Huge fan of The Matrix franchise. Love the new movie.
Everything was a nostalgia its fantastic
That's like with Luke in last Jedi once he found out history of Jedi and all these wars and like that one alien said there's always conflict and the bad guys always come back. I'm like I can see him saying what's the point? What they did was for nothing. Its never going to be over. Always gotta jeep fighting and losing people lol. Neo is better in this than Luke in last Jedi though. This whole movie way better than last Jedi lol. Better than sequels I think lol. Watching this over and over and now reactions after reactions lol
Seen the movie five times already in cinemas
My initial rating was a 7 after seeing it a couple of times I think is a masterpiece
WB referencing themselves makes this feel like a more intelligent version of Space Jam 2

Really bad timing. It was originally set to premiere May 21st. No one would have seen Space Jam 2 back then.

Matrix4 is based on junkie slang like trilogy on programming code previously. The consumer society is portrayed as a digital and pharmaceutical addict fleeing real problems in the world of video games and drugs.
Back to the roots. Neo chooses to self-isolate his mind in an incubator. The circle of rebirths is complete. End of the movie ...
Everything ends where it started... in the matrix under control of deus e machina.

There seems to be a trend this year, of "nostalgia bait". People accused No Time To Die, Ghostbusters Afterlife and this of all having it. But where as I see the "member berries" HEAVILY in say the live action Spiderverse film we got last Friday or Space Jam 2, that's not how I see these 3 films. I see them as journeys into the franchise DNA that made them popular to begin with. And saying goodbye to characters while leaving the door open if the story wants to continue. And this film in particular(more than the others with the POSSIBILE exception of NTTD) , actually requires a more intimate knowledge of the lore in order to be fully immersed into the fantasy. Which helps the meta narrative. Not only with the Matrix 4 subplot, if you can even call it a subplot. But also with things like the Merovingian saying "this isn't as good as what used to be" but also the wink at the camera "because of you(fans/Warner) now we have another chance". I feel like Lana was simultaneously flipping off the Warner suits like anne sarnoff and walter hamada who are intent on making these cinematic universes (look at Space Jam). I remember reading that Warner Interactive shut down the Matrix Online for the same reason that the film division told Greg Berlanti they couldn't use certain characters in the Arrowverse because it would "be confusing to viewers". The implication being stories being told in the game were going to be similar to what they wanted to do with sequels. So spurned by her parents death Lana crafted a narrative that not only flips off the Warner suits, but also expanding on things touched upon by the Architect. When he speaks about how the 5 ones prior to Neo formed an attachment to the rest of humanity, whereas Neo had a "far more specific " experience. An experience which led to the climax of not one but 2 films in this film saga. Something the analyst recognizes and builds his Matrix on it. Which is why she has powers. The narrative is there, in the dialogue. Lana knew it's not possible to make a film as defining as The Matrix so Lana leaned into that. From riffing about endless loops(aka Hollywood remakes and reboots, to what The Matrix means. To the talk about feeling like nothing mattered. It is a layered story about aging and the relentless mediocrity of life. And that's definitely worth something
I'm a fan of original trilogy. After watching a trailer I was disappointed bc I was waiting for a movie with quality of the original one in terms of action and fight scenes.
After watching the movie I liked it. Story was good, I didn't like action scenes though. I like new characters.

All things being equal, I'd agree. But 2 things here. 1 Lana didn't really want to make a sequel bur 2 things happened. Her parents passing(people who taught Lana and her sister the value of love) and the suits at Warner mandating a sequel. The second is that Lana KNEW she couldn't replicate that "lightning in a bottle" her and Lily had with the first film(20 years of action cinema spinning off from that revolutionary film) so with the studio mandate Lana leaned into the Meta narrative. Calling out the "endless loops " of the Hollywood system doing remakes, reboots and sequels
@@bemasaberwyn55 yeah, but overall movie was ok. I like its meta. If they improved action scenes I would give it an 8/10
Great movie. Fight scenes were lacking but the story was solid. Happy to finally know what The One is. And given how they explained “the one” in the end I don’t think M4 was that woke really. It’s conservative propaganda if anything.
The consequences seemed sooo high at the end of the 3rd movie which made this movie feel like there were less stakes involved this time around. The storytelling didn't make me feel that there was this huge threat that would normally keep me on the edge of my seat.
I get your point but I see it as they already paid with their lives 60 years ago. The stakes in my mind can’t get higher. It’s what happens when they got resurrected. -When they get their second chance. What might get you thinking is when they talk about changing the matrix. Not ending it.
This one was not needed..Matrix Revolutions was a great closing to the series
