  • I finally started the Mini Chopper build. It all went along nicely with no set backs. I get the engine mount welded in, the seat bracket fabricated up and the swing arm stiffened. It shouldn't be long and we will get to ride this hog. Don't forget to like, comment, subscribe, and share these videos.

    I love this project soooo much. I've been wanting to do this exact thing for so long just to see it done, but never had the money to do it. Now i can actually see it be done. I have a mini chopper build with a 212cc with a Torque Converter already and about to get it street legal, but it's not as cool as this. Keep up the awsome work and the amazing quality videos.

    25 Minute build video? ! Rockin!
    A Tip.. and Just the tip mind you. I am quite the beginner at welding, however my brother is a professional welder/fabricator/machinist and gives me tips now and then. If I recall, he said if you're welding a thinner piece of steel to a thicker piece of steel, you want to angle the torch with a bias towards the thicker metal as to concentrate more of the heat there. So if you're going to fillet weld the motor plate flat bar to the swingarm, you'd have the torch above the swingarm tube pointing at the motor flatbar and run a traditional bead walking the weld between the two metals, but hold the torch on the thick side longer and just quickly dip it to the thinner material. That should prevent it from burning through the thinner wall material and still give you a good weld.

    • @RedBeardsGarage
      @RedBeardsGarage  7 лет назад +1

      +elesjuan yeah I also had my welder turned up really high from where before I was welding thicker metal. Thanks for the tips though

    This is a Build I APPROVE of!!! Go RED!!! ;-) Just wish some of the Billet CDC Builders would mock up a Harley Engine with a Bicycle sized Prototype!!! Like the 74cc's V Twin... Who ever comes up first with that Motor will be able to quickly join the Millionaires Club and be the NEW Motorized Bike Genius FOREVER !!! Please put me down for a prepaid motor like that!!!
    If I can't have the Great sound of a V Twin... On my trike Build I might consider the Hemi 212 like Red Beard is using, or a 125 Honda with electric Start and the "Gasbikes"/"GasTrike" 79cc Kit... On my OCC Stingray I would like at least a Honda 125 engine with a 4-5 speed trany and a Kick start included... (I love Kick starts and 4 cycle engines with open headers) THANKS!!!

    Nice! I like your swing arm supports. I had an idea of large gussets in the triangle of the swing arm. Get the engine set up and then do the pegs, so that you position them properly to clear engine, moving and hot parts. You could use the cranks with the pedals on them and welded in the proper position. I am looking forward to see it progress.

    Have you ever considered using a pit bike (crf50 honda clone) motor in one of your builds? I always thought one of those engines would fit perfect where the cranks are on one of these OCC frames. Its a smaller overall package plus it would give you 3 or 4 speeds. You can also get it with or without electric start, and they have a stator to run 12 volt headlights and stuff with or without a battery. Just throwing that out there as a proven reliable power plant with a very versatile design! Keep up the good work!

    • @RedBeardsGarage
      @RedBeardsGarage  7 лет назад

      Well the 212cc has so many upgrades you can double the hp on it. The Cr50 engines are only like 6 hp and you cant really get much more power out of them. I had a ttr90 and it was 6hp stock with a potential of maybe 9 at most.

    • @micromachine7954
      @micromachine7954 7 лет назад +1

      I beg to differ on not being able to get much power out of a horizontal honda brother! The most common ones are 50, 70, 90, and 125cc's but I would look at the 140cc yx140 and theres also a YX160! These little motors can actually be built up over 200cc's and I've seen race bikes putting down over 30 HP with 6 speeds! Also look up Kikker hard knock motorcycles, (they sell kit bikes that look like bobbers based around pit bike engines) they only run 50cc-125cc in those and if you google them I think you'll be surprised how well they run! Just some food for thought, I know the predator is what your familiar with, but expand your horizons and just check them out. I think you'll be surprised if your only experience is a stock TTR90!

    • @RedBeardsGarage
      @RedBeardsGarage  7 лет назад

      I have experienced a lot of small bikes. The price to build one of those engines compared to a predator to me is not worth it. Gears isn't a big deal because of how good a torque converter works. I don't want to have that much money and time in a engine when the predator is so much cheaper and easier.

    • @micromachine7954
      @micromachine7954 7 лет назад

      I'm just saying if you ever need a smaller power plant that doesn't need a torque converter, the pit bike engines can be a lot of fun to work with and can be had in a variety of configurations. And with all the pit bikes out there you can sometimes come across these engines super cheap! Did you look up the Kikker Hardknock bikes? I think they are pretty neat and if anything would give you some inspiration for a build like this.

    What state do you live in where a bicycle with a lawnmower engine can be made street legal? That would never fly here in PA. Even if you could get it assigned a VIN#, the Predator 212 wouldn't pass EPA standards for new construction motor vehicle.

      i dont see why they dont just use 140 cc pitbike engines it would be quicker and better

      Some times the kill switch can get water in them making them short out. Try unhooking it to see if thats what it is
