This is sooo remindinding me of around 10 years (maybe more ?) ago when Stephen Brown was into his dissasembly line; Leah was doing her inky art and at some point Azizah started her inky messes; Liz was introducing us urban sketchers with FPs etc.. everything was new and exciting! The FP online world was starting to buzz. This made me smile in more ways than one and I thank you for it. İt’s a good reminder for everyone who are afraid to play around with their pens… any pens really for us older ones 😁 You tend to be bolder with time
This is fantastic ... thank you!!!! I had converted my clear Opus 88 Demonstrator a long time ago when Gourmet Pens Azeza showed how but I love the Moonman Mini even more .... really happy to know about this!!!! I need more Pilot Parallel nibs lol 😂! I converted 2 already. One of my Moonman Minis I'll never get the Parallel nib out again but the other it was not as tight! So I guess results will vary pen body to pen body! My 3.0 nib is writing great in the Moonman and I love it for making boxes around notes!!!!! Wow ... $4 Moonman Minis .... I've never ordered anything from Ali Express but that's a super low tempting price!!!! I only have one more Parallel nib size to get though ... and i want to keep my swirly pens with B nibs and just use the clear Moonman Minis! Again, thank you for this detailed experimenting... much appreciated i learned a lot more than I knew!!!!!
This is so cool! I've been yearning to dip my toes into calligraphy for some time. Until I watched your video, I was going to try a fude nib. I also just picked up a sketching kit with speedball dip pen nibs. In also an artist so like being able to sketch with the speciality nibs. But, I love pilot as a brand so I am considering this!!!! All I have to do is get past my fear of changing nib units...its terrifying to me! Great video!
Thank you for this awesome video!! I was already intrigued by seeing you use the pilot parallel in other videos, but this one solidified that I want to get one! I had a similar thought about how I could use it with some of the ink samples I’m a bit too nervous to use in my other fountain pens. Now to decide on the size to try first!
Now I have to go dig my Pilot Parallel set out of my storage unit. I have never inked them, I own all the sizes offered at the time. It will drive me nuts until I find them. They weren't supposed to go to our storage but my husband mistakenly took some of the boxes I had purposefully just in my garage so I could get to them easily. I have my work cut out for me because these pens aren't the only pens that ended up in storage and some have ink in them so I'd better find them soon! Thanks for the video!!!
Thanks for sharing your parallel pen play! I have one but realized I have zero lettering skills and forgot about it. Now I realize there isn’t a need to be fancy and I can still do some headings for journaling perhaps … I also think the thick nibs are so nice for showing off special inks 😍
Thank you! I only used the opus 88 and moonman so it's cool see all the other options. Also, I threw out my little flossing boards with the packaging when i first bought my pens 🙈. Your video would have helped me back then
Thank you for the great information. I've been loving my parallel pens, learning calligraphy. And have been looking for a different body option. The Pilot sign pens are discontinued. I'm too cheap to go the Opus 88 route. So it was wonderful to learn about the Wancai mini! Looks like just the body I was looking for.
Thank you so much for this! I was struggling. Also thank you for confirming that it can leak into the cap. I just had that happen and wasn't going to touch the pen until I saw this video. How do you store yours? Mine was laying down on a tray. Should I put it nib up?
Thank you Seemownay! I have the Parallels, but haven’t really used them. Now I‘m really wanting to. I eyedroppered my Preppies in the same manor with a bit of silicone grease on the threads, also without leaking issue. I might have missed it, but did you write with the custom ground Parallel nib? I‘d love to see it in action.
No, I didn't write with it because I wasn't sure I wanted to use it. It's been so disappointing - but I've inked it up later and will share a writing sample with it.
OMG! If the Wancai mini works why would you use a Benu? I love my mini and now I’m going to get more if they fit the parallel pens. I have one. I’ll try it. Thanks!

It's probably all a cycle - that "old" material is so old that it's new to a lot of us.
Aaah so helpful!
It’s fun doodling with the parallels
This is awesome! ❤ We just ordered the Pilot Parallel Pens and Wancai Minis, they are on their way. We can’t wait to play too! 😁
I hope you have the best time when playing! The stickers are finally on their way as well!

I'm only 13 minutes in and so much fun information for pilot parellel alternatives. Thank u
This was a really fun video! I'm definitely buying some of these to play around with.
I hope you have a good time with them!

The best way to get past that fear is trying to change the nib on a pen that's easily replaceable. I'm sure you can do it!

This was such a fun video and I learned alot. Now you've inspired a whole bunch of people to take their pens apart and play with them. Great job!
I'm glad you found it helpful!

I hope you find them and they are in good shape!
Thanks for these tips. Now I get to play more with my parallels. It would be nice if pilot just sold the nibs separately.
That’s a great idea!

I love the visit from the cat! ❤
He's always closeby - it's either him or his brother checking in.
I just discovered the joy of the pilot parallel pens myself, so this video was very timely and helpful! Thank you so much!
Thank you for showing us another way to use our Pilot Parallel pens. My Majohn Minis address on their way!
You are going to love them!
Yay! So much fun to watch. I used my parallel pens for calligraphy only. Never thought of using them in any other way.
Thank you! I only used the opus 88 and moonman so it's cool see all the other options. Also, I threw out my little flossing boards with the packaging when i first bought my pens 🙈. Your video would have helped me back then
You really make me want to try the parallel out 😃. And I have a wancai in my collection... 😅

I'm too cheap to go the Opus 88 route. So it was wonderful to learn about the Wancai mini! Looks like just the body I was looking for.
Shoot - I guess the Pilot Sign pens aren't an option then. I hope you have good experiences with the Wancai Mini.
I love them! Did I tell you I did a radius grind myself on one of my parallels?
No, I did not! I want to experiment with that next. There were some fun websites that shared ideas on "at home" grinds for the Parallels.
Thank you so much for this! I was struggling. Also thank you for confirming that it can leak into the cap. I just had that happen and wasn't going to touch the pen until I saw this video. How do you store yours? Mine was laying down on a tray. Should I put it nib up?
Can you use a converter to fill other color inks? If so which ones are they? I want to use it for my watercolor line and wash sketches.
Interesting, thank you!
I noticed newer Wancai Minis are 2nd Gen.

I need to experiment with more of my pens. It doesn’t fit in my wancai mini unfortunately, so I need to find a pen of mine that it does.
I wonder if yours is a first or second generation. I hope you find something that will work! It is a lot of fun!
OMG! If the Wancai mini works why would you use a Benu? I love my mini and now I’m going to get more if they fit the parallel pens. I have one. I’ll try it. Thanks!
You should totally try it!
