    On mine the driveshaft has a cup at the top but still a gap kind of like that. I took a piece from an inner pto shield and cut to length that sits down in that cup and goes up to about 1/16" below the seal. Been on there two years now and its never come off or had hay wrapped on it since.

    New Holland needs to be informed of this. Perhaps they might be able to design and install a guard of some type. All it takes is a single stalk of timothy or orchard grass and in no time you've got a ball an inch thick wrapped around the shaft.

      You are absolutely right. It’s the tall stalks that do it consistently. Would be nice if there was a replacement guard that prevents it. It cost the friend of mine $4000 to replace the gear box.

      @Robertlong7033, you would think, but half of the time I don't think they care, all they care is make something that works, for faster production instead worry about creating something that has less maintenance. But am just saying.

      this is fixed on newer machines and they might have updated the part on the older machine

    Huh i bet that must get tired real quick of having to stop the tractor/ discbine just to clear rapped up dead grass off of it. Inerways thanks for sharing.

      Ya it does. It is just after doing the outside round or straightening a row, so it could be worse. Definitely worth checking to be sure it's ok. Thanks for watching.

    I wonder if a removable shield could be added in that problem spot. I am looking at getting a 1411 and looking for problems that they may have. Thanks.

      I was thinking the same. Maybe a plastic sleave that fit around the shaft and seal shroud. I am used to it now. Checking it after the outside round or straightening a swath isn't to bad.

      @@b8ranchI made a sleeve out of an inner plastic PTO shaft shield. Works well.

    That is One of New Hollands Shortcomings.................The Entire Cutterbar is driven by the End Turtle.... There are 2 rotational direction changes in each cutter unit connected by a spliined shaft..... .Krone is driven by Big gears along the back of the cutterbar... each turtle independant of the others....

    • @b8ranch
      @b8ranch  Год назад

      Yes it is. I wonder if the newer model has this issue resolved? Do you know?

      @@b8ranch I cannot say. We have 3 Easy-cut 320 Krone disc mowers, Mounted on 4760 KMC carts and 1 3200 Cart type Krone..... all use the same roll-pin protected turtles with quick change blades.......The former New Holland dealer wouldn't return our call on purchasing a 10 wheel rake, so we bought 1 from a dealer in Ga. used it 3 years sold it. Together with a close friend bought 4 Sitrex 10 wheel rakes in crates from our Deere dealer----- Some assembly required The Deere Dealer also handles Krone......We Run Deere Tractors and Round Balers .

      Lol wut??? Every disc mower is powered by the turtle closest to the gearbox. These are very rebuildable whereas your Krone is not…. And what are you trying to say about it being independent? So is the new holland

    • @farmingforfunandprofit940
      @farmingforfunandprofit940 Год назад

      Sorry Friend not Krone Power is transmitted down the rear of the cutterbar to each turtle ....not just the first....... New Holland uses bevel gears to change rotation from horizontal to vertical and back to horizontal in each turtle. and there is a splined shaft(that wears out).... where Krone maintains the same horizontal.... rotation...... New Holland is rebuildable because you will have too...... Krone is the Tootsie Roll when it comes to Disc Mowers...... And shear protection? two roll pins vs a shear hub..... which cost more?..... Krone has a video showing the build process....

      @@farmingforfunandprofit940 so you’re telling me there’s a special gearbox for every single turtle and they don’t rely on each other to run? So what’s turns the first gear? You’re still relying on 1 gear to run the whole machine 😂 I’m the biggest new holland hater ever but shaft drive mowers just work. What happens when your cutterbar explodes? Goodluck with that. What happens when a new holland or new idea or Vermeer explodes? Tear it down and replace the parts that are broke….. Krone works, and it’s very expensive. I had a Krone mower I bought brand new. It worked great. Except the parts that are built light when they need to be heavy and the heavy parts that don’t need to be built heavy…..
