But why would the rings stop us from travelling through space altogether? Wouldn't they be placed zonally, like around specific latitude parallels, just like he said about "shadowed places on Earth"? Wouldn't it be possible to launch the satellites, rockets etc. far from the rings and navigate in space to avoid them?
Well, no matter what angle you place a satellite in orbit, it will always encounter the rings, since earth is a sphere. But, if you were to place the satellite in an orbit higher than the rings, the chances of it hitting one would be 0. The problem with most ideas of space is that people think rockets/satellites can just easily change an orbit. To change an orbit, you have to put a lot of force on the object. Wherever you go in space, it will always try to make it look like an orbit.
We could mine the rocks in the rings for resources, instead of satellites for internet and communication etc what if we used airships that can simply float really high in the sky with satellite equipment sending the signal to the ground and other airship satellites
I’m not an Astrophysicist but from what I remember places that launch rockets and spaceship like cape Canaveral they’re specifically picked because the gravity is weaker there due to north and south poles. Going by that the rings would be along that weak line around the earth and would be in the way of launching rockets and spaceships. There’s a whole math to it, there’s specific people for the job cause one mistake and you just wasted billions of dollars

What if there was an active, mega volcano on mars the size of Asia? What if all our pets were released into the wild? What if all the zoos in the world opened their cages at the same time? it is actually really hard to do it far away from the equator since most of the rocket's power comes from the spin of the Earth, but we are able to do it from florida so it wouldn't be that hard.
