I'm sorry if I came across that way, but that's not what I'm trying to say at all! You guys are one of my favorite bands. I have both your albums on my shelf right behind me. Chris is on my list of top Christian guitarists in music. Please don't get the idea that I'm hating on you or encouraging a fire/brimstone approach. I actually hate it because it pushes people away and has grown very cliche.
Jesus pointed out flaws when He went to the temple,and He being perfect; it means that protesting something that is against scripture makes you in the right. If the Bible says not to pierce or mark your body, it isn't saying that disliking the sin means you dislike the person. Like a brother who loves his sibling, if we voice what is right or wrong to eachother, it is out out of love and concern, I applaud the few who are willing to be disliked for expressing what we should(or shouldn't) do.

Look, I know I've upset a lot of people; I don't think everyone got my main point. Let me start by saying that I love Decyfer Down. I have both their albums on my shelf. I support them all the way and am ministered to by their music. I was just asking a simple question. Why the tattoos? Is that so wrong?

My goal is to be as good as a guitar player as him.
And saying that God just accepts us for who we are is no excuse. I fully agree that we are flawed beings and can never be perfect and desperately need the saving grace of Jesus Christ. My question then is, why add to your hopeless situation. Walking into sin with your eyes wide open with the mindset of "God will forgive me later" is so dangerous, that I couldn't even begin to describe it.

I am with TJ with this one. If you think that quoting Leviticus 19:28 and others make us that are ink up feel bad it is not. God was talking to Moses and Israel (old law) but we are living in the new law and the love of God and he gave his son for our sins. Btw, I have two tattoos and handicap. We need to love each other as Bros and Sister in Christ and not hating each other and just love the non-believers because they are not saved (yet) and how we touch them if we hating each other?

Yeah, ya can't use someone else's words or actions as evidence of your own holiness, the thing is that, we're all held accountable for everything we say and do. Being able to quote verses from scripture doesn't warrant you holiness neither does condemning "sinners". We're all sinners, get over it, but we try to do good. We all make mistakes, doesn't mean ya can't try again. For all the Christians that don't agree with me, just remember to operate from God's love and look into your own soul first. Peace.

You are absolutely correct and there is nothing wrong with those who don't know Christ in thinking "Oh, he's no different than me. I'm fine living the way I have been." Everyone was made right with God through their Savior's death. I am tattooed as is my wife and we both play/sing in our praise band at church. I am certain that Christ has forgiven my transgressions just as he did with prostitutes, tax collectors and the those who nailed Him to the cross. Faith saves, not ink free skin.

I think many of you are forgetting that as followers of Jesus Christ, we are not to follow the law of the Old Testament. We are told that we are to follow the teachings of the New Testament. Not that the OT is completely unimportant. But it's not what we are to live by anymore. And I really don't think that Jesus has a problem with our ink. Especially not when it's done to glorify Him and the talents and gifts he has brought to our lives in order to do His work.

Quoting the Bible isn't condemning anyone, we don't have the right to condemn anyone. If a father tells his young child not to run with scissors , and the child's friend repeats it to him, it isn't to be taken offensively. Take it or leave it, but i can tell it is out of love =)

And sometimes God uses people to point out sins and weaknesses they are guilty of. How else will they find out? Burning bushes don't happen that much anymore because more faith is expected in modern society. Why do you think we have preachers and accountability? There are several sins I would still be unknowingly wallering in if they hadn't been brought to my attention.

As you get further on your walk, you will come to realize that our only purpose as Christians is to love Christ and to glorify God by applying it to all of His kingdom. None of us deserve His Grace yet He gives it freely. There is nothing we can do but accept it through the love of Christ. His blood washed away ALL Sin, even tattoos.
