“Bud” an ex-con gets released from prison and wants to change his life by pursuing a career in music. While he was incarcerated his best friend was murdered leaving behind a younger brother “Treyshawn” and a sick grandmother. After Bud gets released he takes on the big brother role of Treyshawn and tries to keep him out of trouble as well. But things doesn’t go as planned and he ends up getting pulled back into a life of crime.
