I'm glad i didn't my vinyl collection away. I've always continued to buy vinyl records alongside the CD. Mostly from second - hand shops.

It is fun to get vinyl with interesting packaging or large size books. The first vinyl record I owned like that was an import album of Live at Leeds with the inserts. Rob has a copy of We’re Only in it For the Money that’s also a white label promo. My friend Dave has found three butcher covers at yard sales, so he has at least one in his collection. All were pasted over but he checks any vinyl copy of Yesterday and Today he finds for the shadows in the picture.

Hi Larry,. I had many of these at one time. Sold them off when "Vinyl was dead" was the hype as cds came in. Wish I'd never sold them. Had Who - "Leeds", both Stones albums, Guess Who "Artificial Pardise".

Wondering if the Plastic Ono album is a recording of them at the Toronto Rock & Roll Revival Concert of 1969? I imagine it is. There's a documentary out on that show which I recently watched. It was the debut of the POB with Eric Clapton on guitar, Klaus Voorman on bass and the drummer from... (I forget). The doc emphasizes the negative audience reaction to Yoko singing etc. Since they literally had never rehearsed there was some unknowns. They cobbled together a set list on the plane ride over the Atlantic. The narrator in the doc makes a point of discussing Eric Clapton's 'WTF" face as Yoko is singing... like it's some shock.
However, any one who has seen the Rolling Stones Rock & Roll Circus from the precious year knows this isn't true. In that show, John and Clapton (along with Keith Richards and Mitch Mitchell) are an ad hoc band calling itself the Dirty Mac and they do a great rendition of Yer Blues. This is followed by Yoko's typically nightmarish caterwauling... So, it is unfair to say that Clapton did not know what he was getting himself into in Toronto... he was a veteran of Yoko performing.
Glad to see Live at Leeds on your list. Great album.

I remember seeing a clip of Chuck Berry doing a WTF reaction to Yoko singing when he was performing with John.
Was the drummer you were trying to think of Alan White, later of Yes?

@@jimmycampbell78 Yes... from Yes... I almost said that but didn't want to make a mistake. 😁

I've been playing The Who: Live At Leeds CD I borrowed from my friend! It's super good! I love how long 'My Generation' goes on for!
Satanic Majestic Request is probably my favorite Stones album! Because of '2000 Light Years From Home' and '2000 Man' (Mainly 'cause of Ace Frehley's cover of it on KISS: Dynasty.) The only vinyl I might want to collect would be TOOL and that's it, but those can be expensive, and so could be years before I decide to start collecting them.

I own the "Let it be" box and the book is in good shape ... "Live at Leeds" ... "Live Peace in Toronto" with the Calender and the "Wedding Album" with all the inserts almos brand new ... "We're only in it for the money" ... "Sticky Fingers" with the zipper, but the vinyl is quite scratched

I have The Who Live At Leeds & The Rolling Stones 3D. In my years managing used record stores I only received a few White Albums with all the portraits & never got a Let It Be with the booklet. Yesterday & Today would come in every year & there was a person in San Francisco who could undo the pasted cover for a reasonable fee.

Hey Larry. Great list. The Butcher cover was never for sale in Canada. There were only ever three Canadian copies made. The President of Capitol Canada got the call to change to cover before he had ordered the covers from the printer. Just had three test prints. So all the Butchers are US. I was lucky to find one about 10yrs ago.

Hi Larry these were all pretty cool. The live at leads album still have was a UK import and had all the stuff in it as well as a poster the cover has staples holding it together still have the poster the other stuff is gone. I guess after a year or two they would stop including the extras on all these. I still have most of my records I have been tempted to sell them because I don't play them but am still kind of attached to them. Any time I had extra money in those days often that's where it went.

Hi Larry good video . I still have my vinyl records from the very early "70s especially my Beatles and solo Beatles too . I only have about maybe 150 albums . Then in the 80's started buying CD's and I've been happy with them . But since the vinyl revival I've missed not buying records again . I did buy a couple of copies of McCartney 3 on vinyl just for old times sake 🙂

I acquired an original The Who Live At Leeds with 4 original insert documents which came free with a free 300+ record collection I got in 2002 unfortunately the disc has a ugly 1/4 inch chunk broken off and a 1/2 inch crack, probably from being dropped back in 1970 or 71 . miraculously the disc is still playable with minimal pop for the first few minutes, otherwise the rest of the record is in near mint condition.

I regret selling a lot of my vinyl several years back. I had some nice Beatles albums that were mostly pressed in the 1980s

I bought the halfnelson album a year before Edgar wright's documentary came out because I thought the prices would sky rocket afterwards. I paid 100 pounds for it on a white promo label, which is the most I've ever paid for a record. And sure enough I've seen them online for over 500 quid since.

This was a good video and a good look back at musical history. The age of vinyl was unique and sadly won’t be recreated. I must have had a vinyl collection of around 600 albums but they went, 200-300 cds but they went and I have to be honest, I like the digital format that suits my needs (and that of my wife 😉)

I bought the deluxe 1995 CD of The Who's "Live At Leeds", which replicated the original vinyl packaging. I didn't even know for sure what I was buying, this was before the internet for most people. It looked interesting, so I got it. ha! I didn't know it was replicating the original vinyl packaging till years later. I still have it. Apparently, The Beatles' "butcher cover" was very rare in Canada. Most were released for the US.

Don't have the space for a huge record collection and I'm pretty happy with what I have. Only miss a few Pink Floyd albums. And I would love to have some of my favorite jazz albums on vinyl, Miles, Trane, Monk, Adderley, Blakey, etc.

Another Rolling Stones album you wished you had in your record collection is The Rolling Stones - Some Girls with a die-cut outer sleeve and the inner sleeve had photos of some famous women - Lucile Ball, Marilyn Monroe, Raquel Welch, Liza Minnelli, and the Stones. I still have both original US pressings.

Other than The Guess Who and Sparks vinyl records, I have all of these. My Live at Leeds is autographed by three members of The Who (no Keith Moon sadly). In regards to the Let it Be boxset, I don't blame your brother. I barely allow myself to touch it. I'll try to remember you in my will Larry.

Enjoyed this, Larry! A Beatles Butcher Cover in good shape is worth a pretty penny. I bought a copy of Yesterday & Today checking to see if it might be a cover over. No dice. I'd also love to have the White Album on white vinyl. Around 10 or 11, I remember seeing the Satanic Majesties album. Wow, a 3-D square on the cover. Very cool, Mick! And a Stones best of called Through the Past Darkly. The cover was in the hexagon shape. Loved the front n' bk. cover, pure Stones. I do own a copy of Sticky Fingers from the olden days. Zipper works. As a Beatles fan, that Zappa spoof on Pepper wood be nice to own. The Who was/is a great live band. Leeds Kicks! ☮ n' ❤ to all 😺...Mittens too!

Had an Apple lable Sgt Pepper. Still wish i had that. ( Bought used $3!). I like that Stones coverbetter than Pepper as well. Go figure. Pepper is too silly. Looking at the John &Yoko pics, man the 60's were cool!

CD s aren’t it. Wish I knew that before I sold my lps, bought CDs, then sold my CDs and buying vinyl since. Now that my car doesn’t come with a CD player I have no use for CDs anymore Quite honestly the more balanced eq of records allows me to listen longer than the high end oriented CDs.
