Everything you’re saying resonates James. I feel like I’m waiting for some force to pull me forward because I’m too comfortable where I am. I’m not able to fully acknowledge how upset I am about this thing anymore, so I’m deferring having it hit me like a ton of bricks to some future time. I know it’s going to take something dramatic to move me, I won’t do it myself, even though part of me wants to.
Very interesting and thought-provoking. 🙏 It’s, in fact, a quantum leap, a survival reflex, sort of like carrying some heavy suitcases from the airport terminal to a far-away parked car. The alternative is to drop the heavy load and run away, but instead, you choose to load those suitcases into the car first. Later on, you may even have a broken back, see a doctor, and share the unfortunate event with friends. I think the primitive instinct is to solve the situation in the best way possible first and then deal with the healing. While carrying this heavy load, focus will stay on just getting through, seeking a shortcut. The heaviness of the load can be lightened up by the options available and the alternatives that may follow. Indeed, it’s a temporary moment, just like happiness and just like the weather. Thanks for making me think of this. Reflecting on it, I realize it is certainly not the default in being closed up, but a survival mechanism-you get there first.
James thank you so much for this resonating reading. I much needed the warning, the advice, and the understanding. Plenty is going on right now in terms of emotional health.
