@@kenchen704 the driver side door rattle is a common thing with this gen of IS, I have it occasionally at certain speeds with my IS350 too. it's very faint though, with music on at any volume you don't notice it and apparently there's an easy fix for it by removing the window switch trim and adding some padding underneath around the plastic bits.

Very good video, I like the fact that it has Dual personality. About RC F vs IS 500 and the whole IS F talk. I feel if they added the F parts the car price would have shot up and since this seems like a special design skunk works project makes sense they did not do F. It would have been amazing if we had the full F for 68K, RC F with Premium package is very temping but it's 80K, and that is a full track car, hard to be practical on street and perhaps more expensive to maintain due to additional coolers and expensive brakes. The IS 500 even has the RC F / GS F front end although rear is a mix of AL + Steel unlike GS F and RC F with full AL back. Only issue I have is no Semi Aniline leather only Nuluxe sadly.Still I think this is the best car for me esp in 2023, that 2UR GSE with good reliability on the Aisin AA80E plus the quality build. @@85CEKR If you drive it hard, it'll hold gears all the way to redline in Sport S+. Sometimes to a fault. It's very aggressive, though it takes it a minute to "wake up" and go into aggro mode.
I’ve driven hard af on circuit of Americas trac here in Austin Tx where I live in both manual and auto in Sport + with trac mode on the TVD button because mine has that option along with traction fully off and in my opinion automatic shifting hits hard and crisp rite on time every time and it holds lower gears when it’s supposed to not prematurely shifting or rev matches no problem and hits full RMPs at redline each shift . It’s does all that twice as fast as I can manually shift . When you manually shift there is a slight delay I don’t like and even though it’s fun I always outrun almost all other RCFs because most of those drivers are manually shifting . I love actually manual driving because your connection to the vehicle is always an amazing experience but paddle shifting outside of something like a Lamborghini is overrated .

@@Deadlygangsta Awesome. Congrats! M340 is an amazing car. My highest recommendation for its price. 👍
CD player? Nice!!
It's a N/A 5.0L by Toyota, which means it goes to 250,000 miles with no issues. Mercs break.
This car will be a classic in the future
This is a big leap from my silver '03 is300; its cool to see how many similarities there are.
My dream daily. Red or blue exterior and white interior 👌
it even has spare tyre. damn practical
love the tophers
This is so much cooler than the cringe powered AMG c43, the front biased S4, and even the M340i for essentially the same price.
The v6 Q50 and G70 do cost less, but they're clearly a performance class lower.
I have the 2016 IS300, seriously considering getting the 500, would be a massive upgrade! But maybe worth it?
I love Lexus interior always have
loads of sympathy to the owner, very passioned and knowledgeable young man, unlike people these days. Best Regards
Steering wheel design is my only complaint - but hey nothing that a few dollars can’t fix
Maybe worth to mic the other guy too for better audio.
16:20 so rue abotu that cruise stalk pls never change it
I don't know anything about any Lexus. Don't even think I've ever ridden in one. But listening to everything you've said about this car, it seems to be a competitor to - or at least in the same smallish sport sedan segment as - my new Audi RS3. I always like to have one car in this category in my garage. Maybe in a few years when it's time for a replacement, I should consider this Lexus?
i also have an Rs3 and im going to test drive the is500 this week. The rs3 is great, super fast and sounds good, but its not a V8... I want the personnality and emotion of the NA V8
@@isaacaub165 I've had plenty of V8s in my life. I wanted to try the turbo 5, and I am not disappointed. I'm enjoying the woooOOOSH torque curve buildup...for street driving anyway.
I am 6’3 and honestly it felt pretty good to me once I moved the steering wheel.
Great car, I have a deposit on one. The only thing I don't like, I don't want the BBS 'optional' wheels and was told they are pretty much all coming with the BBS wheels for $2450 from the factory. I'm not a fan of being forced to spend $2450 for wheels I really don't want. That aside, the car is awesome and totally fun to drive.
a dream car.
This is more a GT car than the RCF, shame we don't get them here in the UK. Very upsetting to hear about that door rattle, even my IS300h doesn't have that issue, how very un Lexus like... Hope they sort that out
Is it just this particular car that’s rattling though? You are speaking as if it is a model-wide issue but this is a press car that’s been through god knows what. We need more information
@@kenchen704 I have a 2023 IS500 and there's absolutely zero rattle anywhere, even when going over train tracks and other large bumps.
@@85CEKR I have a 2023 IS 500 as well, and I have a few rattles, but certainly no worse than most other cars I've owned. I seem to be an outlier, as none of my other IS 500 owner buddies claim to have any. I'm sure they're fixable, but I am not bothered that much by them.
My issue with this car is the C8. It's almost as good a s GT car (in some ways like mileage etc better) but can be so much more with the flip of a switch. Yes, this is about 65 to 70k and that's 75 to 80k and this can seat 4 (although not comfortably). The servicing for the C8 is widespread and Corvettes are reliable, if not as much as this nice Lexus
Brother, nobody is cross shopping those two
You’re issue is you’re comparing two cars that serve totally different purposes.
?
Nothing Chevy makes is reliable. The main reason Corvette don't break is they all have 23k miles when they're 8 years old. If you throw a Fabrige egg off the Sears Tower and take a look 5 seconds later, it'll be fine too.
Does the C8 Corvette have four doors and five seats, or am I missing something?
@11:48 is my favorite part....Pause it correctly and you will see.
Good analysis you guys. Silver, wrong colour but the right car, much better in vermilion red with the red interior.
@TheTopher: Question: I had a 2020 Civic Si. The Honda spec oil was 0W20. Would using 5W30 cause dealers or Honda to give me crap in terms of denying warranty coverage? Just wondering. I have a 2013 Accord in which I use 5W30, because it consumed way too much oil when I was using 0W20. It was a TSB issue, out of warranty of course, for which I had the head rebuilt at 101,000 miles.
bro fack!!!! now I am really torn in between this & the GSF..... I have just begun the process of selling my LS 460...
Which one would you take as a daily driver the IS500 or your Civic Type R?
500, easy
500
I made the streets my F performance school but I wish I had gone to the real F school .
If you have about $1000 burning a hole in your pocket, it's money well spent. I really, really enjoyed it and learned a few things.
Such a sexy car. Imma get this one day.
Same!
They may as well made the black dash and steering wheel red with the amount of red they put on the doors and glove box compared to the 2020’s like jeez
10:10 so true 🤣 always a nuisance when I drive my RC-F and engine is up to temp but the gearbox refuses to shift/is sluggish until fully at operating temp
こんな素晴らしい車を最後に出してくれたレクサスに感謝。
Thanks for the solid video this beauty deserves it.
While I’m glad it has a spare, I wish car manufacturers still have us the option to pay for a full size spare
Might have missed it but is this the same 5.0L V8 as the LC 500? Amazing car!
It is
Same Cruise control stock on my 92’ Toyota Crown 😂
I'm only on this channel for the Lexus videos only.
I want Japan to release more sharp designs that remind people of Japanese Katana like this IS 500.🏯
i want a 2023 Leuxs IS 350 AWD reviewwwww
Do yourself a favor and skip the AWD. I've owned both AWD and RWD versions of the IS, and the RWD versions are much better to drive.
I own the RWD and it’s great.
The lc500 is revised now with a new enforcement 🎉can you both talk about it please 🙏🏻
this is my dream car
I hope I can get it in the future 🤞
You will...best of luck
No you wont
As much as I love IS500, for the same price you can get slightly used LS500 and it is such great value luxury sedan
Not everyone wants a big floaty boat like the ls500. The IS500 is a sports sedan. The ls500 is a luxury yacht. Apples and oranges.
@@sdlausen1 totally and if I didn't have kids, I would probably would go for the IS, but size matters in my circumstances
19:42 i have that exact rattle in the driver door of my 22 is350
Take it to the dealer. They will fix it under warranty - unless they can blame you for the problem, of course. 😁
@@ARentz07 yo!! i see you on clublexus all the time. congrats on the 500! it started after i got my windows tinted 😬 so i didn’t even bother, im worried they’d create more rattles opening it up again.
@@garrettisrael Shoot. Good luck. It may be a coincidence that it started after the windows were tinted - I've got a rattle in my driver's side door sometimes and haven't done anything to the car yet.
I'm a big fan
To be honest Manual shifting isn’t the best option even though it’s fun the RCF and is500 are actually way better and crisper when they are warmed up and you allow the automatic transmission do it’s thing in sport+ mode .
I pretty much always go manual mode if I am driving my IS 500 spiritedly. It's just more predictable that way.
Sport+ manual mode is fun af when transmission is warmed up. Thing rips down the street
I've gotta disagree with you on that, Sport + and manual mode is an absolute blast, To me Sport + in auto is probably the most disappointing mode in the car as its shifts are sometimes a bit random.
My dream car!
It's a very strong reliable engine.
Real nice car and great video!!
Dude I literally had no idea there was a different person filming TopherDrives lol
The interior is NuLuxe, not leather. Which is a plus in my book
The next LFA will be EV and has been previewed by that EV Lexus supercar concept that everyone knows. The next LC will have a TT V8 and will race in GT3. It has been previewed by the Toyota GT3 concept. It may not be called the LC when it is actually released
I desperately wish Lexus would do a more significant facelift with the inside. It's a CD player for goodness sakes. Otherwise, absolutely love this car.
I’m keeping my GS 350 AWD and getting one of these for fun… how does it stack up to the GS-F?
I drove one the other day and that transmission seemed so sluggish. Is there a rev limiter or engine programming to limit the engine power during break-in? It did not feel like 472 hp.
It seems slow for 5.0 and 472hp
You probably need to warm the car up, like Topher mentions in the video. Drive it around for 10-15 minutes before you give it the beans.
I always wondered why they never brought back the true IS F.
So beautiful, perfect
I am hoping they have just 1 more generation in them cause I hate that the touchscreen is not integrated
One day I will get to buy this dream car.
Great review like always. Honestly, I would take a used low mileage LC500 over a new IS500.
You’ll still be paying mark up. Lc500 easily 100k. You get no discount at Low mileage unless your at some shady dealership.
I test drove one of these and I would love to get one but my price range is more around the 350 to be comfortable>🙁☹️😭
LETS GO!!
Do you use a filter on your camera? Weird things going on with the infotainment screen
