This team's going to the World Series. Mark my words. This team and season just has that feel. Going to and winning the World Series during a year where they were predicted to be bad is the most Mets thing ever.

You have to make the playoffs to win the World Series, but the Mets have been hanging around this long, these other teams have to win too, padres and d backs playing each other last series of season too.
Hopefully we extend veteran starter Sean Manaea who has leveled up this year & Luis Severino who has regained his form & reinvented himself to be veteran anchors along with ace Kodai Senga. Having those 3 atop the rotation will help as they can provide leadership & mentoring to talented young Mets pitchers Christian Scott & Jose Butto along with electric prospects Brandon Sproat & Blade Tidwell. We need to extend Pete Alonso too. He’s a homegrown Met & despite an off year he has been vital to this team & he is a strong leader for this team. If Mets stupidly let him go like they did with Zack Wheeler, Seth Lugo, Chris Bassitt, & many others I’ll be livid. Then they wonder why we can’t surpass the Phillies & Braves - we let too many good ones go while keeping a lot of washed up or aging players.🫤 We have some exciting young hitters coming up through the system with Luisangel Acũna arriving with a splash first not including budding power hitter Mark Vientos. We have some exciting prospects with good power & speed blends such as Acũna but also Jett the Met Williams, Drew Gilbert & injured rookie Ronnie Mauricio. We also have power bats like Ryan Clifford, Kevin Parada & Colin Houck. 2024 1st Round pick Carson Benge looks like a hitting machine too. The future is bright!
David Peterson and Tylor Megill have really come on at the right time. They have locked up the 4th and 5th starters for playoffs and next year. All we have two do is lock Luis Severino and Sean Manaea. Sean Manaea has a player’s option to opt out of his contract at the end of the season and become a free agent.
This may sound crazy but does anyone else think the Mets might win the world series this year? This team gives me a funny feeling. Since falling 10 games under .500 in May this team is 25 games above .500 the best in baseball. This team just has an energy about them that i didnt even see in 2022 when they won 101 games. I mean that team was fun but even before they blew it in the end you could see this team had peaked and was going to come back down to earth and ultimately they did and did so by crashing and burning. I could be wrong but i dont see it with this team and we are going to find out soon with the series against the Braves and Phils. If they win both those series and clinch a playoff spot theyre my favorite to win it all.

Diamondbacks lost again to the Rockies, who are playing the spoiler role and trying to avoid losing 100 games. The Mets hold the tiebreaker over the Diamondbacks for the wildcard spot. Still, it's probably going to take 89-90 wins to secure a wildcard spot, with the biggest remaining series being three games with the Braves in Atlanta.
This would be huge if they can sweep the nats going into the Phillies series! They still have a chance to climb into that 1st wild card spot who knows 👀
