with everyone else(Trent, Jeordie, Peter) completely rocking this cover, its easy to overlook the fact that Atticus Ross makes this song thump from beginning to end (was looking at the title and he was left out), so i just wanted to put a thumbs up for his work.
I love how humble Trent has become since sobering up!!! As a fellow human in recovery (10-12 years a slave to the needle), its very inspiring. Im about 8 days away from getting a year...:)
When Trent first started this is exactly what he was doing...piano and back up vocals. Good to see him go back to his roots. You see it in HTDA as well. When he formed NIN they opened for Bauhaus and then Bauhaus opened for NIN back in 05ish. Love this shit. Such amazing stuff.
In love with this version, but still my favorite cover of this is Miss Grace Jones. She brought an energy and atmosphere never captured since. And kudos to Iggy Pop and Bowie for writing such timeless masterpieces.
Yes, Skinny Puppy and Ministry came before Reznor/NIN, but how many composers came before Beethoven? My point is, just because Reznor isn't the first to play industrial, he's certainly the one who brought it mainstream and still keep it's edge..I absolutely love Skinny Puppy, Ministry, ohGR, WELT, Front Line Assembly, KMFDM, Hilt, Revolting C0cks, 1000 Homo DJs, and most of all the other associated acts, but lets give credit where it's due. Reznor is a genius.
Oh yeah, "La Mer" is another good one. It's one of my favorite "quiet" Nin tracks, when the tempo picks up the clash of distortion and piano meld perfectly.
And if he continues to broaden his music, ie scoring movies, contributing to other bands, writing songs, producing, he will go down as one of the great musicians of all time...Just like Prince.
2 of my favorite men in this Universe! Plus an amazing guitar player! I feel so stoked that I've seen them all quite a few times at my ripe OLD age of 45!! Rock On! :)
Thanks for sharing this. I'm a HUGE NIN/Trent Reznor fan. Peter Murphy is one of my favorite's as well. Long time ago I went to see Peter Murphy in concert at DC's 9:30 Club but ended up seeing an unknown young NIN and they have been my favorite ever since. I wish there was a version of Peter Murphy's "Cuts You Up" with him and Trent singing it. I know that would be awesome!
Peter Murphy has one of my favorite voices ever, but you can tell especially in this song how his smoking has affected his voice, albeit a little, over time.
Great version of this famous Iggy Pop/David Bowie song! The original was written and recorded in Berlin after the recording of Iggy's album The Idiot. Bowie made the melody with simple synths and Iggy made the lyrics within 10 minutes, helped by Bowie. Gorgeous song!
I think these guys need to do an album together and that this is how it should be recorded. This seriously sounds better than either band's recent studio work.

I bid you welcome. I don't drink wine but I listen to nin
Killer cover... Trent and Peter make it their own without losing its power.
they make this shit look so easy but its complex as a motherfucker to be so in sync like that and not fuck up
Yep.
yeah it's like rocket science psh
Jeordie is great!
DAMN, that woulda been a cool ass room to be in that night. I'm sure it was an incredible vibe.

Wow.. I adore Iggy Pop's voice, and I could never imagine that someone could sing it better...
Congrats and cheers, master Peter !!

Love that one as well
This is what i call a A JAM with the best of the best, Nightclubbing the song we all know Trent Reznor, Jeordie White, Peter Murphy
Rock On! :)
Ich Fühl mich 25 Jahre zurück versetzt. Super.
Very good operation to refresh the people's memory in playing this little jewel Bowie/Pop song... Murphy's voice is really perfect for the purpose.
Surreal, awesome, acoustic heroine.
Total jam!
i love this. i love jeordie. and trent. and peter. i just wish so much he'd sing with robert smith. that's all i ever ask.
A freak show of talent. Gimme more.

Ya, it looks soooo easy, wish I could have been there to enjoy the awesomeness first hand-I can't even imagine...speechless I am.
I don't care if Reznor is like Beethoven or not, he's an unbelieveably talented musician and I respect him a lot.
Wow... speechless... They play this coolest tune !
Peter Murphy has one of my favorite voices ever, but you can tell especially in this song how his smoking has affected his voice, albeit a little, over time.
All new NIN fans faces when they realize Closer took it's drums from this song.
they were not "took", it's a sample, they were slightly pitched down etc.
Dude I’ve watched this so many times and I just cannot get enoughhhhh
Peter Murphy's voice is god like
Amazing Trent-Peter performance, they're in true high connection
wow the sound is dope
this makes me happy in so many ways
Oh how i wish that i could be in that studio....

This is the coolest thing ever!!! Candy to my ears!
iggy pop and bowie! awesome cover
one of the great piano earworms ever!
This is a great example of showing you just how talented Reznor and everyone else is. Wish Trent would do more just loose and fun stuff like this.
Awesome, just awesome!

Atticus hit legend status a long time ago.
A treasure!

I wanna be thereeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!
Jeordie's great.

fa paura...robbosissimo e bellissimo

this one's a lot of fun!
This is such a great cover of the song. Maybe the best cover of an already brilliant Iggy Pop/Bowie track.
It's the keyboard Trent reznor plays gets me in the right places.his corporation totally my gothic way of light
good stuff
This is so cool! Atticus rocks!
That's what I call a jam session.
i wish i was as cool as jeordie white
There is also a Human League cover of Night Clubbing, off the Travelogue Bonus Tracks CD. Awesome tune!
Trent is not shy about his inspirations.
genial... supremo!!
The opening riff to Nightclubbing was the inspiration for the underlying riff of Closer....
This format of performance is interesting, in that it seems much more casual than a regular NIN performance. I'm really digging it, though...
This is amazing!
Thank you, thought it was just me.
Thanks for the tip!!
Este cover estuvo tan sabroso, que hasta Peter Murphy se puso a bailar. Muy bien.
well made version
