This gorgeous woman, who can also sing like an angel, is so underrated as an actress. Why isn’t she in everything?!? I cannot stop being fascinated by her face, her hair… that smile! I’m watching Shameless for the 3rd time. 😬
Hollywood has never known what to do with her. At the time she came up in the early 2000's they already had the likes of Keira Knightley, Scarlet Johansson, Kirsten Dunst and Rachel McAdams. Emmy was launched into the star system via the marketing team of the Phantom of the Opera (in which she was technically competent but very uneventful to watch) and when the heat from that big project died off she was left on her own and been treading water since. She dabbled in a pop music career to little fanfare because whoever was managing her at the time also could not focus on a strong presence for her - the music she was making was very derivative of what other more compelling people were doing at the time - the likes of Imogen Heap. It came across as if she was directly copying what others were doing. Shameless was a big gamble for her that paid off and it did manage to showcase her acting talents while she was still a hot young thing in her 20's - the most commercially viable time for any female trying to make it in the business. She showed A LOT of skin in that series and got paid very well for exploiting her sexuality. It kept her relevant enough in order to make a move into directing and producing which she then parlayed into negotiating for higher pay and play the whole feminist equal pay game. The producers of Shameless caved for one season of her renegotiated terms and then they parted ways. (It is just so ironic how she made a lot of money off a show that tells the story of people stuck in poverty) That move bought her the opportunity to start creating her own projects. The movies she has made as a starring lead have never been hits and it seems she has moved on (or got the note to leave before the party ends) into streaming projects like Angelyne where she can flex her producing muscles along with her acting talents - which have gotten astronomically better with age and experience. I really wish she would get noticed for her work in Angelyne but she does not carry enough clout or good faith to make it onto voting ballots. But who knows. She seems to have a knack for getting things her way in the end.

As a girl with curly hair I can say that straightened hair is just more manageable. Curls get super frizzy after 2-3 days and then you have to rewash and do your whole routine again. If it was straight you can easily style and not have to wash your hair for a week which is healthier for hair growth and your scalp.
@@dominicanchu1ita what helps me most is a satin bonnet at night.. dry shampoo and a good wash routine and I’m good to go. Most days I literally just take my bonnet off and shake my head a couple of times… can’t get much more manageable

But, she chemically straightened her hair and all that stuff messes with your natural curl pattern… curls are beautiful…embrace them!
For some, it’s merely just making it easier to take care of. Curly hair can be a pain and high maintenance, but it’s when employers start requiring certain hairstyles that are difficult for certain people to do and maintain, is where I put my foot down. Straight, sleek, shiny hair is what’s perceived to be professional because people are dumb and shallow. Emmys’ curly hair is glorious here and just as professional looming as any straight hair ❤️❤️
