Jeremy Wilson, My professor mentioned to me that movement while playing is not good. Movement such as you do while performing is a sign of tension. Why do you move excessively while playing? Is it because you are into the music? Btw love your playing! It's truly inspirational! Best wishes, Taylor
I've heard a graduate research recital about aspects of a live performance, and movement was a part of thee performance. It gives the listeners eyes something to emotionally connect to. Also, some movement is fine as long as it doesn't require great effort and matches the character of the music. I'd rather stay loose with some movement rather than stiff as a board which, personally, requires more effort to pull off.
Not sure why your professor told you that, I've talked to numerous of faculty and professionals and they say that movement in a piece like this is essential to keeping time with the pianist
this piece seems to make so much more sense to me after your description, thank you
Had my jury yesterday preforming this piece and then found this vid today lmao
Thank you always for the fantastic teaching videos.
Great !
