Holl is playing OK for the moment, but I think I'd rather still have Walman and have Maatta and Chiarot on expiring contracts at the end of the year and potentially making a move for another piece than the current roster with Holl for another year
There has to be something more to the Walman deal. The GMs involved will never say what was at hand, but clearly Yzerman didn't want Walman for reason X and Grier would only take Walman with a 2nd because of reason Y. Yzerman looks bad from the Walman trade. This year Walman had back to bac 8:14 k 3-point games which only Petrangelo, Erik Karlson and Chris Letang have accomplished as active players. The more stupid moves Yzerman makes, the more I want him fired.

What Red Wings fans need to understand but don't and I do because I do is that when Steve Yzerman got here, the cupboard was bare. There were no Keurig coffee pods or snacks or prospects in the cupboard at all and he had to go to CostCo and get them himself, uphill both ways, and that's really super hard guys. And also the roster was really bad and even though it's still bad it was before and it's hard to go to work every day when the team is bad. So don't criticize him at all for anything because you don't understand the Yzerplan which is to draft and sign hockey players because that's your adult job as the general manager of an adult professional hockey organization to staff a hockey team. -every Yzerman water carrier on here.
Copp is at 5.6 for 3 more years rising cap makes this contract not bad it’s still not good or ideal but with the rising cap it’s not bad. Compher is making 5.5 for 4 more years still not bad for 2nd line center. Holl is only a bad contract because of how he was utilized, and if you have watched holl this year so far he’s been better this year. With the rising cap over the next 3 years, and copp and holl both expire within the next 2 I find it hard to find it hard to argue these contracts as bad anymore. Again still not good but better than they were and will look cheap once the cap is 100 million + per team
@@DominicR-20 These are bad contracts because they are untradeable. Literally zero teams have interest in acquiring these players at these prices. That's why guys like Walman and Maata were dealt, and why Husso's contract is buried in the minors, not to mention the guys we didn't bring back last year. This season is on a course for failure, and Yzerman will be forced to shop the few assets he has remaining (Kane/Tarasenko). This roster has a plethora of old players taking up big cap space and roster slots for prospects. Yzerman dug himself out of Holland's cap space hole, just to dig himself into his own hole.
This is true. Yzerman definitely had to overpay a few players early in the rebuild that are coming back to bite us a bit. I would never say the copp signing was bad at the time of the signing, but it just hasn’t worked out to this point. Chairot was also an overpay to fill a position of need. I thought he looked okay last year, but 1/3 is good enough for that contract.
@@seanr.6596I certainly thought those contracts were awful before those guys ever played their 1st game for the Wings, nothing about their recent previous play wpuld have made anybody believe they were worth the AAV or the term on those contracts.
What do they need to do? Bring up all their prospects now, sit veterans or trade them if they're a bridge player or send them to the ahl, and see what happens, and i mean bring up all their prospects, or they're going to lose the fans completely. Id rather watch them fall into the toilet this year, play asb, play johansen, play cossa, play kasper, danielson, mazur, bergrren and whoever actually has a chance to make this team in the next 3 years because this system will not work with this roster and firing lalonde will do nothing other than hit a reset button that will continue to see seasons mired in disappointment. Yzermans a great drafting gm, but a terrible free agent gm. Problem is draft picks take time, and that takes longer when you have scotty yzerman bowman jrs. philosophy to make them earn it in the minors and then take a 2 year back seat to veterans going back and forth between the ahl and nhl, just can't do that if you want to be successful nowadays.
No one gives a rats hind end about Matta. The fans are still wondering why we didn't resign Ghost and not trade Walman. Yzerman is now in his sixth clown year, His show is getting old. Tell me why we wanted Seider over the goal scorers who were available to him, and that question goes on every year. He also has an organization loaded with his non-educated croonies. And a HC who couldn't inspire a Turnip.
Seeing as trouba had no intention of coming here this year, yeah you could say moving walman was for literally nothing. Less than nothing looking at the state of the defense currently
Husso no one is gonna take period. Idk why you want to trade Kane, that makes no sense at all. copp is a good depth center and better defensively than some of our other centers and we have no one to replace him with. Holl is in the same boat as Husso despite his contract not being a bad contract but with his lack of utilization especially last year it’s hard to make the argument he is worth much of anything. To mention all of this we do not have NHL ready young guys better than these players to replace them
@@DominicR-20 he probably wants to trade Kane because he doesn't have any defensive awareness to his game. He never has, so I don't know why people assume he stopped paying attention to defense when he came to Detroit. When someone is that skilled you accept the fact that he's not good defensively because of what he can do on offense. I swear people are getting Kane's Stanley Cup wins mixed up with 3 Selke trophy wins. I don't know why fans are disappointed in him not back checking when he's never back checked.

I'm kinda tired of the Walman talk/trade comparison. Walman had to be a problem/bad locker room guy...something that gms and coaches aren't going to say publicly. When we all just understand that, we all can move on.
That’s a dangerous assumption to make about a person’s character. Everything Walman has ever said or done has indicated that he was a player that loved this city and this team. It’s more possible Yzerman just made a desperate and bad trade for cap space ahead of free agency.
Brian's "dime a dozen" comment is flawed when you have Petty playing top minutes against the Jets and Holl getting line deployments with our best. A proven d-man when 3 other slow-footed, passed prime, players is not clear. And will never be. They get to move up AJo who is just learning, and now he learns from 3 guys, who more than not, make our defense look like crap. I am glad they have 4 wins, so far, but the way they are playing is not showing playoff calibre hockey anytime soon, with who now is on the roster. LGRW🏒

Bring the good prospects up ; it couldn't get much worst !
Yzerman loves trading for draft picks.
Shame we couldn't move some of those draft picks to move up and get better prospects, but Steve is in love with his low offense 200ft guys.
When you lock up too much cap space with marginal players (Compher/Copp/Holl), you will have cap casualties elsewhere.
@@DominicR-20those cap #s wouldn’t be bad if they were #2 centers, but they are 3rd and 4th line centers.
@@seanr.6596I certainly thought those contracts were awful before those guys ever played their 1st game for the Wings, nothing about their recent previous play wpuld have made anybody believe they were worth the AAV or the term on those contracts.
The Wings NEED a legit 2 pair R Dman ! If they have to overpay a little so be it...they have really stagnated...
Seider goes 2nd in a redraft every day of the week. What are you on about? It was a good pick.
please stop with the walman crap he isn't that good if your being honest and he was being cleared to bring in trouba its not like it was for no reason
Seeing as trouba had no intention of coming here this year, yeah you could say moving walman was for literally nothing. Less than nothing looking at the state of the defense currently
0 effort
Need to trade Kane, Copp, Holl and Husso
And who in the fuck would want any of those players? Outside of Kane none of them have any real value, so good luck with that.
To mention all of this we do not have NHL ready young guys better than these players to replace them
Husso has no value…not trading Kane or Copp
Kane is the only player that keeps me interested in this team.
A fish rots from the head down.
Start with the head coach then the captain then the rest of so called "leadership" group.
There's your problem
If that is the case, the head would be Yzerman. Time for a change?
I’m tired of 3 minutes of Segment 3 being a recap of Segment 2. This podcast is becoming increasingly boring. WWP is far superior
It’s slightly better than Locked On Tigers, which is 35% prefacing opinions, 15% recap, 25% opinions and 25% therapy session.
These guys do episodes the same night as the games. I like WWP but Locked On is the best, by the time WWP release an episode it is outdated and they aren't even talking about the most recent game.
@@LockedOnRedWings The real bad influences on this team are LaLonde, Yzerman, and all his cronies, like Tanquay, and all the ex-teammates.
LGRW🏒
