can use a forwarding agent to do this for you! As long as a product doesn't break the law of the importing nation, you can get anything - even if the company doesn't export.
Looks great. I wish you luck 🤞I've got a Nad 3020 & Imf tsl50 which is British 🇬🇧
This looks great, especially the amp. Looking forward to more, hopefully a digital storage unit.
Every success to your new launch Fell Audio. My 1970's system is humble, but sounds surprisingly great!
1970's/80's
A set speakers: Goodmans Magnum 60 w (Goodmans from the Wembley days)
B set speakers: Goodmans Q50
Receiver: Realistic STA2290 100 watts per channel (Hitachi manufacture I think)
Equalizer: Realistic 10 band wide range equalizer
2010
CD: Sony Blu-Ray DVD Player BDP- S370 (Optical output via DAC into STA2290)
I still use a Quad 606 amp paired with a 66 Preamp and 66 Cd Player that I purchased in 1989. I have recently added a Rega Planar 1 Eco turntable and Q Acoustics speakers. Wonderful sound all around and all British components. I love the simple clean lines of the fell audio!
Greetings from France, i wish you the best. Vive l'Angleterre ! Thank you💪👍
Your stated aims and objectives for Fell Audio are admirable.
Congratulations Peter Tyson, a bold and exciting move. They look absolutely great. Happy to review these if you want to send a pair over! 😉
Nice try sir, 😂
Nytech CP112 with CPA602 and Linn Sondek LP12 here. Additionally my original Rotel RA-820AX for other duties. And of course the and early 90's Rege Planer 3.
I'm guessing, you MIGHT be talking directly to me. Me, that ALWAYS bought Richer Sounds and graduated from Student to Professional. It's great to see a UK electronics firm again!
Still running an Onix OA21 with psu and Onix BWD1 and psu. Also run Albarry M408s fed by a Prometheus TVC Pre.
Hmmm good luck with the venture I look forward to hearing soon.
Great to see made in UK gear.
Nice looking kit. Running a Regar plannar 2 , Micromega stage 4 cd , Sony minidisc deck , Rotel RA06 amp & morduant short floorstanders.
Good review. "D" Class, think I'll stick with my Quad 44/405.
Always but British when you can is my mantra. Good luck with the venture will keep a look out for reviews...
Wishing you every success with this venture. I can only imagine how much hard work has gone into bringing these products to market. Bravo! 👍
Going off what you say, I reckon the Fell amp would be quite compatible in my home 🎶🎵👊🏻
i still have my creek audio systems 40w amp (CAS 4040) circa 1985, still going strong. Also my Revolver turntable with a Linn Basik arm. :)
Love the aesthetics
This is Roger in Florida..Thanks for your super fast reply to my inquiry.. Please consider shipping to the US… I think this Amplifier would be a “sales” hit in the US market.. Price/Design/Power/Features and Uniqueness set it apart from many Class D’s👍 Best2You..
cant even ship 20 miles to france
@@PazLeBon Options ...
Use a) a forwarder for example, forward2me b) get someone to bring it to you when they return from a uk trip c) if you are 20 miles from England get on your bike and go there and above all stop moaning!
Like the buttons on the Nakamichi 730. Great when they worked but now, nobody can fix.
Prices just right but where is the HDMI ARC? ES9018, AKM 4493 next year? Great with new actors made in UK.
9018 is old, but still my personal favourite. It's all in the execution.
HDMI is probably dropped for cost.
@@Setright Yes true, no one thinks of the output stage. Just chip numbers. Higher is better obviously.
Me reading this comment having spent over £3k on a cd player that doesn’t even have a UAB socket. 😂
I don’t hear any difference on the latest DACS from ESS Sabre but there is a difference with AKM chip set, at least with my setup.
@lekis15 Please elaborate. More depth? Width? Detail?
Congratulations and well done 👍
Love the styling by the way.
Rocking an Arcam Alpha 6 from the 90s into a pair of AR18LS. Love the sound of this combo, but well done on the Fell duo. Excited to see how they do.
Good luck. Hope it sounds as good as it looks. I still play records on my early 90s Revolver turn table.
Very nice looking, clean lines but quite retro. I would have liked to see a usb input on the cd player, quite useful for playing music from a memory stick….cheap download to try out before committing to purchase album? Wishing you every success and what a great store PT is!!
I’ve owned simaudio moon the last 10 years best gear I have owned, but have owned rega, naim ,nad in the past.good luck with the new venture.
Great video John and team. Congratulations on a spectacular launch and an equally spectacular pair of debut products. Compelling stuff for music lovers old and new.
Thank you! 😁
Kenwood KR-6400 and Marantz Imperial 7 Speakers from 1974 ... 50 years old, no repairs and still goin'!
I'm still running my Tangent RS-4 speakers purchased new in 1974 -- and they're British.
British made!! Wow, its been a while.. Excellent to hear this, shall take a look over the weekend
Rega?
30 year on and still using my arcam alpha 5 amp and cd player. Although l do like the look of the Fell, looking forward to seeing how it sounds, could this be a contender for a change 🤔😂
I still have some British gear, Talk Electronics and A&R A60.
Really like the look of the new kit, not so keen on the class D however.
Good luck with it all
Very impressive. Eagerly awaiting the unveiling of record deck.
Still got my Hitachi MD20 amplifier circa 1984 and my Denon 485 CD player circa 2000. Sounds great through my B&W P5 speakers. Not sure about the age of them, as I got them 2nd hand!
My Linn LK280 and Linn Kans seem to be lasting forever - would be great to see some of this kit do the same!
Excited to hear about this a year ago, can’t wait hear it! Love the retro look 👍
With regards capacitive touch controls, it ‘might’ increase product longevity, but the traditional HiFi purist I suspect you’re looking to attract likely prefers a more tactile interaction
with their investment.
Look great - the very best of luck!
They look really good. The green lights remind me of mcintosh.
Do the lights change colour? I find amber more relaxing in a dim room.
A sreamer would be a nice partner. All bases covered. (Stick HDMi ARC on that).
Fell Stream is coming soon! - John
