Theo and Bee gave up their busy city lifestyles in 2014 to explore alternative living, and have lived in vans and boats since then without looking back! Along with their cat Ginjey Bear they have been driving around the world in their self converted Sprinter van. However, when the global pandemic hit they began converting their abandoned stone barn in Central Portugal to turn into a wonderful tiny stone cottage. Along the way, they have rescued a playful cat called Furrnando and have a wonderful flock of Chickens!

Don't plan your stairway for the middle. It would be smack dab in the middle of your home and constantly in the way. It only works in that barn because you can't access beyond it.

@@Pilot333 Agreed! And in fact I wish them well, they will be much better once they leave the -soon to be blockaded - UK and grow their own and leave fast-food behind. I bought an abandoned barn 25 years ago in France and renovated it, have never regretted it, and now we're self-sufficient, meaning we can watch the worries of the world go by without stress - I wish them well, there's so much to learn...

I’ve been thinking and feeling a lot about setting healthy boundaries lately; I’m really being put to the test and not everyone in my life is ok with this change. Honoring my intuition and connecting to the sense of psychological safety is both challenging and rewarding. I’m feeling really inspired by the boundary Bee is setting re: being/ not being on camera. For me - countering any sense of obligation that I perceive of how I should be etc. is so impactful and important. Empowerment Abounds!!!😘 Jenny

Its v v difficult being stranded. Feeling stranded n nothing left after losing biz n home with it. No gov assistance so was living off savings...n then health was last thing to go!
Money is necessary but root of all evil too! As we see in world around us.
Stick together guys, n look after each other, enjoy MAKING MEMORIES!
One day they will be very precious too one of you and I hope that's in about fifty or sixty years time .

Gingebear I LOVE, SSHHHH...SOIRRY ...I had a beautiful black spoiled loving, v talkative shadow! He never left my side, ..until he had to.
I'm more a dog lover, also was blessed to have had a beautiful retriever for 15 yes!
My late partner, who was only young, same like Theo, didn't want a puppy initially but as we were still only dating at that time, he had little choice!!! Lol !!!
They ended up the BEST of friends. Right to the end!

I appreciate nature same way u guys do n living outdoors I loved here. For a long time this thing has me bed bound but my energy is creeping back...month by month!

Beautiful country, little towns, narrow lush, green, rural roads, kids & people playing in the sea, mischievous Bee smile in the arcade, the amazing stone cliffs you drove through, the canal and in general how different it is from the U.S. Many of us have dreamt of visiting yet may never get to. Have you thought about connecting your ladder to the mezzanine with
strong hinges? That way you could pull up the stairs when you're not using the loft, saving room in your wee barn to better move around.
Thought the same.
Rather than a hinge more like an axel attached to the top and a pulley attached to the bottom to hoist it straight up.

Clevedon is actually the first place we stayed and spent our first ever night in our first ever van conversion in 2019!
Since you've been back in the UK you've been to so many places in my neck of the woods, I noticed Theo in a video filming at Hopwood Services and seeing Webbs in this video too. I wonder if the pub you used to go to down the canal path when you lived on the narrow boat was either The Queen's Head or The Eagle and Sun?? Both lovely canal side pubs that do delicious food that I've been to many a times. I grew up in Redditch and holidayed as a child in Somerset, not too far from Cheddar Gorge. Lovely to see you showcasing some of home!

Looking at the slather had me thinking…instead of giving up the floor space for it to be in the middle of the floor all the time what if you hinged it on the Mezzanine side and put a pulley system attached to the bottom end. The rope could be on a cleat on the wall. Then you could have it out of your way during the day and only have it down when you needed it.
Well done you getting a vets visit sorted. I’m in Birmingham and last week the soonest vets appt I find was 5 weeks time. Bonkers.

I’m sure you’ve thought of this but have you considered having your sladder on wheels and a track at the top so you can slide it to the side when you want the living space open? It’s something I considered for my shepherds hut but didn’t have the space at the side to slide it to. I went with an off the shelf loft ladder in the end for budget reasons but might change it up in the future. Thank you for the continued inspiration. Good to see you relaxing xx
Theo, l love your videos. They relieve my stress and seeing Bee’s smiling face was a joy. Today We were lamenting not being able to go to England for holidays so your video was really helpful. Ive driven past the turn off to Cheddar Gorge a few times but now ive finally seen it, so thanks for that. It looks really inviting.. lm missing your farm, the chooks and the barn so now we have a date to aim for, l feel excited. Covid has changed our lives so much that little pleasures like your videos are now an important part of our lives. The barn home rental got me excited to see yours coming together. It will all be worth it.
The first thing to do in Portugal is to go to the lake for a swim.
Have the ladder on hinges so you can lift it to the roof when not in use. Great to see a finished possibility. Stay safe.

Wow! You went all the way down to Clevedon! I grew up one town over from there, we used to go for walks along that beach and coastline so much as a kid! Nostalgic moments right there, only the bravest people can swim in that water! The pier is cool and there is fish and chips to be had too!

On trips with my animals I use a dollar store aluminum pan with plastic lid, filled with an inch or two of litter ,( mix in baking soda for odor control)that stays in car in trunk or garage if not needed. Plus a dollar store scoop. You can stop immediately to dump or double bag it. Simple, inexpensive, and basically odor free. Except few minutes it takes to clean up smelly. Glad to see the difference in how be a is. Great partners are so amazing. May God bless you both. Safe travels and enjoy yourselves .

I buy throwaway litter trays at the supermarket. Don't know if that exists for you. But it fits perfectly on my car floor.

That barn is amazing. The space under the ladder could be better utilized if there was built in storage within the ladder. More space for storage.
