On Rule #7 I said that you could block for the other player with jump flip. I don't know why I said that. What I should have said is that Spider-Man can use jump flip to block for himself without needing to exhaust.
I still have a question that needs some clarification though with these instances. Scenario 1: Say the villain is attacking Spiderman (you) for 4. If you use jump flip and DON'T exhaust for Def, then you'll resolve by taking 2 damage and removing 2 threat from the main scheme. Scenario 2: The villain is attacking another player for 4, If you DO exhaust for Def and play jump flip, then you'll resolve by taking 0 damage and removing 2 threat from the main scheme. Are those correct? Just making up some scenarios to try and wrap my head around exhausting and not exhausting when defending for yourself or another player.
@@joelgoff4935 Those are both correct. Also as a timing note, in the second scenario Spider-Man would not draw from his ability since the attack was initiated against a different hero.
@@joelgoff4935 Yes I don't see anything wrong with your assessment! An important note about spider-man specifically is about his interrupt. His interrupt triggers when the villain initiates an attack against him. So in scenario 1 he would draw a card from that. And in scenario 2 he would not get to draw a card because the attack was initiated against the other player, then spider-man blocked.
Hey Lime! I showed up in the last stream and liked it. Really enjoying this Common Rules Mistakes series, it helps a lot to understand and properly resolve the game, far beyond what I could get from reading the rules over and over. Thank you so much and keep up the amazing content!!
#7 was a huge help. Defense seems so much more fun now. This video in general was a big help. I would watch a 1.6 rules review. Having the specific card examples on screen is also very nice. Thank!
@@541austin that’s great to hear! I’m Glad number 7 helped. Unfortunately that’s the one where I made an error. Everything I said was correct except For specifically jump Flip allowing you to block For another hero. It only blocks for yourself. #2) When Revealed: Another important thing to know (a mistake I made for quite a few of my early games) is that effects which "put cards into play" DO NOT reveal those cards. So, do not resolve "When revealed" text when this happens.
Regarding "request an action". Cards like Team Building Exercise and Make the Call can get an ally played during another player's turn since they are Actions. The ally can't activate, but they might have a beneficial "Enters Play" ability... like Maria Hill's "every player draws 1 card"! :)
@@slominski31 I was referencing make the call to get nick fury in during someone else's turn. Off the top of my head I can't think of a shield traited hero. I know there are a few alter-ego's with it though!
@@slominski31 Ya there are a few. For instance, the damage could defeat a minion with guard, or the thwart could finish a side scheme, and even the card draw would allow you to plan out your turn better by knowing your options beforehand.
Tip for "Boost" cards: There is a line ruling off between the "When reveal" and the "Boost effect" on cards to make the 2 sections distinct. Something I believe would be good to be stated in the rules but last I checked was omitted. EG: "When Reveal" = only above the line; "Boost Effect" = only under the line. Yeah, not the best choice of "Game reserve term" by FFG, since it describes what you also "physically do" (by the English language) when you turn it over as a 'Boost Card' as well as the regular encounter card revealing.
I didn't know that you aren't allowed to do Basic Actions out of your turn, we regularly ask other players to "ping" out the Tough status so we can swoop in with a big attack
@@DrMcFly28 yup that is unfortunate. I used to make that mistake too because it really feels like a basic attack is an action, but it’s not technically allowed. It makes multiplayer a bit harder and things like tac team a lot better.
Hello, I do not believe spider-man’s controller can play jump flip to take defense role from his partner player’s hero. Jump Flip is an interrupt for taking damage, which would not apply if you were not already the defender. I believe , might be out of date, preemptive strike is one of the only interrupts that lets you take the defensive role this late in the activation.
You are right. It was a mistake if I said that you can play jump flip to block for another player. It should be that you just don't have to exhaust defend for yourself. Thank you for pointing that out!
😂 is this just to make me check the video again. Spotting that you can avoid the overpayment rule for Jubilee’s Three Steps Ahead card with the Stryfe “Left to Your Fate” main scheme. It’s pretty obscure and a great point.
@@danthecrow1701 Oh ya! I forgot the name of the scheme. I was so disappointed when I realized Jubilee can't over pay to get more benefits, so I had to find a case in which it worked lol
That's a tricky one. I'm not entirely sure. In the rules reference overkill is considered damage "from an attack" but does not "constitute an attack against that character". Your guess is as good as mine on how it works based off that lol
